As a witch, Luvenia Spells has the worst luck in the world. With a snap of her fingers, she can grant anyone their deepest desires, except herself.

Marcus Rush is searching for a woman who wants him as a man, and not for what he can give her.

Can Marcus fulfill Luvenia’s wish for love?

Luvenia Spells has the worst luck when it comes to her love life. Her last date took her to Paris then wanted to make love to her in a coffin. It also doesn’t help when her dates find out that she’s a witch, that little piece of information sends them running in the other direction. So Luvenia decided to sign up for a one night stand at the Castillo Resort in Las Vegas. All she wanted was one night of mindless sex with the man they setup for her. Luvenia hoped that the man was as attractive as the man she saw on the plane, tall and lean.

Marcus Rush was at Castillo Resort for one night, one night of sex with a stranger that he would not have to see again. While checking in he turned and saw a beautiful woman that made his heart beat fast and had warm feelings to radiating throughout his body. Knowing that his time at the resort was limited to one night, he decided to focus on his impending date for the night and not the elusive woman.

Wishing for Love is a tale of two people who thought that one night of mindless sex with a stranger would not amount to anything more. The characters were enjoyable especially Luvenia who had a quirky sense of humor. The story was short but the author gave you enough information about the characters that you could invest in them. All in all Wishing for Love is a good story one that this reader thinks would appeal to others.

Rhykar Evierse has been on the Most Wanted list for years. His attempts to expose the evil deeds of Vast Innovations’ founder, Mertan Graiton, has landed him on the wrong end of the law—and on the wrong end of a sexy bounty hunter’s pistol. Now, Rhykar’s wanted for a murder he didn’t commit. Desperate to clear his name, he contacts the one woman who can save him. He hopes she’ll give him one night to prove himself.

When Selea Val’keer receives Rhykar’s call for help, anger and lust rip through her. How can she be attracted to a criminal? Unable to resist, she accepts his invitation to meet through Madame Evangeline’s 1Night Stand service. But what will she do when she sees him again—kiss him or shoot him?

How much can be packed into 47 pages? Read Dead or Alive, and you may just find out!

Rhykar Evierse is a wanted man. With multiple entities hunting him, he struggles to escape and eventually contact the only person he feels can help him, a bounty hunter by the name of Selea Val’Keer. But, with a bounty on his head – dead or alive – he needed her to listen, not shoot him on sight.

Selea is good at her job, but still struggles to pay her rent. When she sees the bounty offered for Rhykar, a criminal she’s hunted many times, she’s tempted, but cannot get past the memory of their last encounter. He’d kissed her, a kiss that she felt with every fiber of her being, but which turned out to be nothing more than a way to distract her long enough to drug her so he could escape. A cryptic message she receives from Madame Eve proves to be from Rhykar, and with little further thought, she’s off to meet with him.

This story is packed with a little bit of everything: action, suspense, intrigue, romance, fantasy and sex. Initially I thought it was set in the future, but it could be considered present day when you find out there are multiple planets involved. I’d never read a science fiction romance such as this, so it wasn’t an easy read, yet it was laid out well enough that I wasn’t confused. The language was consistent with the topic and the characters were well developed, considering the brief nature. Madame Eve played an incidental part in Rhykar and Selea’s meeting, being not much more than an intermediary in communication, but this book stays true and fits well with the 1Night Stand series.

The one negative I’d give this one is it was difficult to picture the environment at times. This could have been because I am not as familiar with science fiction, or because of the brevity of the story, but if more time had been spent describing the surroundings, maybe it would have been easier to make a mental image. That being said, it in no way took away from the other aspects of the tale, and I was intrigued from start to finish.

If you like fantasy, and love to get lost in a world unlike your own, this is a romance to pick up!

Tallulah Murphy is a busy woman. As the newly appointed Director of Education for the Atlanta Art Museum, she has a thousand and one things to do on any given day. Dating is not high on that list; in fact, it’s not even on the radar.

