When Simon’s friends propose a wager, he gets a chance to introduce himself to Asher at last. But Asher defies all of Simon’s assumptions, and suddenly he finds himself reevaluating everything he thought he knew about Asher, himself, and falling in love at the bottom of the world.

Simon had been working down in Antarctica for quite a while, but never had he experienced a crush as serious as his feelings for Asher. And while the next four months of winter-over extended out before him, Simon knew it could be either the hottest and best time of his life, or awkward and miserable if Asher wasn’t interested. Can the two men find common ground at the bottom of the world?

I have to admit, I love a good Antarctica story. I’m a total sucker for these and I couldn’t help myself – I needed to read this. I’m really glad I gave this a go – funny, light and with a number of interesting characters this was a good short read. I really liked how Simon and Asher didn’t just take one glance at each other and hop into bed. That would have been a simple and easy way to get them together since the icy and isolated setting meant neither man was spoiled for choice of romantic partners. So the fact that both men – in their own ways – had to work to connect and even form a relationship meant both that I was more invested in them as a couple but also I appreciated it a lot more when I could see them get to know each other and find their spark together.

Readers looking for an intense and highly erotic M/M might not find this quite suits what they’re after. While there is certainly hot sex, I personally found most of the focus of the book was on the deep and emotional relationship growing and flourishing between the two men. Readers who like a whole load of intimacy and emotional connections with their romance should find this really satisfies. I loved how while Simon had a load of intensely erotic fantasies about the dead-sexy Asher, the reality was even better – a kind, caring and sweet guy who wanted Simon for many reasons and not just for the chemistry burning between them in the bedroom.

Fun, interesting and sexy I found this to be a great book with loads to recommend it. With interesting main and secondary characters, a great and solid plot and plenty of deliciously ice-melting sex this was a good read and an author I shall enjoy checking out again in the near future.

Jacob and Johnny have been best friends since they were small children. When Johnny breaks up with a powerful and mysterious man, life-threatening “accidents” start to occur around him. Johnny turns to Jacob, feeling him to be the only man he can trust – but can they both survive what comes next?

I found this to be a very different, interesting style of book. The first few chapters were almost a summary of Johnny and Jacob’s lives growing up – with a chapter summarizing their younger years, then the second chapter giving a snapshot of their adolescence and the third chapter talked about their university days. So for a shorter-length story it felt a little different to me to have had Jacob and Johnny’s history delved into with such great detail. As a fresh and different approach to telling a story I found this style intriguing and definitely new-to-me. I do, however, feel it might be polarizing for readers – having most people either love the style or hate it.

The story is told in the first-person perspective from Johnny’s viewpoint, and I did feel it a little difficult to connect with Jacob’s character as I only really got to experience him through Johnny’s perspective. While the story unveiling from only Johnny’s perspective made him come across to me, personally, as a little selfish at times, when I got the hang of the style of the characters’ voice I did enjoy the whirlwind romance between Johnny and Lex – the crazily fast rise then subsequent crash and burn.

In many ways this interesting short story reminded me of a vintage-style of pulp-magazine story, fast paced and slightly over the top, but with enough realism and logic to make you stop and think every now and then. I admit that I did guess the twist that occurs at the end, but this didn’t detract at all from my enjoyment of the story as a whole.

I feel this would be a fun and quick read for those looking for something a little different and fresh – with good characters, some fast-paced action and a short length. Different and interesting, I’d be interested in reading more by this author.
