For years the vampire family lived in the shadows, hidden by the night and people’s disbelief; feeding on animals or throw away people who would never be missed. As the family moves into an old theater to cover up their crimes, the youngest are restless and determined to live as they like. Killing and feeding when and where they want. Feeding on who they want. Only the oldest vampires have managed to keep them in check. But no longer.

Unaware of the nightstalking menace, the townspeople of Summer Haven, Florida, blithely go about their daily lives until, one by one, they disappear. Screams are heard in the night. Fear grows. But the lost are never found…alive.

Jenny Lacey and her father, who are hired to renovate the old Grand Theater, can’t escape when they find themselves caught up in the middle of the vampire’s war. In the end, it’s up to Jenny, her brother and her ex-husband to get rid of the bloodthirsty fiends that are destroying their town…if they can.

Creepy. Chilling. Both words that could be used to describe this book. Triumph, love and hope could also be used. This is a classic vampire novel of good versus evil. It almost feels like a throwback to a past era, to a time when it was more clear who the bad guys were.

We immediately get to know the character of Jenny and her family. I felt like they could have been one of several families that I know. Just down to earth, good people struggling to get by and dealing with the realistic daily life that so many people struggle with. Jenny worries about her dad getting older and still needing to work. All one needs to do is keep faith in his doctor and follow his saying and medications without any problems or embarrassing moments. on line cialis http://cute-n-tiny.com/cute-animals/long-haired-guinea-pig/ These fights create gaps levitra samples http://cute-n-tiny.com/cute-animals/mouse-floating-on-a-rubber-duck-in-a-pool/ between relationships and sometimes create huge misunderstandings. She misses her daughter, who lives far away. She regrets relationships of the past and decisions that she has made. In short, she is just like you, me or any number of people that you may know.

The characters that we get to know through this story are realistic and dynamic. I loved how real they all were and the relationship between Jenny and her parents is at once heartwarming and heartbreaking. The vampire characters are more in the fashion of the old, scary vampires of past generations rather than the sexy, enticing vampires of today’s romance novels. The exceptions to that statement would be the two “parent” vampires, Terry and Annie. We do get to know a little of their history, but really just enough to tease. We don’t get to know any of the vampire Irene’s history at all, other than one brief statement, and given her role in the book it would have been nice to learn more of her background. The stars of this novel are not the vampires though, despite what it would seem from the title, and as a result we don’t get to know them nearly as well as the rest of the people in the book.

The love story between Jenny, and her ex-husband Jeff, is somewhat bittersweet. Jeff is a likable guy and, I realize that there are extreme circumstances at work, but I don’t know that I would have forgiven him quite so easily. There is romance in the book in the form of other relationships that we get glimpses of, but relationship between Jenny and Jeff is the main romantic storyline – and it is minimal. One thing still holds true to the romance genre though: we do get our happy ending.

It is well written, with a realistic feel to it. If vampires did exist in our world, it is easy to see something like the story portrayed in this novel taking place.

If you like dark tales with classic “monsters” and a story of determination to overcome then you should check out this book. If you are anything like me, it will keep you turning the pages long into the night. I do love a good horror novel once in a while and with some romance thrown and paranormal aspects, this is like the best of all worlds. Reading it around Halloween would be fun!

When a brilliant point of light appears in the southern sky, Nathan Oakes is finishing his early-morning run in Central Park, Kathy Stratton is preparing to give a speech in San Francisco, Nikki Jamison is dreaming peacefully in her home near Phoenix, and Oscar Villalobos is grappling with the guilt that fuels his nightmares. None are yet aware of how much that strange light in the sky will change their lives.

By the time it begins sending a digital signal, however, Kathy Stratton, science advisor to the president, knows that a turning point in the human story has been reached. Aliens have made contact.

Soon after they land on a rural stretch of road west of Phoenix, Nikki Jamison and Oscar Villalobos slip unnoticed into the tiny red spaceship and learn the hard way that Zeke and Simon aren’t the friendly back-slappers they pretend to be. Trapped in a weird, impossibly vast labyrinth inside the ship, knowing their chances for survival are slim, Nikki and Oscar discover the truth about the aliens. They also learn about the complex network of interaction between sentient species throughout the universe, and the elegantly simple system of law that holds it all together—and they learn that a partnership with Zeke and Simon will not bring riches to the human race. Instead, it will bring extinction.

William Greenleaf’s novel, Bloodright is riveting, eerie, and fantastical. It is also engaging. The characters struggle with circumstances that are both familiar and but also alien (both to them and us). The contact from aliens seems unreal enough – without adding in the shocking appearance of the creatures.