Three hundred miles away in Charleston, South Carolina, Lieutenant Mitchell Weaver is gearing up for his promotion to be the youngest police chief in the city’s history. And unfortunately, as a prominent city official with all eyes watching his every move, a quality date seems untenable. But when good friends and good fortune set Tallulah and Mitch on a fateful adventure with Madame Evangeline’s high-end dating service, 1Night Stand, they may find a little matchmaking magic can reset their spirits of adventure and open their hearts and minds to the possibility of love.

Finding that right person to spend your life with sounds like an insurmountable task, but sign up with Madame Eve’s 1Night Stand service, and that task can become effortless!

In this tale, we meet Tallulah (Lou) Murphy, a beautiful young woman from Atlanta who has spent the better part of a year piecing her life back together after her ex broke off their relationship and did his best to ruin her career. A good friend signs her up for Madame Eve’s service, and Lou, who’s ready to find someone who makes her smile again, anxiously answers the multitude of questions and then waits to find her ideal match.

Mitch Weaver has just received a promotion to the Chief of the Charleston, South Carolina Police Department, making him the youngest chief in history. Just when his professional life was seemingly in place, however, his personal life has stagnated. Divorced for three years after finding out his wife had slept her way around the department, he’s mailed his last alimony check and is ready to move on. Thankfully, his good friend has signed him up for the 1NS service in hopes that his life can change.

As always, Madame Eve made a great match in Lou and Mitch. They both love the outdoors, have been burned by past relationships, and each want a family. A long term relationship is a definite for these two, and there is little doubt it would work.

The sex is hot, and definitely helps to strengthen the connection between Mitch and Lou. Their immediate physical attraction is enhanced when they realize they share similar interests and each is so different from the people that have hurt them in the past. Their only stumbling block? They live in different cities and different states. They quickly realize the obstacle they need to overcome, but refuse to allow it to overshadow their short time together.

I loved both characters and in a short few pages, the author conveys their past hurts, the way they overcame them, and their desire for new partners. In such a situation, a rebound is a natural assumption, but not for these two, and I credit that to the talent of the author.

As always, I’m left wanting more, but that’s because these characters are so likable. It’s hard not to root for them! If you want a quick, hot, and enjoyable read, definitely check this one out!

Carly Penn is thrilled when her older brother, Joe, marries her dear friend, Kaylee, with the help of the 1Night Stand service. Now, looking for a final bout of passion to carry her through as terminal cancer steals her life, she’s turned to Madame Eve for herself. She doesn’t expect a happy ending, just a single night to remember as she faces the end of her days.

Vampire Agoston Barabás was forced to watch his true love, Dorika, murdered two hundred earlier, and clings to her dying promise to return to him. He takes one night at a time, never loving or becoming involved with another as he waits for his lover to find him. When he meets his date from 1Night Stand, he’s shocked to discover she carries the soul of his Dorika and the heart of a woman he could love.

As their fates collide in passionate lovemaking, Agoston offers Carly an unexpected option—live or die together. Dare she risk eternity with a vampire, even if his tender touch brings her a greater joy than she has ever known?

Madame Eve strikes again. This time she fixes up a mourning vampire with a terminally ill woman looking for one last fling. What neither could possibly know, however, was that this woman is the reincarnation of his long lost love. Did Madame Eve know? I guess only she can answer that.

Carly Penn has just happily witnessed the marriage between her best friend and her brother, the two of whom were set up by the 1Night Stand service. Carly is very close to her brother Joe, a werewolf, and is happy now that he has someone to care for him once she succumbs to the untreatable cancer she knows will soon take her life. Her final wish? To spend one night of passion with a sexy stranger before the pain of her illness takes over.

Agoston “Gus” Barabas is a 200 year old vampire who has spent the majority of his time searching for the soul of his deceased love, Dorika. His special skill as a vampire is the ability to see the essence, the aura, of each human being, and with every person he meets, he desperately hopes to find a match to the woman he lost so many years ago, but who promised to return to him one day. Urges and needs being what they are, he occasionally allows himself a fling, and thus as agreed to a 1NS hookup arranged by Madame Eve.

