Oh my goodness, oh my goodness. Every time I say that I think of the movie, Annie. It’s totally irrelevant but that is how I feel after finishing Cupid Returns to the Lonesome Buzzard Ranch. I read the first book in the series and was anticipating this release. A significant amount of time has passed since I finished the first book but I was pleased that it all came back to me once I started reading book two. I can see how this could be read as a standalone but I just can’t suggest that with good conscience. The overall experience is more fulfilling if they are read in consecutive order. In fact, when the series is complete, I think I’ll go back and binge read all of them again.

I didn’t hesitate this time reading a book with multiple romances going on since I didn’t have an issue with the first book in the series. I dove in with confidence that I’d be treated with an entertaining read. I suggest the reader to check out the synopsis and decide if they think it sounds too busy for them or not. I typically would have a hard time with this type of romance book but Hebby Roman is one of my trusted authors. I know her writing style will smoothly guide me through the transitions.

Once again, I can’t pick which was my favorite couple. However, I’d lean towards Christine and Connor. They made me laugh the most. Each couple is unique and lovable. I got an extra chuckle because I actually read this book on Valentine’s Day. I can’t think of a better holiday to read a romance book. There was an abundance of love in the air today. If you’re looking for a fun read with elements of comedy then pick up this witty romance book.

Cupid Comes to the Lonesome Buzzard Ranch was a pleasant surprise and an interesting read. I gave this story a chance because I’ve read other Hebby Roman books and loved them. This story continued the trend – I’m adding this one to my keeper shelf too. After reading the synopsis I was worried it would be too busy for me to follow. I can confidently assure readers that if I can follow and connect with four leading men and their prospective others during a chaotic Valentine’s Day weekend, it’s safe to say anyone can.

Not only do I consider this a contemporary romance book, I consider it a fun comedy. I genuinely laughed out loud quite a few times while reading the story. The plot was creative and written well. There were some predictable parts but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment. The attention to detail sparked my curiosity enough to consider visiting a B&B for a weekend. I’ve never been to a B&B before and while I know it couldn’t possibly be as wonderful as the Lonesome Buzzard Ranch, I’d still like to try staying at one.

Cupid Comes to the Lonesome Buzzard Ranch was basically four romances going on at the same time, like a soap opera, all in one book. I honestly can’t say which leading character I preferred since I loved them all. They all received their happily ever after and I couldn’t think of a better way to pass a few hours. I’m so thankful I was the one that got to review this book.

This is a short novel but covers a lot. This story is about forgiveness, using caution when wanting to love and trust again but it also touches on a tough topic. Ruth is judged because she was held captive and is pregnant by a warrior of the Comanche tribe. Jacob Wells is a U.S. Cavalry scout that is looked upon as being beneath the other Army member’s because of his mixed race. Both had something in common and grew from that. They couldn’t help how they were formed or being held captive but they didn’t let that make them bitter. Their time spent together and the growth of their relationship help lighten the heaviness of the story. Their relationship brought a refreshing and sweet romance to the story.

Ruth is a strong character that held up under tremendous pressure. With her shattered heart from a horrific past event she opens up to trust only to be deceived. I did think Ruth was a little harsh at the end of the book. Even though she was hurt she didn’t have compassion for Nellie’s situation. All of the characters had it tough. Nellie and Captain Ezekiel O’Connor weren’t exempt. Their heart’s desire to have children only to be disappointed time after time tugged at my heart. Reading their story made me think about what I would do in either of the women’s circumstances.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I enjoyed the storyline and the two main characters Ruth and Jacob. I admire both for their strength and good will. I enjoyed reading their story and wanted their lives to have a happy ending. This is a well developed plot that not only hooked me but it drew me in to want to read book two in the series.

I’m not much of an Urban Dictionary follower but the synopsis for Mallory: The Mail Order Bride was an excellent example of “Hook and Reel”. Though, after finishing the book, the phrase “Hook, Line and Sinker” feels more appropriate. Where I come up with these analogies is astonishing to me. My husband says that my brain works like a spaghetti module when they are trying to predict the path of a hurricane. Regardless, if the synopsis sounds intriguing to you as it did to me then definitely give this book a chance. I was hooked and the plot reeled me in and the epilogue sunk me.

This happens to be book three in the A West Texas Frontier Trilogy. I did finish book two and went straight into book three. To be honest I haven’t read book one. I guess that’s further proof of my spaghetti module brain or the fact that these books in this series can be read as standalones. I was surprised after reading book two and immediately reading book three that the hero, William Gregor, was still at Fort Clark. I was left under the impression that he was going to have to be reassigned at the end of book two. I guess that doesn’t matter but I picked up on that. That little tidbit wouldn’t matter to a reader reading Mallory’s story first in the series.

