Neva had to face her insecurities and her new partner at the same time. What chance does her resolve have when Archer’s very presence has her wound up?

Escaping through her workshop tunnel, Neva is less than impressed to find that her proposed partner was the one sent to rescue her and the Citadel staff.

She has managed to dodge her offered position in the Sector Guard for over two years and when Archer comes to save her, she knows that her time to think about it is over.

Archer is bewildered that a woman like Neva keeps turning him down. He’s ridiculously handsome, has an impressive talent and is a charming conversationalist. What more could a woman want?

The Sector Guard continues to grow and prosper as Viola Grace finds more adventures for them to embark upon. There are only a couple more books to this series, and I will be sorry to see the end of this part of the series.

As a Winder, Neva Corren uses her talent to escape with her charges when the Raiders attack the Citadel. She can manipulate string or wire to her needs, and even use it as a weapon if needed. She has declined offers of a Sector Guard position for two years, but now she has no other choice if she wants to get herself and the rest out safely.

As she takes her group of empaths and sensitives out through the tunnels, she warns them they may have to fight. She realizes someone in the village, someone wanting at least one of them captured or dead, betrayed them. She is not looking forward to meeting up with the man she knows will be her partner, either, but turning down the Sector Guard this time could be dangerous for those she is protecting as well as herself. If only Archer wasn’t so insufferably smug, things may have been different. She is attracted to him, but not ready to just jump into his arms, no matter how delicious he looks. To the contrary, it is definitely small acts of cute-n-tiny.com viagra rx random kindness that opens the guts and soothe vessel issues. He is quite the catch, and he is supremely sure of himself.

Can these two very opposite personalities find common ground and work together? When treachery and danger threaten, can they finally become the team Commander foresaw and finish the task at hand? Can they find out who is behind the attacks that are becoming more frequent every day?

As with all of Ms Grace’s books, the world here is unique and full of rare and unusual species, with a multitude of talents. There is a bit more danger and intrigue in this one, as the Raiders have stepped up their attacks in their search for talents to capture and use for their own, less than honorable goals.

Neva Corren is a Winder, able to weave anything needed from simple items usually overlooked by people. She was reluctant to become active with the Guard, in part because of her attraction to Archer, her proposed partner and mate. She is never far from danger, and is usually found running straight into the middle of any fight or disaster. I loved her attitude toward Archer: she knows she wants him, but she isn’t ready to overlook his smug and arrogant temperament just yet. She also hides something about herself that makes her sure he will turn away from her when he knows the truth.

Brav Welkin, or Archer, is strong, brave and absolutely gorgeous. He is self confident, and doesn’t understand Neva’s attitude toward him at all. He has an unusual talent, using bioelectrical energy to form his weapon of choice, a bow and arrow, hence the code name Archer. I like his determination to do what it takes to be the best partner for Neva, and I love him for his ability to see past what she considers her ‘disfigurement’ to the woman inside.

There are several very dangerous missions for these two before they are able to settle into their roles as partners. There is a second rescue of personnel from Yski to accomplish, and a trio of escaped murderers to find. But the best action is the time spent between Neva and Brav as they finally become partners, then friends and, finally lovers while on Station 13.

There is a bit of mental trauma they will need to come to terms with, but this has all the signs of being another happy ever after in the Sector Guard. A great read.

The dead tell no tales.

EVT/IT was something Riley discovered at the local law firm where he works as a paralegal by listening in on one of the customer’s graphic description of how he practiced Electronic Voice Phenomena and Instrumental Trans Communication. The phenomenon of recording messages by placing a digital recorder on the slabs at the cemetery intrigued Riley so he had to try it for himself. Once he begins, the practice takes over his life. Will Riley receive any messages from the other side? If so, how will he deal with his unearthly find?

It starts in a cemetery… so we know something creepy is going to happen. Riley Yates has a normal job and is engaged to a normal woman, Melissa, but he has an interest in the paranormal. With an interest in EVP, he’s at the cemetery hoping to capture the voices of the deceased on tape.