When the two meet, Gus knows she’s the one he’s been searching for, but Carly needs time to adjust, although she does know there’s something incredibly familiar about this man…

I don’t read a lot of paranormal stories, but I’m a fan of the 1Night Stand series, so I gave this a try. The premise of this story was quite good, and I was able to follow the paranormal aspects, given that I have little previous knowledge of werewolves or vampires. What seemed lacking, however was the emotional connection. Ms. Royce is very good at telling a story, but there wasn’t much feeling there. I didn’t sense the emotions of the characters, and although I knew why they belonged together, and was glad to see the happily ever after, I didn’t have much of an emotional investment.

That said, it’s not badly written. It’s a quick, entertaining read, as are many of the 1Night Stand series. If you like to dabble in the paranormal and believe in true and everlasting love, you may enjoy this one!

Good and laid.

At his suggestion, she signs up with the 1Night Stand service, listing her deepest sexual desires on the application. A speedy response from Madame Eve has Melody on her way to Sonoma Valley wine country and a one-night stand with a mysterious Dom.

The sexy, masked Master promises to get to the bottom of her guilt and provide ultimate satisfaction under the safety of his stern hand. After an emotional night of submission and uninhibited passion, will her lover’s unmasking lead to the end of their encounter or give Mel another chance at love?

It’s New Year’s Eve, you’re heartbroken and alone, there’s only one thing for it—call 1Night Stand!

This is exactly what happened to Melody Manning. She found herself at work on New Year’s Eve, with nothing more exciting than an empty flat to look forward to and the memories of her ex-boyfriend – ex because her previous boss kept her nose to the grindstone working all the hours under the sun. So when her new boss suggest she ‘get laid’ Melody makes the rather rash decision to get set up with a Dominant for the night in a plush hotel.

I enjoyed Night with a Dom for several reasons. The characters were likeable, the sex scenes hotter than hot and it had several nice little twists, a few of which I pre-empted, others I did not. I did find Melody a bit of a whiner in the first chapter, some of the introspection a little too self-pitying, but I guess that needed to be the case for her to take the drastic step of paying to get laid. But by the end of the story I was rooting for her with a ‘you go girl’ flag waving in my hand. She proved herself stronger than I thought she was going to be, both emotionally and sexually and that gathered the story up for me again and left me with a ‘ah, that was good’ feeling.

If you enjoy a seriously sexy read with a bit of light BDSM Night with a Dom is a good short story that is nicely written and could give inspiration to anyone who’s had a New Year’s Eve alone.

Hockey goalie Tarah ‘TJ’ Elliot is too busy stopping pucks to go looking for love. When her friend Natalie sets her up through Madame Eve’s 1 Night Stand service, she grudgingly agrees to go. Her ultimate fantasy comes true when Scott Alarid, one of the top scorers in the league, shows up at her hotel room. Hockey player TJ can’t possibly spend a night with him, but Tarah certainly can.

Scott’s tired of dealing with women who only like him for his all-star status. After his teammates arrange a date for him using the 1NS website, he’s delighted to find a woman who doesn’t know a thing about the sport. But, will the truth force them to put their relationship on ice?

Who knew hockey could be so sensual?

Tarah “TJ” Elliot lives her life surrounded by men, yet can’t seem to meet one. As a professional hockey player, she is unfortunately seen as one of the guys, so finding a romantic connection is difficult. That’s when TJ’s good friend sets her up with Madame Eve’s 1Night Stand service.

Scott Alarid is a big named hockey star and captain of his team. Despite professional success, what he’s really looking for is a woman who wants him for him, and not because he’s a sports figure. His last relationship ended badly, so he’s not actively looking to get into another. When his buddies set him up with a date, however, he reluctantly agrees to go, if for no other reason than to avoid hurting an innocent woman who’d otherwise be stood up.

There were many things I liked about this short tale, not the least of which was the sexual connection the two shared. They were instantly compatible and each had a mutual attraction and enjoyment of the other.

