Dying is hard enough. Coming back to life is brutal.

Grimm’s Circle, Book 5

Vanya has been hunting and killing demons ever since one of them scarred her face and killed her sister. Correction—since she was forced to kill the demon possessing her sister.

Then some sort of angel offers her a deal she can’t refuse—that if she becomes one of them, she gets to kill even more demons. Tonight, she’s made that choice. The death she smells on the air will be her own—and she welcomes it.

Silence feels a darkness is looming. Change—something he has every reason not to welcome. The deeply hidden memories that robbed him of his past, of his own name, render him unfit to teach anyone the ways of the Grimm. Yet here he is in the dankest sex club in town, waiting to assume his charge—after he stands by and watches her die.

When Vanya awakes, their complicated, dangerous dance begins. And so does something else—a searing need that blisters along their unexpected mental connection. Silence shouldn’t be drawn to his student, but once they touch, he can’t think of a reason to stop. Even though acting out their darkest desires puts them in more danger than they realize.

Shiloh Walker has once again added to her Grimm’s Circle series. I love this world, with its dark side, and its wonderful sense of honor and duty.

Vanya is a hunter, but not for the usual prey. She hunts and kills demons, like the one that possessed her sister. That was the first demon she killed, and she has the scars to show for it. But it wasn’t her last, and one day, she was made an offer to join with a group whose one goal is to stop demons from harming humans. Only one little thing with this offer: Vanya has to die to become one of the Grimm, but she is willing to do what it takes.

Silence doesn’t like change, but he feels it coming. As one of the Grimm, he spends every day stopping the demons roaming the streets. Each treating method has different cost and durability to cheap levitra be effective. Infertility was seen as only a female problem in earlier times, buy viagra online like it but as couples are opening up more, males are getting diagnosed with infertility at an alarming rate. When Will drops in to tell him he will be training the next Grimm, Silence is not sure he can do it. He has lost his past, his name, and even his voice in the centuries since he was human, and thinks Will is making a big mistake.

When Silence meets Vanya, the attraction is immediate, and once again he worries. How can he teach this woman, when he has no voice? But then the most intriguing thing happens-Vanya can hear his thoughts, and he can hear hers as well. For the first time in centuries, Silence can ‘talk’ to another person, but he also has to fight his growing need to make Vanya his in every way. Can Silence train Vanya in the ways of the Grimm? Will their growing attraction get in the way of their duty to protect? Or can these two find a way to be together and still carry out their mission?

The characters are, as ever, well crafted and multi-faceted people. The Grimm’s Circle series is fairy tales your mom never read to you, with the dark and gritty side of life coming through, and they are not for the faint of heart.

Vanya learned about demons when one possessed her sister, and she is determined to live the rest of her life eliminating every one she can. When Will offers her the chance to become one of the Grimm, a group of ‘guardian angels’ protecting the human race, she feels she has nothing to lose but her fragile life, and accepts. She is determined and strong, and ready to take her place as a Grimm. I liked watching Vanya grow into her new role, and enjoyed her interaction with her trainer, Silence.

Silence is not happy to be chosen to train Vanya, but he also knows that it is futile to refuse. He is strong and loyal, and yet vulnerable deep inside. He has been used and abused in his past, and has been robbed of his past, his name and even his voice. In spite of this, he is still on the side of good, and has spent his life as a Grimm tracking down the demons that threaten humanity. I liked watching as his heart and mind opened up to new possibilities with Vanya, and I enjoyed his delight and surprise as he found he could ‘speak’ with Vanya.

This is a story filled with edge of your seat action, scorching hot passion, and a couple of heart-rending moments to it. The journey that Vanya and Silence embark upon takes several intriguing twists and turns, and at times it seems like these two will never get along. As with all of the Grimm’s Circle books, one challenge was in trying to figure out what literary character was being depicted by Ms Walker’s characters, and this one was harder than most. I didn’t have a clue until near the end of the story, and then it was a wonderful surprise. There are a couple of things I recommend with this: tissues and lots of iced drinks.