Right from the start, suspense is created. Will he be successful? Will he make contact with those who have passed on? He does. A man who died in the Old West gets Riley started on the path to find a hidden treasure on the other side of the country.

It’s an intriguing plot, but the writing is at times distant and vague. Also, for a short story, it is often wordy. The Dead Speak is not a romance per se but will be of interest to those looking for a short paranormal filled with suspense. Riley is an interesting character and does some good things at the end of the story and he meets someone new. This tale is a good, quick little read.

Ashlin wants to save the beast marked for the hunt, but when intelligence sparks in his eyes, the idea becomes the gateway to a new life.

Ashlin has spent her life trying to move beyond her status as a throwback. Unlike all of the population around her, she has to fight for respect on a daily basis. When being Hunt Master is taken from her once again, she resolves to avoid the hunt, but looking into the eyes of the beast to be hunted, she knows she cannot ignore the intelligence in those silver eyes. Leaving her home before dawn, she waits for the beast to catch up to her and manages to help him transform back into Rumble of the Sector Guard. In that moment her fate is sealed and her life in the stars begins.

Viola Grace has once again created a new and unusual blended species in this, the twenty-second book of the Sector Guard series.

As the best hunter on Endin, Ashlin Offrey should be the one chosen to lead the ritual Harvest Hunt. But Ashlin knows she will never be awarded that honor, because not only is she a female, she is also ‘different’ from the rest of the Endin race. As a mixed race being, she has several hidden talents: hidden by choice from all those who already think of her as a freak.

When she looks into the eyes of the beast chosen for the hunt, she realizes something the others don’t; that there is an intelligent being trapped in the body of the beast, and she is determined that he will not be destroyed. What she doesn’t know is that he is Rumble, a member of the elite Sector Guard, and he allowed his entrapment and capture to recruit Ashlin to the Guard. When Ashlin is injured during their escape attempt, Ecros, or Rumble, does his best to keep her alive until they reach the base.

As Ashlin’s body heals, she also begins to change and develop another form. Can she come to terms with this new body, so different from anything seen before? Can Ashlin accept Ecros as not only her Sector Guard partner, but as her mate as well? What does her new talent mean for her future in the Guard?

Grace provides me with a new and delightful character with whom to become acquainted. I continue to enjoy the new and varied worlds of the Sector Guard and the unique and engaging people that inhabit these worlds.

Ashlin Offrey, or Hunter, is a strong, intelligent and determined young woman. She realizes that her mixed bloodlines make her different from the small, gray skinned Endin people she has lived with her whole life. As an Endin/Wyoran blend, she has the look of her more feline ancestors, and the talents inherent in their species. I enjoyed watching as she outsmarted the Endin hunters to rescue Ecros (Rumble) and free him from his lion form. It was wonderful to see her become more than just another hunter, and I was pleased to she how she delighted in her acceptance and curiosity about her new form.

Ecros, or Rumble, is a strong and attractive Kalordan male, and he is determined to win the affection of Ashlin. I was shocked to realize that he had himself deliberately forced into his lion so that he could observe Ashlin and her talent, even though he was in danger during the whole episode. I loved the interaction between these two, and I was glad that he was willing to wait after stating his intentions, not forcing the issue.

This is filled with humor, and some sarcastic and witty repartee between the two main characters. When Ashlin develops a whole new form, she handles it well. I loved the irony that the first assignment that this team draws is to return to Endin and rescue a lost hunting party, and the secrets and betrayals that are revealed there were very much a surprise I didn’t see coming. There is also a visit with some characters from past stories and I enjoyed catching up. This has a most satisfying happy ever after for these two, but only after a grand adventure through the stars.

Imagine living a life of solitude: alone and afraid to utter a sound for fear of destroying everything and everyone around you. This is the life Cila Wen has become accustomed to living, the only person on a relay station. She has known since she was a child that to speak is to create havoc and harm, so she communicates only by writing.