The writing was clear and easy to read, both points of view represented and the dialogue was well attributed.

The one main negative I’d have is perhaps the order of things. The couple was together for only a few minutes before their physical relationship began, but there wasn’t much of a reason for that in Scott’s eyes. Tarah admired Scott, having followed him closely as an athlete, and was obviously physically attracted to him, but Scott knew nothing of Tarah. Before dinner had even arrived (less than 40 minutes according to the story) the two had sex and he was convinced Tarah was the woman for him. It seemed the only criteria for his feeling was her sexual ability and the fact that she didn’t know he was a hockey player. Later on, the two were able to talk and get to know each other better, and at that point the hope for a future made more sense, but the speed at which Scott determined Tarah was an ideal mate seemed a little quick.

That negative aside, the rest of the story was very enjoyable. Not knowing anything about hockey myself, I was able to follow the necessary details about the game that contributed to the book and could appreciate the relationship the two shared in the sport on top of their personal relationship. If you’re looking for a tale about finding that right person at the right time, Goalie Interference, and the 1Night Stand Series are great options!

Julie Saunders and Gunnery Sergeant, Ryan Hawke have both hit a rough patch in life. Demanding jobs ensure there aren’t enough hours in the day to get out there and meet people. Tired of feeling lonely and in need of attention, they turn to the personals for a no-strings-attached encounter.

When Ryan sees Julie’s response to his ad for a hook up, he’s relieved he’s found a sane one in the bunch. She’s beautiful, they share the same goals, and she’s got a hell of an adventurous side–just what he needs.

Can reality live up to expectations or will a no-strings hook-up leave them craving more?

Want Ads have never been this hot!

Ryan Hawke is a Marine just returned home from duty, but due to demands of his job and life, he doesn’t have time to find a woman to spend the night with, much less have a relationship. He posts a personal ad to find a woman who’s looking for the same thing he is – no strings attached.

Julie Saunders is a young nurse who’s gone almost a year without a relationship. She’s craving the physical intimacy only a man can provide. Uninterested in strings herself, she responds to Ryan’s ad and they eventually agree to meet.

The connection between these two was instant and incredibly hot! There’s no pretense of much else in this story; the two people are together to hook up, no questions asked. They meet each other’s needs and thoroughly enjoy each other. There’s even the potential of more once the end comes – unfortunately far too soon!

The way the Ms. Labelle manages to craft her characters in such a short amount of time was fun to read, and she missed few details. I particularly liked when Ryan corrected Julie after Julie referred to him as a “soldier.” It was small lines such as those that made me relate to the characters in the midst of their erotic romp. She also was smart about her story, including realistic elements like Julie bringing a friend with her as protection during the first public meeting with Ryan, something that shows Julie is not reckless or stupid.

This is an easy one to recommend. Strong, handsome Marine, beautiful young nurse, and incredibly hot sex. No Strings Attached is a title one has to pick up.

The morning of her sixteenth birthday, Billie feels blessed despite the reoccurring nightmare that wakes her. Loving parents, a caring boyfriend, and great friends surround her until an heirloom necklace throws her into a world she never imagined.

“Gifted” with supernatural powers and an unexpected destiny as the Keeper, Billie and a mysterious boy from her past must work together to find answers. But, as they begin to discover feelings for one another, he disappears leaving her to fight evil alone. Her life spirals out of control. She breaks up with her boyfriend, Tony, and alienates her best friends Arianna and Jocelyn to protect them from the truth.

As dark forces pursue her, Billie longs to run away from it all, yet a need to do what’s right compels her to face the future as the keeper of more than her own fortune.

Sometimes an ordinary life just isn’t possible.

Billie is a typical, if a bit snobbish, teenage girl. She’s pretty, smart, and relatively popular. At first, her attitude put me off. She’s overly critical of those around her and the words that come out of her mouth are often harsh. However, Billie changes quite a bit over the course of the years contained in this story. I truly enjoyed watching her develop into a young woman who learns to genuinely love and appreciate those around her.