After being sent back from the light, Alona Dare – former homecoming queen, current Queen of the Dead – finds herself doing something she never expected: working. Instead of spending days perfecting her tan by the pool (her typical summer routine when she was, you know, alive), Alona must now cater to the needs of other lost spirits. By her side for all of this – ugh – “helping of others” is Will Killian: social outcast, seer of the dead, and someone Alona cares about more than she’d like. Before Alona can make a final ruling on Will’s “friend” or “more” status, though, she discovers trouble at home. Her mom is tossing out Alona’s most valuable possessions, and her dad is expecting a new daughter with his wicked wife.

Is it possible her family is already moving on? Hello! She’s only been dead for two months! Thankfully, Alona knows just the guy who can put a stop to this mess. Unfortunately for Alona, Will has other stuff on his mind, and Mina, a young (and beautiful) seer, is at the top of the list. She’s the first ghost-talker Will’s ever met—aside from his father—and she may hold answers to Will’s troubled past. But can she be trusted? Alona immediately puts a check mark in the “clearly not” column. But Will is – ahem – willing to find out, even if it means leaving a hurt and angry Alona to her own devices, which is never…

Will’s father could see ghosts and he has inherited this ability. He uses this skill to try and help people solve their problems and pass over to the other side.

Alona is a ghost. Not just any ghost. At school Alona was the leader of the “in” crowd while Will was the oddball. Killed in an accident, she followed the light, but returned for reasons both she and Will have yet to fathom. Alona becomes solid when she’s near Will and this leads to a bit of romance.

Ghost hunters cross Will’s path stirring Alona’s jealousy. purchase viagra from india Your physician may restrict you to follow this procedure because it is very essential for the medicine to blend in the blood carefully which leads the man to erectile dysfunction. Will is so upset he begins to question if his path is the right one or should he align himself with the hunters?

Most ghost books are told from the perspective of the living, this is not the case in Queen of the Dead. Both living and dead have their say and show how they see the world. Funny at times, serious at others, the story at one stage brought tears to my eyes, but overall it was an entertaining book. Alona is forced to moderate her natural snippiness or fade away for several hours. Her outlook on life from the other side showed exactly the type of person she was when alive. Death softens her nastiness and by the end of the story I felt quite a bit of sympathy for her.

Will, on the other hand, is an indecisive person. I kept wanting to tell him to wake up and sort his life out which he eventually does, but not through any urging of mine.

I liked this book. Lighthearted but with a serious side. I note this is a series and presume Alona died in the first book. It will be interesting to see how the author continues the these books. Although some of Will and Alona’s problems are fixed there are still several issues left to be resolved.

Forbidden relationships are the most tempting. And the most dangerous.
It was a crime of passion–or so the police say. Valerie Solara has been charged with poisoning her best friend. The prosecution claims she’s always been secretly attracted to Amanda’s husband…and with Amanda gone, she planned to make her move.

Attorney Izzy McNeil left the legal world a year ago, but a friend’s request pulls her into the murder trial. Izzy knows how passion can turn your life upside down. She thought she had it once with her ex–fiance, Sam. Now she wonders if that’s all she has in common with her criminally gorgeous, younger boyfriend, Theo.

It’s Izzy’s job to present the facts that will exonerate her client–whether or not she’s innocent. But when she suspects Valerie is hiding something, she begins investigating–and uncovers a web of secret passions and dark motives, where seemingly innocent relationships can prove poisonous…

A mixture of a trial in criminal court and the trials in Izzy O’Neil’s personal life creates a feeling of “Is anyone really innocent?”.

Izzy, a lawyer once again working, finds criminal court different from civil court where she had worked before. Like her personal life, her professional life has taken a new road. She likes the change and the challenge, yet, she is reluctant to turn loose the past connections. As the reader travels the bumpy, uncertain, and often unsettling road with Izzy, expecting the unexpected becomes the norm.

A bevy of characters play important roles. Some are red herrings but they help add a touch of mystery to the plot, while others range from not-very-nice to the super yummy Theo.

