I have to admit I have a weakness for anything set during the Regency and this book didn’t disappoint in any way.

Ms. Gabrielle did a wonderful job at allowing me, the reader, to be immersed in this very unique period in history. The luxuries, the social hierarchy, the customs and the extremes. Everything was detailed perfectly, and an added bonus was I learned another thing or two about the Regency. I’m guessing that she’s done lots of reading and research not only on this period but all aspects of everyday life in the 1820s.

I enjoyed reading about both the lead characters. At first I thought, oh no another story about two people posing as a couple, but the intrigue and storyline was unique enough to overlook this.

The dialogue is spot on. Sophie, the main character, is one you cheer for. Not only in finding the truth behind her father’s death but you hope she gets her man too. The pacing is fast and I found myself enjoying the last one hundred pages all in one sitting just to find out what happened.

For me there’s nothing better than a good Regency story and if you too like a romance peppered with a color historical setting, and not to mention lots of page turning intrigue, I’d definitely give this one a try. I know I’ll be checking out more of the author’s work.

Ms. Miller does use the fated mate scenario but it’s not so clear cut and personalities do play a role. The revelation of how it all works, especially when one dies, is amazing and a very creative solution to a perplexing issue. Instead of magically making things work out, the author made the knowledge confuse her hero which I found a fascinating and effective reason for conflict.

This novel is told in third person point of view and is a character driven romance. There are no villains to fight, no dire threats to overcome and Faith and Carter do not have to save the world. They just need to stop a puppy from trying to make every day hump day, and how to get the things they want out of life without losing the best thing they have, each other.

Faith is a sweet heroine. She has a heart of gold but doesn’t have the funds to support it. A reader gets a sense of her loyalty, her sense of humor and most importantly, her sense of self. The belief in who she is gets tested in this novel. What I saw was a heroine forced to face her fears, and in doing so, grow and reach her true potential. At times it was painful and others, fun. It seemed the storyline wallowed in her shortcomings a bit too long in some spots but fortunately the action picked up and the plot moved on. I liked her spunk and her determination to make an edible casserole.

Carter is a very conflicted man. He knows what he wants but it’s not what he wants. It took a perfect stranger to figuratively wallop him over the head with the truth and make him see that his worst fear was a self-fulfilled prophesy. Carter had to get out of his own way. That being said, he really was a dear. He’s funny, earnest, dedicated and focused. Many times I got the hint of his true feelings for Faith but he cluelessly attributed it something else – always something else. He’s dense but not stupid. Carter comes around in a typical man-like way and I was amused. He also can be very romantic, which was a bonus.

When Carter and Faith finally do the physical tango, it doesn’t produce magic. It muddies things a bit because their heads weren’t in the right place. That was a heart wrencher but it also gave me hope. There’s more than a spark there and I enjoyed watching it eventually flame into an inferno. The sensual build up tormented them and I was entertained.

So I Married a Werewolf is a treat. It’s the perfect story for readers who enjoy the “friends to lovers” scenario. Naturally it has the typical worry about messing things up with their friendship because they don’t want to lose each other, but it’s how the author worked and manipulated their worry that made this book easy to read and enjoy. Faith and Carter are wonderful together.

If a reader wants to kick back and read a nice romance story between two people who just happen to turn furry and howl at the moon, So I Married a Werewolf is a good choice.

Tell Me Something Good has a nice amount of competitiveness and conflicts between Noelle and Tate, and each scene makes it clearer that the tension is the result of their mutual attraction and their fear to admit it. All this made the chemistry between Noelle and Tate sizzling.

Not that the stubborn Noelle would ever admit it. I found her an intriguing character with a lot of depth and emotional richness. Perhaps Tate was a bit more stereotypical than her, but he was still convincing in his role as the hero of the novel. Their slow realization of what they felt for each other was tantalizing and well paced. However, there was a slump in pace in the second half of the novel where there’s a long scene where Tate pampers Noelle. While it showed his feelings for her, I felt it was a bit overdone and went on for too long.

What was really great about Tell Me Something Good was the dialogue – very appropriate for a story with radio talk show hosts as the main characters. The verbal sparring between Noelle and Tate was very passionate and hot and it testified to the tension between them.

If you’re looking for a story with juicy dialogue and a heated conflict between the characters, this one’s for you. You’ll grow to love the emotionally scarred protagonists, laugh at their bickering and melt as they grow to love each other. This novel has something good to tell you.

Dream Huntress is a suspenseful read that you won’t want to put down.  The biggest reason for that are the very convincing main characters and the chemistry between them. Jordan is written as a feisty, ingenious and independent woman whose dangerous job keeps her busy enough to distract her from her demons. I liked how she feared no one and gave back as good as she got.

Similarly, Tyler is a man who is sure of himself and his male charms but in a fun, down-to-earth way that doesn’t make him seem arrogant. The quick-paced romance between Jordan and Ty made for an enticing, fast read. Jordan’s struggling with her emotions and the need to keep Ty at a distance was completely believable, although perhaps mentioned a few times too many. Bahan, Jordan’s boss, was another intriguing character, well-portrayed and interesting.

