Personally, I’m not too thrilled with this whole dominance/submission thing but that doesn’t make them monsters.

Unfortunately, not all of them are like Mace. We call the others rabids. Wild and crazy dangerous, most run when they get their asses kicked. We tripped over the one group that won’t run — and now the real monsters are pissed.

This series just keeps getting better with each book. In this most recent installment in Mace and Daniel’s life we get to see more of what makes them tick. Another threat has come about and Mace must not only keep his pack safe but others as well. Can Daniel and Mace’s relationship survive through all the chaos and the new stress that threatens their love?

I was nicely surprised with the depth of Daniel’s emotions and traumas in this book. Even before the virus hit the world Daniel had a hard life. Dealing with the chaos and all the threats has not helped Daniel and when things come to a head I enjoyed seeing the faith and trust that he has in Mace. I love Mace and he shows me just why once again in this book. He is a true alpha who cares for all those in his pack and many outside it who need his help. His love for Daniel is so strong it is almost a palpable thing. Mace is ready to do whatever it takes to give Daniel what he needs and just loved what he does in the end for Daniel. Proving how much he loves and needs Daniel. With all the threats coming at Mace and the pack it is surprising he has time for Daniel but time he has even if he has to make it. Showing that there is so much more to their relationship than just lust.

It was nice to see more of the inner workings of the pack as well. We not only get to see the development of Mace and Daniel’s relationship but also many more secondary characters and their emotions. I enjoyed seeing how each of them inter act with each other and how. Adding in others from different packs was also a nice read. This author has done a wonderful job of bringing this world to life and keeping me wanting more. I hope that we get to see more from these characters in the future.

I found myself completely enthralled in their heated “love-scenes” and anxious to turn the page to reveal yet another facet of these character’s rekindling romance. Regina Carlysle made the descriptive overview of her characters come to life in vivid technicolor, as I felt I could see her characters in precise detail. Fanning myself through this story was a given, but even that hardly helped with cooling this reader down. I was completely drawn into this romance and found myself reaching for my hormone pills in case this hot flash combusted! I would say the love scenes were hotter than Texas in July!

With interesting and colorful side characters, I found myself hoping to read about their lives and romances in future installments. I really like that as the reader I could see the humbleness and insecurities of both characters in their quirks and their banter making them seem so touchable and real.

I was extremely impressed with the fluidity of the storyline that flowed so sensually. Regina Carlysle’s smooth story-telling lured this reader into her fictional reality completely. I found myself reading this book non-stop from start to finish without even realizing that my allotted leisure time had passed by. In fact I read this story twice, that is how much I enjoyed it. The editing was great on this book and my only complaint was that the story was so short (sorry guys, that is always my complaint on short stories and I am aware this is my problem not the story’s). I would have loved to read more about these characters and their lives, but for a short story again I say Regina Carlysle really brought this story to life.

I also was very impressed with the believable and satisfying ending which left me hopeful and pleased. Ms. Daniels has imbued the people in her story with dimension and real character which endeared me to them and had me cheering them on to the end. For, in the end, Kara, Harper and even Kara’s father all find the higher ground and are left with the great rewards of overcoming their challenges.

I eagerly await the next installments in this new series and hope that they are as entertaining and inspiring as this one is. I recommend, Sizzle at Sea, book one in the Long and Hard series to all romance lovers who want a dose of exciting adventure with their ‘sizzle’!

I must admit after developing somewhat of a relationship with the Browns and with Lauren Dane, her character of Gillian is not exactly personable or endearing at first. She is distant, combative and even a little snobbish, but the continued attention and determination of the Browns soften her exterior and her heart. It is a treat to watch the defensive walls built by both of the characters slowly come tumbling down.

When it comes to family drama and romance you will never go wrong with a Lauren Dane novel. This is one of her best!!

Joy Rockwell is strong and determined, and loyal to those she cares for. She is also strong in magic, and a good match for the strength of Zareb. I love her sassy attitude and her take no prisoners approach to life. I liked that, although she is new to the shifter community, she trusts in her mate completely and without question. I love that they share power, to the benefit of both, and that she is willing to step back when Zareb asks. I also love her determination to convince Zareb that he is worthy of having a mate, namely her.

Zareb is strong, and carries a burden of guilt that keeps him from being happy. He feels unworthy of Joy and her love, and he doubts himself and his mission. I liked the fact that Zareb was willing to let Joy take the lead at times in their relationship, not needing to be the big strong man all the time. There is a sharing of power and of souls that is unique to these two, and it is possible because his inner strength and his sense of the past and its connection to the present.