The reticent Valerie Solara, accused of murdering her best friend Amanda Miller, is a mystery woman doing little to help her own defense. But if the boy becomes impotent, all the bondage and dream of the both breaks like a house viagra samples for sale of cards. Izzy, with her need-to-know attitude, soon uncovers subplots galore that keep the reader hopping from Amanda’s husband Zavy’s unknown past to Valerie’s daughter Layla’s secret life, to Amanda’s twelve and nine year old girls, and even to the back story of Valerie. Then there is the nanny Sylvia Zowinski, with a rap sheet, and the disgruntled neighbor Dr. St. John who had yelling matches with Amanda. My goodness, they do keep the reader guessing. Izzy’s searching for something to create reasonable doubt stirred up a hornets’ nest.

Martin and Maggie Bristol, criminal defense lawyer who asked Izzy to work with them have stories of their own, but nothing like the “life and times” of Izzy. She has a sexy, smart boyfriend Theo, ten years her junior, who revs up the heartbeat on a regular bases, while the reentrance of her old lover Sam creates conflicts that keep Izzy off-kilter much of the time. She sometimes wonders if she really knows either one of the men. Her ever-changing world is forcing her to do some tough growing up.

The humor seen in Izzy’s friend Lucy’s venture into the world of younger men dates is fun and enlightening, while the patience and love seen in the once renegade private investigator Mayburn is an affirmation of true love.

Izzy’s mother, step-father and her father (long-believed dead) create a unique subplot and add to the theme that life is ever-changing.

Laura Caldwell weaves together a kaleidoscope of a tale that shows that many areas of life must be dealt with as profession and personal needs overlap and intermingle. Her chapters associated with killing confused and distracted from the otherwise fast-paced story. However, they faded in the background as the many characters propelled events along to a somewhat unusual, but satisfying happy-ever-after—not just for Izzy but for many others also.

A Claim of Innocence captivates—good entertainment!

When private investigator Skylar Grady finds herself abandoned in the Arizona desert, she knows two things. First, her “simple” case tracking a deadbeat dad has someone spooked. Second—that someone will kill to keep her off the trail. So even when her rescuer, former patrol agent Jonas Sampson, wants her to leave, Skylar knows she’s staying. No one gets rid of her that easily. If Jonas wants her safe, then he’ll have to stick by her side. But her new partner is a mystery, too—one Skylar will risk her heart to solve.

If you were drugged and woke up in the middle of Sonoran Desert, what would you do? Skylar got up and attempted to walk out…

This author has a long list of books she has written, but this is the first one of hers I have read. I was impressed by this one, so I will be looking for more of her work in the future.

Ms. McCoy creates two strong characters who have had sorrow in their lives. Skylar is an ex-cop whose partner and fiancé were dirty. She was forced to kill him and barely survived her own injuries in the gunfire that resulted. She can’t believe she couldn’t see him for what he was and is determined not to jump into any new relationship, doubting her own judgement. Do not cheap super viagra ever give up on this. When faced with chronic stress and an over activated autonomic nervous system, he noted, a physical toll viagra for sale cheap begins to appear. She’s now a private investigator.

Jonas was a border patrol agent whose wife and unborn child were murdered because he was good at what he did. When Jonas finds Skylar and attempts to get her transported out of the desert, they suddenly find themselves the target of a number of gunmen who want them dead!

These two characters are spirited, feisty, stubborn and determined; they clash. The banter between them is what makes reading this story so much fun. The author has a Christian theme included, but it fits the story as the two wounded characters try to move away from the past and towards the future. They have to survive the present to get there, though!

Ms. McCoy writes a good, action packed story with witty repartee and danger all around. Jonas is determined to protect Skylar; she’s determined to take care of herself. It’s hard to tell who’s going to win that contest.

You’ll keep turning pages to see what happens to Skylar next and hoping that the two main characters will survive so they can have a relationship. This also happens to be a pretty good mystery, even if the romance seemed more important to me. Why don’t you give it a read and see what you think?

After ten years shouldering heavy responsibility as her siblings’ guardian, fern farmer Annie Brenton yearns for an exciting and carefree future. Despite the repeated threats of a stalker, she refuses to cower in her house and compromise her long-awaited freedom.