The romance part of the novel was far more interesting than the plot with the police chasing the drug dealers. That was too simple since practically nothing happened in that regard until the very end. When Jordan had a vision of the final conflict, she was convinced the other cop in the diner was corrupt even though there was no proof – he might have pointed his gun at Ty because he didn’t know Ty was an undercover cop and he was waving his gun around in a diner. Also, Ty and Jordan kissed way too many times at the Buck’s bar parking lot and it seemed highly unlikely that no one noticed them.

Despite the fairly simple undercover investigation plotline, the novel is compelling because of the relationship between Ty and Jordan. Their relationship repeatedly made them deliriously happy on one page and brokenhearted on the next, and it was complex enough to enthrall me.

The undercover stint is a great background to the hot romance between two cops who can’t fight the attraction between them despite the dangers a relationship entails.

Anyone in her position would need some time and space to clear their head. As Arabella’s flight from the house illustrates, she does tend to be a bit impulsive. After Arabella calmed down, I found her to be an intelligent and caring woman. The tender way she cares for her horse speaks volumes about her personality. Arabella does come off as a bit arrogant at times, but I think this is mainly a defense mechanism. Oliver’s behavior confuses her and her arrogance is an effort to put some distance between them as well as a way to dampen the small flames of desire she’s beginning to feel for him.

The first thing I liked about this story was the setting and what the heroine did for a living…ran an all female garage. Alice comes across as a woman who knows what she wants and when she meets Mark (who she thinks in a male car owner in distress) nothing’s quite the same which made me what to read more.

Although this is a novella, I felt Ms. Clements did a great job fleshing out these two characters. While some of their background is told in narration, I didn’t feel like I was shortchanged in any way.

The dialogue is natural sounding and the pacing fast. And one final thing I enjoyed about Under The Hood was the secondary characters. Without them I think the story wouldn’t have been so strong, and like the hero and heroine, I felt they came across as real people.

If you like novellas I think this might be a good one for you.

As she slowly begins to come to life again, we also catch glimpses of how much she needs to love someone and have someone reciprocate. She has been so closed off for so long too that it resembles the awakening of a soul after years in a coma.

Cole’s character is every romance reader’s hero come true. I loved that he is so committed to his daughter. She is the most important person in his life in addition to his mother and his brothers. He is starving to have a family complete with a wife, but after being burned by his ex-wife, he has also closed his emotions off and refuses to let his feelings for Rylan grow.

This is a wonderful story of struggle for courage and understanding. It teaches us patience and compassion while weaving a passionate love story between our characters. Definitely recommended!

She is devastated the moment she realizes that she is to marry Carlyle instead of Will, but she holds herself together, determined to make her father proud. Even though she has an instant and unexplainable dislike for Carlyle, she tries very hard to see the good in him, but as I read, I had to wonder if there was any good to be found in the man. Carlyle desperately wants to marry Elizabeth, but his intentions aren’t exactly honorable. I raced through the pages wondering not only who she would choose, but if Elizabeth’s ending would be a happy one.

Cordelia has never truly been in love. When she discovers Elizabeth’s journal, she finds herself yearning for the kind of connection Elizabeth and Will shared. Like Elizabeth, Cordelia finds herself pursued by two very different men. Innis is a young man she once had tender feelings for. Morgan is a pirate with roguish charm. At first, Cordelia is certain she knows which man is the better of the two, but appearances can be deceiving. It became clear to me pretty quickly which man Cordelia needed to chose, and I grew a little impatient as I waited for Cordelia to figure it out. I confess I became frustrated as Cordelia allowed her judgment to be swayed time after time when the truth was right in front of her. Through the pages of her journal, Elizabeth reaches through time to guide Cordelia, but will it be enough to prevent tragedy?

Written in the Stars is a thoroughly enjoyable book. Elizabeth and Will’s romance is very compelling. Anyone looking for a tale of love, loss, and magic would do well to pick up a copy of Written in the Stars today.

All the while another figure has brought ruin and shame unto his family unjustly. Hadley then spends the rest of his life trying to gain back what he lost.

In comes Mary Elizabeth Edwardes, who is seemingly the answer to all of Hadley’s voiced and unvoiced prayers. She’s an heiress who is required to marry to someone not of her choosing, but to someone her guardian chooses. Innocent Mary can’t help her attraction to the enigmatic Lord Hadley, even if she knows its wrong. Starting off shy and unknowing, Mary quickly transforms into a very bright young lady with excellent instincts.

This is a tale of intrigue, drama, debauchery and love. All the things I love in historical romances. The secondary characters were great, both in good and bad ways. A couple of them you just wanted to smother and others you wanted to hug. I think that says a lot about an author who can evoke such feelings in a novel.

I have to say this book was very different from the authors other works. I adored the Devil DeVere series so this was not what I was expecting. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it but there were a couple little tiny personal preferences that kept from making it a five star book. However, Victoria Vane is an author to watch for any lover of historical romance.

I was very engaged while reading, and wanted to be reading it when I had other things to do. The villain at the end surprised me completely……someone I never once even had on my mental list of suspects. All in all, there’s nothing to complain about around here- this story sizzles with flair.