When Billie becomes the Keeper and starts receiving her supernatural “gifts,” her world is thrown into chaos. On top of surviving high school, Billie now finds herself fighting nightmarish creatures sent by an unknown dark force. Fortunately, Tyler, her Watcher, is there to guide her. I thought Billie handled her new powers and the revelations concerning her destiny surprisingly well. She still has moments where she breaks down and wishes for a simpler life, but I think that’s a completely normal reaction for a young woman. While Billie sometimes just wants to be a teenager, she also knows that her position is much too important for her to simply walk away. Her strength is very admirable.

Billie’s relationship with Tyler is complicated to say the least. Both Billie and Tyler know that a romantic relationship between the two of them is not smart, but they literally can’t help themselves. They are powerfully drawn to each other. However, the path to their happy ending is definitely a rough one and the situation they find themselves in is not one I remember coming across in other books I’ve read. I thought Ms. Star’s solution to their problem was interesting. While I didn’t completely understand the reasoning behind the process that Billie and Tyler had to go through to be together, I did find the resolution to be satisfying.

I do wish the supernatural aspect of Billie’s world had been explained a bit more. Ms. Star made the concepts of Billie’s gifts, the creatures, and the forces of good and evil clear enough that I could follow the plot without any problems. However, I still wanted more detail. What exactly are the creatures that Billie fights? What started the battle between the opposing sides? How are people chosen for their specific roles? Who makes the rules concerning what is and isn’t allowed in the supernatural world? How has the supernatural aspect of Billie’s world remained hidden for so long? All these questions were rolling around in my mind when I finished reading The Keeper. Perhaps Ms. Star could delve into them in another book?

I also think that Billie’s confrontation with the dark force that had been plaguing her was over a bit too quickly. Most of the story seemed to be building up to an epic battle and while it was intense, somehow it wasn’t quite as big as I anticipated. I also thought the dark force would have had a larger role in the story. Instead, he showed his face briefly and soon the big showdown happened. After the fight, Billie’s role as the Keeper is clearly not over, so I was left wondering who she would be facing in the future.

I found The Keeper to be a truly enjoyable story. I thought the world Ms. Star created was intriguing and Billie had certainly won me over by the end of the story. I was moved to tears near the end of the book when Billie had to make some hard choices in order to protect her family and friends. I recommend The Keeper to anyone looking for a compelling and emotional tale of friendship, love and loss.

Jazz has been one of the guys for over a decade, serving her country with distinction, but she longs to explore her femininity, to be desired as a woman, to flirt, cavort and fulfill every sexual desire. When her mother of all people, signs her up for a 1Night Stand, she’s not sure whether to be exhilarated or pissed. Flying to Las Vegas on the promise of a total escape, Jazz plans to be Jasmine for just one night, because tomorrow, she plans to re-up for another five years.

They’re two of the proud…

Logan Cavanaugh grew up across the street from his best friend and brother-in-arms, Zach Evans. Inseparable, the two have shared everything, including women, until the year before when an IED attack during combat injured both of them. Zach suffered a concussion, but Logan’s injuries were far more extensive. After a year of physical therapy, he can walk, but he’ll never run or love a woman again, or so he fears. He’s ready to accept his impotence, but Zach has other ideas. He hopes a 1Night Stand date with the perfect woman will heal Logan’s confidence and masculinity.

They’re all Marines…

They’ll share each other, but will one night be enough?

Heather Long has done the near-impossible. She’s enticed me not only to read a menage story, but fall in love with it as well!

Gunnery Sergeant Jasmine Winters is a rough and tumble Marine who has seen her share of combat. Always ready for a fight, she’s proven herself on the battlefield, but what she really wants, even if only for a brief time, is to feel like a woman. With this goal in mind, she signs up for Madame Eve’s 1Night Stand service, hoping to find not one, but two men to share a hot passionate night and helping find the woman she knows is buried deep inside.

