Dealing with the after effects of rape in a novel is tough. It is something that can trigger both the writer and the reader into remembering things best left in the past. In this book, Amanda is dealing with her memories of the tragedy and her family’s refusal to help. Kyrna gets past her defenses but the walls are thrown up again when she gets a little too adventurous in her therapy efforts. Bringing a man into their lovemaking sets Amanda off, even after declarations of love. Will they resolve their differences? Will Amanda admit she could maybe be involved with Michael, Kyrna’s best friend, and share her?

The tension in the book was good, I had an issue with the snark at the onset of the novel. I want to see what sets a character off, not read about it in a summed up narrative. It is more real for me that way. The immediate chemistry was fine, but in a sleazy catty way that left me a little cold at the start. I want to have an emotional connection to the character first, not a boink fest.

The final blow, I think was the introduction of BDSM to the sex scenes without a necessary conversation with Amanda. Let me be clear. You need to know what you are getting into before you go into a scene, especially when you are dealing with a rape victim. The author did try to capture this, but there was more opportunity to show a gradual trust building and her acquiescence. One other note; BDSM is great. Overall, I liked the conflict caused by Amanda’s necessary aloofness, but wanted a little more emotional connection to the character, both in the bedroom and out of it. Her feelings deepen and when she sees Jamie in the arms of a man, she drops her like a hot potato. Therein lies the conflict of the story. Is Jamie ready to commit to another woman? Will Giselle answer her phone after leaving with no explanation? A taste of Paris, an almost romance and a final episode of self-discovery make this a fun and lively read.

The sensuality and low undercurrents of the book are appealing and the characters believable. Going to a new country as a salesperson would be a scary endeavor. Finding someone who shows you the ropes will bond anyone, but in this case, the two ladies involved find an enduring passion that was refreshing. The sex scene in the back of the book was tastefully done and left many possibilities yet untapped. I enjoyed the book and will look for more works by this author.

They were such an integral part of Liu’s journey that not knowing exactly what a heart-stone was temporarily dampened my enjoyment of an otherwise fascinating tale.

I finished reading the last paragraph wishing it would never end. While I don’t know if Ms. Sharp has any plans to catch up with Liu again in the future, I hope she will consider making this into a series. Liu is a well written, likable character whose instant bond with the woman she meets illuminates both of their complex personalities. There are so many more stories to tell about these characters.

Mismatched is a nearly perfect blend of sci-fi/fantasy, romance, and smoking hot erotica. I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates jumping from one genre to the next in the span of a few sentences.

Cecily must use all of her skills as a spy to find out the secrets of this exotic land and stop a curse before it destroys everything she begins to hold dear.

This book really took me far and wide. At first you have a kidnapping fantasy with rip roaring sex that honestly left me breathless. Then you have a ménage with kinky toys that made me crunch ice. ( A lot). Then you add a paranormal twist and I couldn’t decide what I enjoyed more. It all worked. Every part of it. The action was amazing and the sex scenes sizzled through my e-reader. The other thing about this book was the steampunk elements that added spice to an already fun plot. The whole idea of benefactors and succubae, as well as the rolls they play in the vampire community, was new to me and it quickly caught and kept my attention. Ella is just coming into her powers and doesn’t quite have the control she needs just yet. The results are stimulating to say the least.

The chemistry and attraction between Ella and Dominic is pretty hot but that’s not the whole story. Someone is secretly inducing unregistered benefactors but not for the benefit of everyone. It doesn’t take the good guys long to figure out who it is but I was very impressed with how they deal with those who don’t follow the vampire protocol.

I was a little disappointed to note some editing issues but the story was interesting enough to keep my reading to satisfying end of Ella and Dominic’s story. It’s not the last we’ll hear of them, though, I’m sure.

This is obviously an ongoing story and Ms. De Paulao set up the sequel with several delicious teasers. If you think you’ve read everything there is to know about vampires, Addicted to Fang may surprise you.