In her official capacity, we first follow Kathy Stratton at the White House. Surprise, shock and denial, Mr. Greenleaf offers us an array of completely believable emotions. And Kathy must be the logical, level head that plows forward through bureaucratic disbelief. While she pursues issues of communications and response and the meaning behind all this, other characters are able to indulge their curiosity, and the author skillfully engages our curiosity as well.

“Just before dawn, the seemingly random flashes of varying lengths stopped…and for a moment Nikki’s breathing stopped, too. But after a brief pause, another series started. This one was different. For one thing, it was composed entirely of long and short flashes, with none of the varying lengths in between.”

Nathan initially offers us that more adult perspective… meanwhile, the occasional glimpses of ‘reality’ come from a distinctly different perspective. Through Lori’s experiences, we sense a whole different feeling – not of curiosity, but horror. At first, the Ecthroes seem no more than envoys: shocking in their very existence, and the more so for their purposeful contact, but well intentioned.

And: we want to believe! Yet, the truth about them – and about other races – will only gradually be discovered. Our sense of them is pulled one way, and then another by the clever Greeleaf, but our suspicion builds throughout. We discover that aliens, like people, are not all the same.

Space technology, spaceships, extraterrestrials, a digital signal from outer space: yes, the initial set-up of the story is somewhat derivative, but the characters themselves and fresh and independent. This is worth reading, and events are, on the whole, unpredictable.

Much more than she bargained for…

All Abby Cahill wanted was a quiet summer job in the beautiful Wisconsin woods. But the hospital where she’s filling in turns out to be overcrowded, understaffed and decidedly stretched for cash. And as if she didn’t have enough on her hands, the only vacancy in town for a “single woman with mutt” is at the farmhouse of wildlife biologist Ethan Matthews, whose son is with him for the season, along with several newborn puppies.

Ethan is a handsome, solitary man who seems to need Abby as much as she needs him. But she shouldn’t be needing him or anyone else—at the end of August she’s got to go back to her job in the city teaching nursing. This is just a temporary arrangement, which is starting to feel too comfortable, too much like home.

When Abby Cahill is evicted from her rented room, she lands at Ethan Matthews’ farm. But she’s not looking for an attachment and the solitary biologist who seems to shun others. He on the other hand, finds himself more attracted to the city-raised nurse than he cares to admit. In fact, it’s beginning to feel a little too much like home.

R.N and teaching nurse, Abby Cahill, takes a summer job as Director of Nursing in a Northern Wisconsin hospital in the small community of Blackberry Hill, a quiet town, when not inundated by summer tourists. The apartment complex she’d rented before arriving in town has burned and she has to find accommodations fast. She rents a seconded story room from a crotchety older man, but things don’t work out well there.

When Ethan Matthews arrives at the hospital injured from an auger accident, he’s told his wound is more serious than the hospital can handle, and they call for an airlift to a larger facility in Green Bay. She gets room and board in exchange for cooking dinner and looking after his son when he’s out. The arrangement suits both of them; neither is looking for an attachment, but when accidents begin to happen, they must work together to find out who–or what–is behind the mishaps. As they spend time together, each of them tries to hide their feelings for one another.

Home at Blackberry Hill is one of Harlequin’s Heartwarming series and is thoroughly enjoyable with likable, well-drawn characters and an interesting plot. This is a sweet romance, however, there’s plenty of emotional feelings to warm the heart of any reader. Some of the scenes were a bit choppy. I also found the ending just a bit hurried, but Ms. Rustand’s compelling characters and flowing prose made up for any shortcomings in the manuscript. If Home at Blackberry Hill is typical of Harlequin’s Heartwarming line, I highly recommend you give it a try.

Nathaniel… Icon. Celebrity. Heartthrob.

But underneath his movie-star good looks, he’s battling with the demons of his past. No one knows the real Nathaniel, they only see the pinup, the illusion he pretends to be.

Then one night he is forced to rely on Katie Field, an ordinary young woman from a very different world. She may be starstruck but she isn’t blinded by the bright lights of fame. Can Nathaniel trust her enough to reveal the real man behind the mask?

Let the seduction begin….

What fan of a handsome and sigh-worthy actor wouldn’t give their eyetooth to actually meet and spend time with the object of their fantasies? How would they respond when they found out that not only is the hunk not perfect, but that the man of their dreams has a world of nightmares haunting him? And what would the fan’s reaction be if they were drawn into that scary world?

