Johnny immediately invites her back and makes her dinner, which just melted my heart. Then Monday hits and both Johnny and Destiny are in shock about their experience. Johnny can’t believe what’s happened to him and that he wasn’t his usual strong dominant self. So he invites her back to right their relationship. Instead of “righting” the situation, their relationship grows stronger and the change in Johnny is apparent to everyone. Then Johnny does something so fun to read about. He utterly messes up! My heart had already fallen in love with Johnny, and at that point I just swooned.

Johnny and Destiny are supported by their friends. Destiny confides in her boss Bonita, a lesbian sub. Bonita’s a great friend who doesn’t judge and helps Destiny come to grips with what’s happening. Not to mention Destiny’s ex-boyfriend who shows up and points out some interesting things out to her. Johnny’s friend is Matt. Matt is the brother of Johnny’s first love. Matt and Johnny play together with Destiny for one steaming ménage. Matt is an old friend who can tell Johnny the absolute truth. They’ve both shared and been changed by a tragedy. I really like Matt, and definitely see him getting his own story.

Ms. Baker’s Bottoms Up has everything I look for in a book: a great story, intriguing characters who grow, a voice that draws you in, and smoking hot sex. In Ms. Baker’s Bottoms Up, Samhain Publishing has given me a wonderful last present for the year 2010. I can’t tell you how wonderfully surprised I was by this book. It was more than I expected, and I highly recommend it.

Megan is a realist. I like that she was determined to get on with life, after pining for Des for four long years. I loved seeing her make a new life with Alex, at least until she realizes what she really wants. Then her determination to have it all is just fantastic.

Des and Alex are perfect for Meg. Alex is the romantic and spontaneous one, while Des is the brooding hero who gives up his dreams to see the woman he loves happy. They are both hunks of the first order, and I can see why Meg can’t choose between them. What sane woman could?

This has it all; romance, hot sex between two people, then more screaming hot action between three people. There are tears, drama, laughter, and most of all, there is love between these three people who grow to be so much more together than they are apart. I recommend this for all who love hot romantic episodes, and I must warn you to have the cold drinks handy.

These are thirteen hot and sexy stories, each with a great set of characters and lots of humor and imagination. These are fun to read, and each has a unique holiday theme to it. I loved the different happy ever afters for each one, and I recommend lots of ice and maybe a few spare batteries.

Can Darren believe in Asher’s promise that they were meant to be together or will an unknown assailant kill him before he realizes that being the alpha mate is what he desires most in the world?

Love can be found in the strangest places. This is true for Darren and Asher.

Darren’s ability to embrace Asher and his lifestyle is admirable. He thought for years he was crazy because of the voice in his head. When he finds out the “voice” is really his mate, he does not have time to comprehend what is going on because he must quickly run for his life. Even while trying to figure out everything going on he still knows that Asher is the man for him and will do anything to protect his mate. I cannot say I would have been as accepting as Darren is had it been me. Though I am happy we were because it made for a excellent read.

The way this story ended was definitely bittersweet. I think the final conflict was excellent and breathtaking I would just like have known what the fate of the antagonists was. I was shocked that part was left out. I actually had to go back to make sure I did not miss a page. Let’s just hope Ms. Stormy Glenn will let us know in the sequel to this series.

The plot of this story was action-packed. It had more twist and turns than a twisted cheese curl. As soon as I thought I was starting to figure out who was after Darren and Asher something would develop and I would be back to square one. It definitely made the story an interesting read that I could not put down.

Somewhere in the cobwebbed cellar of the decrepit antebellum mansion known as Ballineen are the legendary Lee bottles — and Austin Gillespie is there to find them. The last thing on his mind is a hot and heavy romance with handsome bad boy Jeff Brady. But Jeff has other ideas and, after one intoxicating night, so does Austin.

The only problem is they have different ideas. Jeff doesn’t believe in love at first sight, and even if he did, he’s buried more deeply in the closet than those famous missing bottles of vintage Madeira. Popping a cork or two is one thing. Popping the question? No way. No how.

Unless Austin is ready to give up on another dream, he’s going to have to figure out how to make sure the lights go on — and stay on — in Georgia.

The lure of a possible fortune in wine, a handsome bad boy and murder – and poor Austin’s just arrived at Ballineen. All the elements of Southern Gothic are here in abundance: the decadence, the decay, a highly dysfunctional, wealthy clan in decline, lives bound by traditions worn about the edges and questionable morals. Once the elements are in place, though, Mr. Lanyon turns the genre on its head. Much to my relief, this is not the heavy, plodding miasma of Faulkner. Austin’s observations and internal commentary render the story darkly funny rather than depressing, and the Cashels are close enough to over-the-top to qualify as parody. (Even the Irish place-name of the house is a sly wink at Gone With the Wind’s Tara.)

As a sommelier, that rare breed of person who truly has the ability to distinguish all the subtle nuances of a good wine rather than simply mouthing the right oenological terms, Austin could easily have come across as an elitist snob. Instead, he immediately charms the reader. Without too much in the way of “telling”, we know in the first few paragraphs that Austin faces his task at Ballineen with a certain sense of imminent disaster. The tension between the two men, the constant push and pull of identity and assumption, of denial and doubt, lends a tinderbox snap and spark to the story, delicious and anxious. With an unwavering single first-person POV, Mr. Lanyon lets the reader see enough of Austin’s life and his past that we desperately want to see him happy. Perhaps the only issue I had with the story, and it’s a small one, is that I would have liked a little more at the resolution. Call me sentimental.

Though I’m a bit embarrassed to admit it, this was my first Josh Lanyon book. It most certainly won’t be my last. With beautiful, literate prose, he weaves a tale that defies categorization, (Southern Gothic Parody Mystery Oenological Gay Romance is not a genre I’ve come across before) and he does it with style. At no point did I find it necessary to suspend disbelief. Austin’s knowledge of and love for wine comes across as genuine, as an integral part of his character. His over-achieving family, Jeff’s deeply closeted denial, and even some of the neurotic Cashels transcend parody, all too believable in their worst moments. With love scenes that achieve lyric status and a bright, engaging mix of humor and tension, this is not your garden-variety romance. This is a Château Margaux among the Gallos.

While Pell and Dathan are secondary characters in this novel their story is beautiful, poignant and pivotal to the plot. There is a rogue Fallen that does the dirty work and then there is the evil “puppet master” that manipulates the Fallen as well as circumstances to put himself into a position of power. This is a very typical bad guy plan that isn’t quite completed by the end of this story. That was just fine by me because that means that hopefully Ms. Marsh is planning a follow-up book that will allow us to revisit Brend, Mischka, Pell, Dathan and the rest of the Fallen to see if they find the redemption they were promised.