Hebby Roman is fast becoming one of my favorite authors, for once again she wrote a superior quality romance story. There is depth to her plots lines that pull at my heartstrings. I am consistently engaged in the setting, with the characters, and with the thought provoking emotional conflicts.

The heroine, Mallory, has endured more than any one person should. To see her triumph over life’s challenges gives one encouragement and hope. It was touching to see William’s heart heal from the loss of his wife. Together, Mallory and William made a sweet romance.

The first couple of pages in this story start off slow and then all of a sudden I was on the edge of my seat, holding my breath. The narrative did settle down after that heart stopping scene and glided steady throughout the rest of the book. There was a couple of other tense moments but not as thrilling as the first. Needless to say this story provides the reader with unpredictable entertainment.

If you live in a tropical climate and need to escape to a vast and treacherous mountain terrain, then this is the book for you. With the dry air and cooler temperatures, this refreshing, lovely romance story makes the must read list!

For a book that only has ten chapters it packed a punch. The pace flowed effortlessly from one scene to another. I knew not to blink or I would miss something. The writing style transported me back in time, Fort Clark, Texas-1875. I literally groaned for the heroine, Cristabelle, who was a laundress at Fort Clark. I can’t imagine the back pain or the pain in my hands I’d have from that arduous labor.

This is my second Hebby Roman romance book. I find it interesting that in each book I learned something that I never knew before. It’s rather fun to read a romance book and walk away slightly more educated. The last time I learned something it was about how hard and dirty of a job it was to shear sheep’s wool, since the setting was on a sheep ranch. This time the setting was an Army post. Fort Clark’s purpose was to guard the border. Hebby Roman has a natural skill in writing entertaining romance stories with purpose. This talent is a rare quality trait found in romance books.

The hero, David aka Davie, was a solider in Company C. He brought amusement into the plot. His bravery would earn him a promotion and then his shenanigans would lose him a stripe. One thing for sure was his fondness for Cristabelle. Cristabelle had some emotional conflict issues within herself that she needed to work out before she could accept Davie’s love. Davie knew he loved Cristabelle but was she worth giving up his Army life for? Would she be happy as an Army wife? So much uncertainty.

I found Christabelle: The Christmas Bride to be a wholesome quality romance story that was enriched with well-developed characters that produced an emotionally rewarding love story between Cristabelle and David. Hebby Roman’s writing style has a high caliber of its own.

If you’re looking for an interesting and satisfying plot that will entertain you for a few hours then give this book a try. I’m glad I did.

I thought the story was nicely written and flowed smoothly. The plot was intriguing and the characters were well developed. My interest was captured immediately and never faltered throughout the story.

I prefer stories with an epilogue and when I find a story that includes a prologue as well, that’s a definite bonus. It makes me feel more connected to the characters. This story had both. Chad and Ginney’s story is a sweet romance. I was torn between Chad being honorable and a coward but that is what hooked me. Thankfully, at the end he was redeemed and they concluded with their happily ever after.

I enjoyed reading the developing “Best Friend Forever” friendship between Lindsay and Ginney. They were there for each other when they most needed each other’s support. They both were kind and generous women. Bart and Chad were quite lucky to be the recipients of their love.

There was a trace amount of suspense threaded throughout the story with Chad and Bart fighting off outlaws bent on revenge which ended in a clever twist.

One thing that stood out for me was this being the first story I’ve ever read that was set on a sheep ranch. I had no idea how hard and dirty of a job it was to shear their wool.

The title was slightly misleading. This isn’t a traditional holiday book. There was only one epic Christmas scene which changed the course of the story.

I only wish the story was stretched out to be longer because there were a few things I would have enjoyed reading more about. I can easily recommend this book for a quick, easy and entertaining read.

He certainly is through the eyes of Lindsay, until her brother suggests that Bart marry Lindsay as part of their partnership deal, thus hiding his sister’s unwed pregnancy. And once we find out that Lindsay’s brother, Chad, saved Bart’s life and now Bart is indebted to him, the readers will cheer his creative matchmaking.

The reality of it all is…is Lindsay worthy of Bart? Is Bart worthy of Lindsay?

This is a short book, which touches on Christmas, but not nearly as much as the title pretends. The holiday aspect is almost non-existent, which is a shame, really. I was looking forward to experiencing a real Christmas in 1896, but alas, it was not to be so. No decorated tree, no ornaments, no presents, no holiday, at all, really. Christmas day is important, but not in the traditional, festive sense.

I also found Lindsay a bit grating, maybe too judgmental for me, and the story was too short to care a lot about the characters. It is a good historical short read, and I can never imagine myself finding a Hebby Roman story disappointing, she is so talented, but I would have enjoyed a more in-depth storyline and more of Ginny and her family. (Props to the addition of Minnie, a Maltese!)

Anyone who loves historical fiction (the addition of Judge Roy Bean, albeit short-lived, was wonderful!) will sink right into this story, probably finishing it with delight by the firelight before the year ends.