All that and more is explored in this page turning tale, the latest by the talented Ms. Morgan. I liked how the author set the scene up. The hero, Nathaniel, is revered and is so up high on a pedestal that fans swoon just seeing his eyes. But when the unexpected happens, he turns tail and runs. And the story is off to an exciting start because he grabs the one person in the world who could threaten his piece of mind and escapes on her little motor bike. If that whole chapter was written to snare a reader’s interest, engage their curiosity and showcase how unique Katie, the heroine, is, then clearly it is a success. It did all that to me and then some.

I wanted to pinch Katie’s cheeks, she was so cute. But don’t think cute equals weak, far from it. She’s a woman with a mission in life – to follow a dream, and she’s scrimping and saving and doggedly pursuing it with everything she has. No matter how many roadblocks are thrown in her path, she has kept her sense of self, but most importantly, her sense of humor. It’s quirky, innocent and from the heart. She’s everything Nathaniel doesn’t normally deal with in his world and it was fun to see him try to make sense of her.

Another thing I liked about Katie was her ability to know when Nathaniel was full of hot air and she made no bones about telling him. Sometimes that caused smiles, and others, pain. There was nothing fake about the heroine and sometimes that confused the hero. Certainly, she challenged him.

Nathaniel is truly a man on the run from himself. They are having difficulties to run their relationship happily and peacefully look at here levitra properien due to the problem. Tadalista increases the blood flow to the male organ is reduced viagra soft 50mg due to ruptured or weak blood vessels. For this generico levitra on line http://cute-n-tiny.com/cute-animals/dog-and-deer-pals/ often people turn to drugs and medications to help them solve this problem. When the whole world is going getting viagra prescription mobile they why shouldn’t your loyalty cards? To lighten the weight of mental issue and advance psychological wellness. Acting is a way of hiding in plain sight but eventually things catch up with him. How he reacts indicated the measure of the man. I found that the hero matured and grew up during the course of the story. He faced some unpleasant realities and faced his fears – no small achievements.

Because Nathaniel is so tightlipped, Katie makes assumptions that in retrospect are funny and very easy to do. The reader won’t learn the truth until the heroine earns the hero’s trust and he reveals everything one painful tidbit at a time. That Katie stands by him and goes out of her own comfort zone to do so again shows how strong Katie’s character is. And that is exactly what Nathaniel needs, even though he fights it — a lot.

The emotional angst is very clear and hard hitting when Katie stands up to Nathaniel. There’s a lot of wonderful dialogue sprinkled throughout this book that speaks to the heart. When Nathaniel asked Katie if she wanted to “feel his muscles”, I thought it absolutely adorable. The final chapters are a catharsis and a powerful example of writing to capture a reader’s feelings. I sniffled at his unique way of proposing and laughed too. Even more amusing is the hero’s comparison of Katie to her sister. That sealed it for me – Nathaniel is perfect for Katie.

A Night of Scandal is a delightful romance that has enough humor, conflict and hope to keep a reader glued to its pages. It entertains with peppy dialogue and interesting situations. It has glamour and glitz, but it’s tamed by the fresh air that is Katie. The happily ever after wrap up is satisfying and loving with most of the loose ends getting tied up. See, Ms. Morgan has cleverly laid the groundwork for future books because it was revealed that Nathaniel isn’t the only tortured hero in the family. Ms. Morgan made that perfectly clear, and she did it so effectively, I can’t wait to revisit the Wolfe family again. I had a great time reading A Night of Scandal and recommend it to other readers who want a book focused solely on the romance between two people in need of love. It delivers.

She can run…

Lethally attractive Vittorio d’Severano was everything Jillian Smith wanted—until she discovered his secret life, and her dreams of a happy-ever-after crumbled into dust… Brokenhearted and terrified, Jill disappeared.

But she can’t hide!

Now Vitt has returned—to claim the tiny son Jill has sworn to keep from him! But to stay with her child, she must put Vitt’s ring on her finger. Yet what kind of relationship can they have when it’s based on secrets and a heat impossible to resist?

Looking for an adrenaline rush? Jane Porter’s A Dark Sicilian Secret is an exciting, fast-paced romance that will keep a reader on the edge of his or her seat while tugging at the heart.

Jill takes her baby and runs from the father, Vitt. Why would she do such a thing? A rumor led her to do some research on her own, and it seems her beloved Sicilian hunk is not the good guy who captured her heart in the first place.

In a dramatic beginning, Vitt finds Jill after eleven months of searching, at the edge of a cliff, literally. She’s terrified. He informs her that he got legal custody of their son, and if she wants to raise him, she’ll have to come along with them, to live in Sicily. She goes, despairing, but for the sake of her son. Strong emotions are evoked, from page one, and it never lets up.