When widower Luke Erickson and his two young children turn to Annie for help and she takes them into her home, she believes her financial worries and stalker problems are solved. Instead, the stalker ratchets up his violence, and her developing feelings for Luke turn her world upside down.

As Luke’s past suddenly catches up to them, Annie is forced to make an impossible choice. Is loving a wandering sailor and his children worth the sacrifice of her freedom and the risk of a broken heart?

What do you get if you take a mystery stalker, a hot man, two adorable kids, a big, protective dog and a river that scares you? A really good, thrilling page-turner with many sexy “oooo” moments and adorable “awww” moments.

Luke is an ex-Navy Seal running from a past that is trying very hard to catch up with him. He is self-assured while still vulnerable and caring enough to question his own motives and how his actions will impact others. Annie is frightened of the stalker but determined not to be scared away but confused as to what she wants her future to hold. Annie’s job is quite unique and not one I had ever even thought of before or seen in any other books.

The suspense is built up very well throughout the book and had me turning the pages to see what happened next. Mix also does an excellent job of keeping you guessing on who the stalker is. She gives you just enough clues to think you might know who it is then she throws a red herring out there and throws you off entirely.

The thing that struck me as unbelievable was the fact that neither Luke nor Annie had a problem with letting the kids play outside after some of the things that had been happening with the stalker. If I was in that situation my kids would be glued to my side and always in my sight.

Other than the children, there aren’t many secondary characters. We get a few phone calls between Annie and her friend, as well as Annie and her sister and we get one visit from the sister. Annie has quite a history with her siblings that could have really been built up but was left a little flat and the sister is portrayed in such a way that you are left with no sympathy for her at all.

I really enjoy the romantic suspense genre and this book was no exception. The action brought on by the stalker fit the genre very well and the characters were believable. Definitely a book that I would recommend to a friend, so grab a blanket and a reading light, curl up in bed with the lights out, settle in for some nail biting moments and read this book.

The wealthy Kate Hamilton must marry the wounded viscount she is sheltering in her London townhouse, as saving his life has ruined her. But he’s a perfect candidate—especially since Kate’s already falling in love with him. Dancy seems reluctant, so Kate proposes hiring him as her husband to disguise her true feelings.

Dancy has never met anyone like levelheaded Kate, thrusting herself into a scandal to save his sister from gossip. He resents Kate trying to solve everything with money, even as he admits her heart is in the right place. Just as they are to wed, his sister elopes and he is captivated by the unconventional Kate as they ride across England together to prevent yet another scandal.

If I found a viscount like Lord Dancy, I’d hire him to be my husband in a minute. Kate Hamilton has the great good sense to do just that in Barbara Miller’s delightful Regency romp, Viscount For Hire. And the pairing of these two sets off sparks that twinkle brilliantly throughout the novella.
However, not everyone can or should take this order viagra online robertrobb.com drug on an empty stomach in about 1 hour prior to any sexual activity. Strong characterization and fast paced action drew me straight into the romance of Kate and Dancy. Ms. Miller’s skillful depiction of the American heiress and the nobleman through action and dialogue engaged me in the story and made me immediately sympathetic towards the feisty heroine and chivalrous hero.

In fact, the use of dialogue rather than narration gives the book a lot of its momentum, though a few more dialogue tags would have been helpful. You simply fly through the pages trying to find out what the next crisis is and how Kate will manage it. There is something of a lack of description of the physical settings, but leaving these details up to the reader’s imagination seems a small price to pay for such an engaging read.

Dancy, too, is wonderfully drawn and a great foil in contrast to Kate. His hotheadedness is tempered by his sense of honor, and Kate is won over by these very traits. “He is the first man who ever defended me without being paid to do it. One hardly looks for so much courage.” Meanwhile, Dancy is in awe of this efficient woman who takes command of a situation like a soldier. And a bit skeptical about how they will get on together, until he witnesses the depth of Kate’s compassion and the tenderness of her feelings. Part of the fun of this book is watching them negotiate their way towards a rewarding life together.