Not only has I.J. Miller captured the essence of the original heartbreak of this book, he gave me many sleepless nights dreaming about Wuthering Heights and The Grange. Erotic, toe curling action interwoven with the story brought a new vibrancy to this already well loved tale and now I can’t think of one without superimposing the other. This was no meek story that snored along like some erotic classics I have read in the past. Oh no. This one will have you clutching a bottle of ice water and gasping for air. The sex scenes are scorching and offer a deeper insight into the characters and their motivations. It is raw, visceral, full of psychological elements that delve deep into the minds of the characters and make you question your own reactions to what you are reading. Heathcliff’s character is true to form. He is a brute, through and through. I.J. Melissa is pierced and inked and I could see her standing vividly before me as they shared dialogue and more.

In My Skin is a short story, there isn’t a whole heap of plot, but when you pick up one of these quickies you know it’s just about the characters getting down and dirty in the quickest way possible. But still, I enjoyed how In My Skin made me like Melissa and Kendra and become invested in Kendra’s dilemma and how Melissa helped her through it. The sex is hot and steamy, raunchy and rude; I wasn’t disappointed.

There are twenty three poems and short stories that take eroticism and throw it to the winds, letting it fall wherever it may. These short pieces and pearls of poetry take in gay, straight, lesbian and everything in between and craft moving tales and thoughts that both arouse and make you think about what you are reading. To me, it was a love story; a gift to the reader that appreciates fine writing and not your typical episodes of BDSM.

The short works of fiction in this collection blew my mind. They are windows into worlds that some of us never imagine we could be a part of. Isn’t that the true gift of reading, or writing for that matter? The ability to read something and go somewhere far, far away from the screaming kids, the endless day at work, or doing the supper dishes. As an author, the greatest joy I have is in writing something that invokes that feeling, and Elissa Wald did just that. This book was one of the most engaging reads I have read in quite awhile. Think brilliant primary colors. Think carnival lights and swarthy men with tattoos. Think sex.

From the first story, The Initiation, where we meet Delilah, a budding submissive who struggles with the demons inside her, to the sexy Kim who isn’t quite sure what to make of Delilah’s fixation on pain. The sixth story, Turned Out, is a beautiful story about hope growing up from a bed of concrete. Nelson has just gotten out of prison and while he is happy, his senses are on overload. He misses the routine and security of the life inside and the domineering partnership he shared with The Axe, the male dominant he subbed to inside. This piece walks you through deep feelings and longings of the heart.

The last story, The Illustrating Man, is one that will stick in your mind long after you have read it. Sexy and as intricate as a well done tattoo, this story takes off when a female reporter finds out a childhood savior is wanted for murder. In a beautifully wound tale, the author shows you people that were affected by the artist’s insight and unique method of tattooing. It is sensual and one that scratches down into the deepest part of you and leaves a mark.

The poetry in this collection is also inspiring, spiritual and evocative.

If you are looking for a book that takes you into the souls of many unique and worthy characters, then you need to read this collection. Rich, lush and full of vibrant eroticism, this book is a keeper on my favorite shelf. You won’t forget any of the characters and how easily this author can slip into the minds of anyone and walk a mile in their shoes. The erotic portions are done very well and titillate the mind as well as the body.

I found myself losing some of that erotic build up in these areas. Mostly though this extended scene was a realistic, steamy coming together of two girls. I particularly liked how neither were instant porn stars. Heather describes some of the sex sounds, and there were a few times as they came together where limbs were awkward and Heather was unsure of the mechanics of girl on girl. It made the read much more realistic to me and funny in a sexy, hot way.

For a reader who isn’t very big on F/F (like myself) I thought this was a cute, easy introduction to the genre. There’s a really intriguing twist half way through that caught me totally by surprise. I can’t say much more without spoiling – but after Heather and Tasha’s scene there is progression, and a smoking hot M/F scene with Heather. The male character is a large, domineering man who is equal parts anti-hero and sexy dominant. There is some mild bondage (the use of restraints), dirty talk, spanking and a sex scene that I found very hot, but isn’t for the faint of heart.

This story won’t be for everyone, but I found it delightfully explicit, well written and the erotica sizzling hot. If you’re open to your stories being on the raunchy, naughty side, don’t mind a bit of F/F action and like your heroes tall, darkly handsome, not necessarily pure of heart and more than a little spicy, I’d recommend this story for you.