At first, Vitt is strong-handed, practically forcing Jill into marriage. They have a quicky ceremony on flight while going to his family’s home. During the beginning scenes, Vitt is a bully; yet, something about him is quite compelling. When the reader gets a look into his point of view, Vitt seems less threatening. Do his actions just reflect his broken heart? After all, the woman he wanted to spend his life with dashed away without warning, while carrying his precious child. His speech is tough, but his thoughts are loving and gentle, creating an interesting character.

Jillian is courageous. She’s scared to death yet continually does what she thinks is right for her son, always putting him first. Every choice she makes carries such risk, yet she does these things anyway. She has a fascinating family history, and this adds to the storyline.

When in Sicily, Jill and Vitt drive around. The reader is treated to beautiful scenery. The theme of family is important in this book. The love is steamy.

My only complaint is that there was a lot of narrative. The novel could have started earlier, and some of Jill’s reflections could have been shown, not told. The book would make a great longer novel. This is a page-turner, enjoyable, and recommended for a fast read.

Pregnant?

His grandmother’s ultimatum was that he marry, not become a dad. But when brilliant physician Ethan Hartwell searched for the only woman he’d never quite forgotten, he found a two-for-one—Sloane Davenport was carrying his child! Now Ethan had to decide whether to tell Sloane his darkest secret…

A foster kid, Sloane dreamed of giving her own child a perfect family. But one incredible night with Ethan left her pregnant and—outrageously—fired from her job. Struggling to keep her independence, Sloane refused Ethan’s logical proposal. She wasn’t about to marry for anything but respect and partnership and love. So what will it take for her “maybe” to become a “yes”?

This book taps into what a reader needs to see and feel in order to connect with a character. There are moments of pure genius where description and emotions mesh to form a perfect experience and the fact that it happens more than once during this tale is a pleasant surprise.

The Mogul’s Maybe Marriage is a misleading title. Somehow, I connect the word ‘mogul’ to Ethan’s grandmother. That woman is absolutely the most manipulative power-broking shark in the whole book. The fact that she works her Machiavellian schemes on her own flesh and blood makes what Ethan, the hero, does seem mild in comparison. The words ‘maybe marriage’ stem from the hero being called on the carpet for his role in not living up to his commitment. He thinks he is and that’s when the problems start.

There are so many emotional hooks in this story, I’m not sure where to start. The hero is dogged by fear for most of the book. Fear of the future, fear of what might happen, fear of death, fear of failure and loss and his inability to deal with it all swirl around the man’s brain. He’s tried to distance himself and put buffers so he wouldn’t get emotionally hurt but that gets blown to pieces when he meets the one woman whose very presence makes him forget, makes him hope and makes him realize all he really has to lose if he lets her go.

Sloane is the heroine who has the power to save Ethan from himself. She has her own dragons to slay and that is so hard to do without a job, and money dwindling fast. The one thing that circumstances can’t take away is her pride, her integrity and her willingness to fight. She’s also amazingly pragmatic. I liked that she could step away from the typical emotional response that a lot of women might have had when Ethan stepped back into her life. She thought things through and despite her pride, acknowledged the truth of what she had to do. She didn’t realize until later why making that decision was so easy.

The conflict comes from two people merging from different aspects of the social scale. It comes from an undisclosed agreement that, of course, gets revealed at the most inopportune time. Inasmuch as that’s an overused tactic and it was done with a blasé sense of ‘get it over with’, it still provided a boost of angst to get the story wrapped up.

What I liked the best is how the author had Ethan pouring his heart out. The quantity or tadalafil sale unica-web.com the blue pill is small fraction of the branded counterpart. Also one should not suddenly stop taking buy canada levitra the medicine, especially if it is being taken for a long time. Also, people who experience other bladder problems like viagra sale https://unica-web.com/watch/2018/wildlife-in-focus.html the presence of a naked woman for sexual stimulation and they treat sex as one of their greatest accomplishments. A medical practitioner will have a better chance of informing you the dangers and threats when viagra cialis proben using the medication. A reader can tell it’s a struggle; that it causes him emotional anguish because he has to fight against himself to tell the real truth and not use a clever quip to divert the moment. I could see the man being very nervous. But the dialogue was the gem of the story. When he started pouring forth the words of his heart, it was the definition of romantic. What woman could resist such eloquent revelations? Believe it or not, Sloane could. She took a stand for most of the book that had Ethan in a bit of pain and physical frustration. Yet, the hero respected the heroine, mostly. Where he failed is another one of those pivotal moments in the tale. When he had to eat humble pie is another scene of passionate entreaty and wonderful words that touch the heart.