Captivating from page one, Viscount For Hire is a must read for anyone who loves the Regency period, historical romance, well crafted, engaging characters, and the spice of a little action/adventure. As Dancy remarks, “I have gotten myself skewered, assisted in an act of piracy, careened all over Oxfordshire on a fool’s errand, taken a bruising fall, and now…may witness the social disaster of the season. If you consider that dull, I shudder to think what would comprise excitement for you.”

Oh, yes, I’ll take one just like Dancy. And I’m betting you will too.

When Emma Sharpe is summoned to a convent on the Maine coast, it’s partly for her art crimes work with the FBI, partly because of her past with the religious order. At issue is a mysterious painting depicting scenes of Irish lore and Viking legends, and her family’s connection to the work. But when the nun who contacted her is murdered, it seems legend is becoming deadly reality.

Colin Donovan is one of the FBI’s most valuable assets—a deep–cover agent who prefers to go it alone. He’s back home in Maine after wrapping up his latest mission, but his friend Father Bracken presents him with an intrigue of murder, international art heists and a convent’s long–held secrets that is too tempting to resist. As the danger spirals ever closer, Colin is certain of only one thing—the very intriguing Emma Sharp is at the center of it all.

A ruthless killer has Emma and Colin in the crosshairs, plunging them into a race against time and drawing them deeper into a twisted legacy of betrayal and deceit.

While “Trust your faith. Let it guide you to act with strength, courage, and compassion” is good advice; it is not always easy to follow with a killer invades one’s life, whether one is a nun, an FBI agent, or a priest.

Emma Sharpe is an FBI agent and highly valued for her expertise in the field of art crime. For three years she’d been a part of the Sisters of the Joyful Heart convent, but left before taking final vows.

The international, multimillion dollar art crime operations are often linked with gun trafficking, drug trafficking, money laundering, kidnapping, fraud, extortion, and even terrorism. Emma is analytical and brings a unique perception to her work. While she can shoot straight and fight when needed, she is by nature thoughtful, reflective, contemplative, and prayerful. She needs her space at times to function at her best.

When her friend Sister Joan asks for help on a matter at the convent, Emma goes and finds herself entangled in murder and theft. Events that happened long ago that may involve Emma’s family as well as the convent and artists, long-dead, may be the cause of the upheaval at the convent.

The tangle of events from Dublin, Ireland to Maine keeps the adrenaline pumping. The many secondary characters and sub-plots help keep tensions high and emotions on full alert. Emma’s grandfather and brother become a part of the tangled web as do the nuns. The flighty young artist Ainsley deAuberville, her deceased father, and her fiancé Gabe Campbell add to the tangled web with their connection to Emma’s family and the convent.

Carla Neggers’ skill in foreshadowing and subtle clue-giving make suspense crackle like distant lightning that announces danger. Her characters come alive with their hang-ups, fears, past histories, and present needs. Father Finian Bracken is a character that intrigues with his connections and wealth in Ireland. The wide variety of characters make Saint’s Gate throb with life, mystery, and suspense with humor wrinkled in that makes one smile.

Ms. Neggers weaves bits of Viking lore, religious history, and art crimes into the immediate story of Emma and Colin as they ferret out a murderer and thief from the many possible suspects while they make a life-changing love connection that sizzles. The happy-ever-after is tenuous—not the usual and more a “happy for now”, but who knows what the future holds?

Saint’s Gate is one for the bookshelf to be enjoyed again.

I have to admit, this isn’t my first Linda Warren book. I’ve happily nabbed her other books when shopping. I know the writing will be tight, the characters engaging and I won’t be able to put the book down. The Texan’s Secret is no exception.

The moment I sat down to read this book, I literally couldn’t put it down. I had to know what would happen next. The characters jump right off the page. I love the twists and turns. Nothing happened quite how I’d expected.

Now, some might consider an oil man plot a little tired. Yes, it’s used a lot, but Linda Warren manages to add little touches that makes the story fresh. My one niggle was that here and there large chunks of info seemed plopped in. It slowed the story a bit, but did help my overall following of the tale.

I must say I rooted for Shay and Chance, especially when it looked really bad for the both of them. I could relate to Shay’s confusion and frustration. She only wants the best for Chance and herself. Ah, but life has different plans. I loved her strength and the fact that she didn’t back down. There’s issues she’s got to deal with that many people would struggle with. Kudos to Ms. Warren and Shay.