When the Sector Guard offers a chance at a more normal life, with the chance of a productive and rewarding future among others, she is skeptical but willing to try. Arkhov Ziddler is a Guard member, and Cila’s possible partner, and is the one bringing her replacement to the station, so he can escort her to Morganti base. Can Cila gain control over her unusual talent with Fixer’s help? Can she have a normal life with Arkhov and the Sector Guard?

The mind of Viola Grace is a mysterious place where new species are born every day. I enjoy the worlds she creates, and the beings that inhabit those worlds are as unique as their talents. Ripped and Roar is book twenty-one in the Sector Guard series, and Ms. Grace is still surprising me with her new and unusual characters. I enjoyed this look and a woman who has never heard her own voice, and the creative ways she finds to communicate.

Cila Wen, code name Roar, was born with the ability to destroy with just a whisper, and she learned early that being around others was a danger to them. I liked watching as she began to take control of her talent, and loved each small delight she had with even the smallest of sounds we all take for granted.

Arkhov Ziddler, code name Ripped, is delighted with his new partner. He is a strong and determined male, and has become less of a bully since finding his partner and mate in Cila. I enjoyed watching as he stood by her side, helping her adjust to her new life, without pressuring for more. I loved his supportive nature, and his willingness to let her have space and time to adjust to the new life thrust upon her, more or less.

This is a sweet and gentle romance. Cila has never been in a relationship, never wanting to cause harm to another. And Arkhov has always been the family bully, and he focuses his attention to keeping Cila safe but not smothered. There are a couple of dangers to overcome, like the raiders, and their first, rather sudden, assignment. The secondary characters here are Guardsmen we have already met: Mala (Fixer), Isabi (Shade), Carella (Star Breaker) and many of those from prior books. It is good to visit them again and see how each life intersects with the rest of the Guard.

This story is for those readers who like the challenge of overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds to triumph in the end.

The author could have gone a bit more in depth about why her parents and Gina’s are dead, but it was not essential to the plot. Just got my curiosity up and might have given a bit more substance to the story. It is a very enjoyable story even without that knowledge.

Along with the dragon egg, Nahma brought home a blue seed pod and planted it. When government officials come around to see the dragon and learn from him, Gina helps Nahma hide the seed pod.

The author uses the grandfather’s video skills and comic drawings to introduce the dragon to the world and keep the officials from confiscating the dragon. I thought that was pretty inventive and added to the story.

Gina has fallen in love with the dragon, Turk. But there is no way a blue dragon and a human can mate. Or is there?

Defending herself would be hard enough with one witness on her side, but alone against the humans, what chance does a dragon swan have?

The D.A.R.E. Project series is a delightfully sweet and lightly sensuous series, with magic and dragons, and women working to save the world.

The D.A.R.E. Project was a wonderful idea, but the cost became too much to consider. When the people on Earth captured Eiwyn, a dragon swan pregnant with four daughters, they take the four embryos and split each into five females. Opalite has been doing retrievals for a while now, but on one of her recent missions, she finds a group of humans being held against their will.

He takes her away and tries to convince her to be his mate. He also tells her that her three missing sisters are alive and well.

Will Kros find her and help her reunite with her sisters?

I like this world created in the minds of Tianna Xander and Viola Grace, and the characters are all unique and well crafted. These are all softly romantic and yet there is just enough spice to intrigue the senses.

Opalite is strong and smart, and longs to be free: free to walk in the sun, and be just who she is. She misses her sisters, but doesn’t think they have gone mad, as the scientists claim. She is also a pragmatic woman-when taken before a group of dragons determined to be her mate, she immediately claims to be Kronos’ mate, averting possible fighting and problems. She is determined that she won’t be controlled anymore, and he is the only male so far than she can feel anything for. I liked seeing Opalite grow into the strong and independent dragon swan she was meant to be.

Kronos, or Kros, is strong, handsome and has a few tricks he can use to help in a pinch. He is attracted to Opalite, and works very hard to convince her that he will never hurt her or take away her freedom. I liked that he was willing to be patient and wait for her to choose him, rather than force any issues.

