Who knew that the island of Grand Turk had such a lovely well sculpted mountain!! The locals sure didn’t know what hit them when Madame Eve sends Daniel to the island for his one-night stand rendezvous.
Mountain Claiming is a delicious addition to the 1 Night Stand family of stories. 1NS is a collection of short stories, written by some of the most talented authors out there. All of the stories have one thing in common, Madame Eve’s high-end, very expensive online dating service.

Daniel Long is a very large man. No, more like an extremely large man. At six-ten and almost 300 pounds, he is not what you would expect. He is gentle with the elderly, courteous of others, quiet and very unsure of himself. Daniel is an amazing gentle mountain of a man. He also has an injured heart in need of reassurance, love and healing. When he signed up for Madame Eve’s service, he expected to start to get over the pain of a past relationship and move on. He got that and a lot more. The “more” is in the form of Jagger Castillo, brother to Jackson Castillo, the owner of Castillo hotels and resorts. Hotel manager of the Grand Turk branch, Jagger is in for a surprise. Madame Eve has sent a client to the resort and she needs his help. Jagger is captivated by the giant man in front of him. His coloring is like sinful chocolate, a body built for pleasure, and a southern drawl that would make a grown man’s knees buckle. Jagger also sees the pain and sadness in his beautiful eyes. Instantly drawn to Daniel, the only thing Jagger can do is help Madame Eve.
I loved Daniel right from the start. He was endearing but wounded. When Daniel told his story I was so sad and my heart went out to him. Loving the compassionate and amazing man was all I could do. Ms. Dean did an outstanding job portraying Daniel in such a short time. She left me wanting more of him and Jagger, but I was very satisfied all around. While Jagger played a much smaller role in the story, I was just as drawn to him. I wanted to hold and protect Daniel, but with Jagger, I was cheering, grinning and wanted to give him a high-five. He knew what Daniel needed and was able to give it to him in a believable way.
Short stories are hard pressed to please people quickly and efficiently. Authors have to outline the plot, build characters, and develop a believable storyline. All in the shortest amount of time possible. Ms. Dean makes a tough job look easy. She put a whole lot of love, healing and understanding in a nice little package. Mountain Claiming is a wonderful love-at-first-sight story. She played all my emotions like a professional. What a great job and a definite keeper for my bookshelf!