And that’s what makes this story really engaging–it wasn’t what I’d expected and I’m glad I got this book. And if I’m not mistaken, there are going to be more as there are plenty of brothers and fantastic secondary characters. I can’t wait.

Between secret government agencies experimenting with her sister’s gifts while she is still in a coma and her losing her grasp on reality, Maddie is on the road to destruction. The question is will she be able to pull herself together in time?

Well crafted, Dark Legacy is one of those books the reader will be loath to leave until the very end. There are so few authors who can blend the heart racing suspense of a great psychological thriller with the detail and character development that Anna DeStefano did to produce this magnificent book. If you are the type who loves a good suspense you will not only read this novel once, but you will want to come back and experience it again and again.

When the wagon carrying Odessa Clay and her father overturns, he is killed. She is left alone in the middle of the desert to try to find her way to kin in Phoenix. Hot, dry and scared, Odessa is near death when Zach Johnson finds her. Squinting up into his tanned and handsome face, she imagines she’s died and gone to heaven.

Would-be-outlaw, Zach comes across an unconscious woman alone in the middle of nowhere. Where did she come from? She appears young, but the curves beneath the dusty gingham say otherwise. He didn’t plan to become someone’s hero, but he cannot leave her helpless and stranded.

Will the promise of Odessa’s sweet lips lure Zach from the secret mission that has his gut twisted into a knot? His father’s ranch isn’t the only thing at stake—now it’s his heart, too.

Prepare to take a journey to the old west.

From the moment I started reading Odessa, I felt as though I had stepped back in time. Ms. Simpson makes excellent use of descriptive language that completely immersed me in the old west setting. “The sun sat high in the sky and pummeled her with heated fists. Sweat trickled down her face and neck and soaked her chemise. Her parched lips longed for a drink but she denied the need, fearing she’d not find water again soon…Her gaze scanned the lonely trail ahead; her spirits sagged.” When I read these few sentences, I felt like I was trudging through the desert with Odessa.

Odessa is certainly a feisty heroine. She is young and more than a little naïve, but she doesn’t let that slow her down one bit. When her father dies, she isn’t about to let the desert claim her life too. She sets off toward Phoenix. However, sometimes a positive attitude isn’t enough. If Zach hadn’t found her by the side of the road, Odessa would have died. Odessa is grateful, but her determination to “help” Zach by earning some money when they stop in Charleston only causes more problems for the pair. I couldn’t help but shake my head when Odessa stubbornly refused to listen to Zach. The ingredients of this tablet cipla cialis online are powered by FDA approved elements. ED ordering levitra online is an issue caused majorly due to certain psychological issues such as depression, mental issues or being depressed for a long time. Still, I liked her as a character. While Odessa makes many mistakes, her heart is pure and strong.

Zach is the perfect hero for Odessa. Like Odessa, Zach is young, but he’s strong, loyal, and a perfect gentleman. Despite Zach’s good moral fiber, he’s made a terrible mistake. He’s agreed to rob a stage in order to save his father’s ranch. Zach regrets his decision immediately, but he doesn’t see any other way. Zach’s internal struggle to make the right decision makes him a very relatable character. As I read, I was constantly in suspense about what Zach would do. Would he tell Odessa the reason he was traveling to Charleston? Would he actually rob the stage or would be back out? I won’t spoil the story by revealing Zach’s course of action, but I will say that I was surprised by Ms. Simpson’s interesting solution to Zach’s dilemma.

I also enjoyed the romance between Odessa and Zach. Neither Zach nor Odessa is very experienced in the ways of love, but the feelings they develop for each other are real and very strong. They have excellent chemistry and share a few passionate kisses. However, I liked that they didn’t rush into a physical relationship. Zach is the first man that Odessa has ever kissed and he knows that she isn’t ready to make love just yet. Zach truly won me over when he agreed to take things slowly so he and Odessa could learn about love together.

I’m glad I had the opportunity to read Odessa. The story has a nice, steady pace, the characters are likable, and the romance is sweet and truly touching. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good western romance.