There are a couple of sub plots here, involving the case against Opalite, and the quest to reunite with her sisters. I was delighted that I got to see how the sisters were doing with their mates, and was intrigued to see what they were up to. I was happy to see that the villain in this one was treated to what he deserved, and that Opalite and Kronos were able to get their well deserved happy ever after.

He has waited patiently to find his true mate, and when he was told to get himself captured on Dalpha he did it without question. Seeing Alara for the first time, he knows why.

Echo In Time is the twentieth book in Viola Grace’s Sector Guard series, and this is still a world filled with possibilities.

The talents of Dalpha are persecuted and imprisoned by their government. Those who can be of use are sent into servitude, while others are kept in the labs for research.

When Alara J’Tak realizes that she and her cousin Tosha are in danger of being discovered as talents, she contacts the Alliance with a message for the Sector Guard. She has seen the future for both of them, and she knows Tosha must remain free. Alara knows she will be captured, and sees her future with one very attractive Dhemon in all its possible permutations.

When General Brodin is brought to the common room at the lab complex where she is being held, Alara realizes her freedom and a new life with the Guard is imminent. Alara J’Tak, or Echo In Time, is a strong and sassy woman, determined to protect the only relative she has left. Her talent for seeing all possible futures is, to her, just a tame and unimportant one. She knows she can survive a short stay in the labs, while her cousin Tosha would be far less able to handle it. I liked seeing how she was able to manipulate life around her to her advantage, using her intelligence along with her talent to get where she needs to be.

General Brodin, or Might as he is known in the Sector Guard, is strong and determined to rescue not only Alara, his mate, but also free those talents on Dalpha being restrained. As Commander of Teklan Base, he has waited a long time to find his mate, and is determined not to let anything get in the way of their future together. I enjoyed watching as Alara was able to keep him in suspense at first, and I liked that he didn’t rush her into anything before she was ready.

This is a sweet and gentle love story, but there are dangers to be faced from those in control at the lab before Echo and Might can be together. The supporting characters are, for the most part, Sector Guard members that we have met before, performing their duties in support of their Commander. I found this to be a wonderful addition to the ongoing universe of the Sector Guard, and I look forward to visiting with these characters again soon.

But love may not be enough if it interferes with their dreams of success in the ruthlessly competitive world of opera. D.J. McKay’s dream of singing in European opera houses clashes with his rich daddy’s prejudices against such a “sissy” career; his obsession with beautiful Eva Villalobos doesn’t sit well with his socialite mother, either. Meanwhile, Eva strives to help her poor family financially by achieving success on the stage.

So what happens when their passion for each other thwarts their dreams? How can their relationship survive three-thousand miles of separation? Will their ambition to succeed kill the only true love they have ever known?

This is a well-written, interesting tale that brings the opera world and romance novels together in a pleasurable read. Told as a “memoir” to a reporter, Eva uses her own words as well as the autobiography of her fellow opera singer and love, DJ, to fill the reader in on her past. Interspersed between the reminiscing and autobiography, the reader is treated to Eva’s modern day and glimpses of how the past affected the future. This treatment could be confusing, but actually is a unique and fun way to get a backstory.

The pull between upbringing and the opera world affects the choices made by both DJ and Eva. Their upbringing and family as well as their individual choices both affect the road to their relationship. It is a meaty read, and I needed several days to get through the story. However, the plot and storyline were interesting and able to keep me involved, even when I had to put the book down.

I was worried that having a music background would leave me disappointed, either wanting more detail, or agonizing over clear inaccuracies. Fortunately, that couldn’t be further from the truth! The other problem I was worried about was that it would be too detailed, and cater to the opera/music crowd and leave the other readers confused and unwilling to finish the book. I am happy to report, all of my fears were unfounded!

Storylines for the operas in which the characters performed were detailed. What could be a confusing aspect for readers, was actually an addition to the story. The opera plotlines were given a light treatment and didn’t overwhelm me with too much information.

Clean, meaty, and interesting. If you are interested in music or opera, give this a try. If you aren’t interested in this performing art, give it a read anyway; you’ll enjoy the story, too!