Zach Evans is a combat veteran who has devoted a good deal of the last few months to his best friend, Logan Cavanaugh, who was badly injured by a roadside bomb. Unwilling to allow Logan to wither away in self-pity, Zach signed them up, along with the rest of their unit, to the 1Night Stand service. There was a difference with this request, however. Because Logan was resistant, Zach signed up for a menage, a practice the two men had engaged in prior to their combat days.

Logan, who has battled back from injury, even having to learn to walk again, is nervous about their pending date, not only because of the various scars he now has up and down his body, but because he’s been sadly impotent since that fateful day. With Zach’s encouragement, he’s agreed, but still isn’t confident things will go well once their date arrives. I will say Logan was definitely my favorite of the three; my heart went out to an American hero, trying to find what his life is supposed to be after devastation.

I am a huge lover of romance, but my preference is usually one man – one woman. This story is number two in a series, and since I read them out of order, this one came up last. I’m happy about that because by the time this book came across my desk I had more faith in Ms. Long than I have in most any other author. I knew the power of her writing and gave the story of a three-way a chance. I was NOT disappointed.

I felt a strong connection to all three of these individuals. Their motivations and needs were clearly laid out and I was rooting for all three of them to get what they needed out of their night of passion. Their sex was certainly hot, but they were also very respectful and had a genuine like of the others. Just like the other titles in the Always a Marine stories, it’s so easy to get lost in the words on the page. Heather Long is an amazing talent. I’d love for her to connect the stories of all these individuals into a longer novel so I can spend more time with them!

I can’t recommend all of her series highly enough, but if you like the idea of a menage, this story will definitely NOT disappoint!

Fulfilling a favor and executing a business plan, Luke Dexter arrives at Dallas’ Sybarite Club for a one-night stand. He never imagined he’d come face to face with the woman he left behind a decade earlier.

Rebecca Rainier fell in love with Luke Dexter in high school and was crushed when he dumped her to join the Marines after 9/11. Set up on a 1Night Stand by her business partner, nothing could prepare Rebecca for who her date is.

Can Luke and Rebecca bridge the pain of a decade-long abandonment, in one cold Texas night?

September 11, 2001 changed many people’s lives. Not only were thousands killed, but the effects of their loss reached countless family and friends. Two such people were Luke Dexter and Rebecca Rainier.

Luke lost his mother and sister on a plane that fateful day, but the ripple effect caused much more loss. His father reenlisted in the military, and after earning his GED, Luke signed up for the Marines, determined to avenge the loss of his family. The only challenge to his sudden change in life plans? His high school sweetheart. Leaving her behind was one of the hardest things he ever had to do, but it was for the best – a cold break was the best way to help her move on.

Rebecca was the all-American girl; beautiful cheerleader, hardworking student, and determined to make her dreams come true. She and Luke were deeply in love, but after his life was shattered by an evil act of terrorism, she didn’t imagine her dreams would be crushed as well. She initially tries to take care of Luke and his father, but her once loving boyfriend quickly turns cold. When she finally confronts him, he admits he’s enlisted and is leaving her behind to fight on the front lines of Afghanistan. Devastated when Luke does not answer her multiple letters, nor comes to see her when she assumed he had come home, she struggles to move on with her life.

Luke, along with the rest of his Marine buddies, signed up with Madame Eve’s 1Night Stand service, and although hesitant, is looking forward to meeting his date. He’s reminded that life doesn’t always offer a second chance just as he sees the beautiful Rebecca sitting at the bar…

Ms. Long is a master of emotions. Her characters are so well developed despite the brevity of the story, I found myself relating to each and every one of them. I understood Luke’s reasons for fighting, and for leaving Becca, yet my heart broke for the poor girl left behind. I was cheering for Luke to win her back, but ironically enough, that would be my one negative to this book – I think she gave in just a little too easily (but I’m still thrilled she did).

The writing is fabulous, dialogue is spot on, and the author’s use of metaphors and illustrative wording is outstanding. Few can turn a phrase as well as Heather long. This book is the first of the series, but I have read them out of order and nothing is missed by doing that. If you’re looking for a quick hot read that still manages to tug on your heartstrings, you cannot go wrong with the Always A Marine series!