This is a fast paced adventure, with danger around every turn in the path for Joy and Zareb and their friends. The passion in this one explodes off the page early and often, and it was impossible to put down. Ms. Jones raises the heat level in this with several hot scenes, both in the jungle, and again back in civilization.

Origins finally gives the reader a look into where and how events have unfolded, and offers a glimpse into a possible future for the Masters pack and all shifters. The supporting cast is perfect in this one, and I enjoyed looking at the progress of these characters as they find their unique place in the pack. I recommend that this series be read in order to get the whole picture of what is happening in the world of passion and magic and power.

At first he is too insecure to say the L word, which is often even the case with very confident men. He is worried that Jill will turn tail and run, as she did ten years before, never giving him a chance to explain.

There is also a foul air hanging over the upcoming celebration in the town. I don’t want to give away the plot, but there are some very interesting developments which Jill and Gabe become key to solving and there is a menacing element of danger in this sub plot.

The main story is the evolving love and trust between the two main characters, and it is a sweet and sexy story, indeed. I found this to be a hot, engaging romance that I am eager to recommend to all. It has something for almost everyone in the ‘heat’ department, so be prepared to be very entertained. Valiant is an incredible addition to this brilliant series! There is a whole lot of GRRRRR going on…

I just adore the paranormal genre; vampires, werewolves, shifters, etc. I just can’t get enough of them. It sure would be nice to have some otherworldliness in our simple existence, but unless there really is a deeply hidden secret that they do exist, it likely won’t happen. If you sit back and really think of some of the crazy things scientists have done in the past, Ms. Dohner’s world CAN happen. Gene splicing is something that probably is being done as we speak. She addresses possibilities that are tantalizing and fresh.

New Species are genetically engineered beings that are human and animal. The were developed in a laboratory and treated cruelly until they were discovered and freed. Too different to be integrated into the general public, they have settled in two locations on the west coast. Hate groups and narrow-mindedness force them to live in protected private communities.

In the last book, Reservation was in the final stages of construction. It is a home for the New Species who are more animal then human. That is where we met Valiant, a New Species with a strong resemblance to a lion. He has very strong feline features and a purely animalistic temperament. He has no desire to deal with humans and all he wants is to be left alone. While he is lonely and desires a mate, he only wants to be mated to a big, strong, sturdy New Species female. That all changed when he scented Tammy.

One wrong turn and Tammy is face to face with a fiercely frightening man. She has never been more terrified in her life or more turned on. Tammy and Valiant’s meeting was electrifying; an amazing opening scene for the novel. It captured Valiant’s animal side and tendencies perfectly. While Tammy was rendered incoherent, Valiant was also blindsided. It was such a joy to watch the big man brought to his knees. When we first met Valiant he personified the inhabitants of the Wild Zone, the location on Reservation that was exclusively utilized by New Species that had little or no humanity in them. Valiant really was more beast then human, now he seems more New Species, the perfect blend of both animal and human. Ms. Dohner did an astonishing job with his transformation. He is possessive and overprotective, but he yearns to keep her and is willing to grow and learn to understand her. The big ones always fall the hardest!

I never found the storyline predictable. It was fresh and invigorating. Their existence is too new and threatening to humans. They have a long road to acceptance and it is clear that bad things will happen to them. Their homes will be attacked, humans associated to them will be threatened, New Species will be untrusting of humans and acceptance will be slow and painful. These are all common occurrences in all three books. I’m glad that Ms. Dohner hasn’t come up with unrealistic quick fixes and made their world all pansies and roses. It would read untrue and she would lose me as a reader. The New Species rock my world!

Valiant is easily my favorite book of the New Species series. One right after the other, these books are hot, erotic, and sexy and filled with passion and adventure. Dive into the possibilities, lose yourself in the fantasy and escape the boredom of your life. The New Species are waiting to capture your heart.

This story drew me in from the very beginning and held me in a bear hug up until the last word. While the direction of the plot was evident to me, it did not make it any less entertaining. This was one of the best storylines I have read in a while and I absolutely relished it. I really cannot say one specific thing that really made this story a standout because everything was done to make it extremely satisfying. Therefore, if forced seduction or ménage’s are not your thing I think you may still find this scene tastefully executed. I am sure this will be the first of many of Author Em Petrova stories I read.