Another event that showcased symptoms of Ethan’s overwhelming fear was in how he treated the cute and adorable puppy. The author used that as a clever mirror that reflected what might eventually affect him and Sloane’s relationship – and another of Ethan’s greatest torment. As a child, Ethan didn’t have it easy and money couldn’t save or cure what ailed his family. He thinks history will repeat itself but through Sloane’s determination and steadfast belief in him and their love, it will turn out different. I believe it will based upon what I learned as I got to know the heroine’s character.

Ms. Klasky did a tremendous job in getting a reader to understand what makes both the hero and heroine tick. I think she worked so hard on them that the grandmother, who does play an integral part in their lives, was not fleshed out as much as I felt she needed to be. I can’t put my finger on it but I was more convinced about her ability and willingness to orchestrate other people’s lives and getting her own way than truly showing any affection and love towards Ethan, her grandson. I know the words were there, but I didn’t feel it.

The Mogul’s Maybe Marriage is an emotional force to be reckoned with. There is an incredible amount of feeling and sentiment that builds up until Ethan and Sloane can’t help but fall in love. Ms. Klasky did a wonderful job of building up the sensual tension between the two to the point a reader could almost feel the vibrating need between the two lovers. There is light humor to break up the intense responses and bottled up desires throughout the story. The editing was great and the pace was a smooth march.

If a reader craves romance that revolves around the written word and not what happens between the sheets then this book delivers in sparkling fashion.

“Not Death, But Love.”

Pain choked off anymore words. She grabbed the cold stone marker for support, splayed her hands across its front as a sob wrenched free from her chest.

Although she knows that the Amish way is to move on from grief, on to a new season, Hannah cannot move on from Jacob, who was taken too soon.
Jacob’s brother Levi also cannot move on—his love for Hannah burns just as strong as ever. But he knows how much Hannah loved his brother, and the event that took Jacob from them.

And it’s a secret he must take to his grave.

So when a mysterious stranger comes to their community, he too carries a secret; one that will force Hannah to choose between light and dark, between the one she wants to love and a new yearning she fears to embrace.

Hannah is still mourning Jacob even though he died. She wishes he’d come back and they could get married like they planned. But when he does, he has changed…

Ms. Ellis sets the scene in an Amish community, where everyone lives “plain”. They center on their religion and don’t take on the trappings of the modern world. However, before they are baptized into the fold, the young adults are allowed to go away and experience other life. Part of it is to see if that life appeals more than the Amish ways, and part of it is a chance to do what they wish without the whole community knowing it. Most return to the community, but not all.

The author makes Hannah old enough to be of the age for marriage. She also makes Hannah a character of conflict. He’s willing to wait for Hannah and he knows he loves her. He’s also willing to fight his brother to save her from evil. The paranormal part of the story is Jacob. He’s not dead; he’s a vampire now.

The tension in the story just keeps building. Hannah is one of the most conflicted characters I’ve read about recently. The author shows just how confused Hannah is over which brother to choose, and how hard it is for her to make the right decision. As the action and conflict ratchet up, you can’t stop reading and have no clue which way Hannah is going to jump. The fast pace of the story takes you right up to last page.

This book has a strange premise with Amish people and vampires, but it’s a very good read. And there will be more in this series, I’m sure. You’ll find out why when you read the book!

Rough and ready cowboy meet one sassy motel owner. Toss in a mystery or two and you’ve got the makings of a great story, Red’s Hot Cowboy by Carolyn Brown. This is one of those books you won’t want to miss.

I will warn, there are a lot of characters, but as per Ms. Brown’s style, it’s like reading about a gigantic extended family. Everyone is important to the story and I couldn’t leave any of them out. But I’m going to focus on the hero and heroine. Talk about a hoot, reading along as Pearl–love the Minnie Pearl connection–gave Wil a run for his money. She’s got some fantastic one liners. And Wil. Well, he’s written so well, I could picture him. Ms. Brown, I’d love another hero just as handsome. He’s full of concern and love for Pearl, even if he doesn’t know it. I enjoyed reading about the journey between first lust and full bloom love. And as much as she gets him going, he does the same right back to her.

I won’t give anything away, but this is one of those books you sit down and can’t help but read all at once. There’s no getting up for a drink of water or going to sleep. Nope. All the little things are important and make the story richer. Oh, and the steamy scenes, well, get the glass of water before you start. You’ll be glad you did.

If you want a book with plenty of twists, turns, hot cowboys, and a storyline that’s got to be continued (please, Ms. Brown, you’ve got the next story in the works?), then you need a copy of Red’s Hot Cowboy. It’s earned every one of the 4.5 books.
