This fun short story is full of holiday cheer and a cringe-worthy Christmas party that turns unexpectedly good. I was a little surprised at how quickly things moved between Caden and Paige. There was no middle step or breathing room between Paige fighting off Caden’s brother’s unwanted advances and then Paige and Caden sexy dancing together and getting in the mood. As a reader I felt I needed a bit more time between those two events to get my head around the scenes, especially as they were both emotional scenes but in totally different ways. Having said that, I thought the rest of the story was really well paced. Caden and Paige don’t just jump right into bed, there is some seriously sexy dancing and what I felt was a decent exchange of conversation for two people who already knew each other superficially.

For a very short story I thought this ticked many boxes. Caden and Paige are interesting characters that are well drawn for the small word count. I found the sex scene to be hot and descriptive and although the plot is thin, for such a quickie I can understand how difficult anything more complex would have been. A delicious little bite of a story for when you only have an hour or so to enjoy a quick read.

Both are clearly meant to be and love each other almost from their first meeting, but there are a number of obstacles they both need to conquer before they can get their happy ending.

This is a fun, quick read with a fair bit of spice and magic, excellent for one of those times when you don’t have long to indulge in a bigger story.

I nabbed this story because it looked like a fun read. It turned out I was right. Ms. Monroe’s writing is quick paced and kept me right in my seat. The plot worked because it had plenty of twists I didn’t see coming and yes, I wanted to know how the book ended. The ending was the best part.

Keep in mind, this is a short story. There are parts where it’s a little thin on detail. For the most part, it works. Leah, the heroine, was a perfect addition to the story. I knew precisely what she thought throughout the book and loved her tentative attitude with Jericho—she didn’t want to ruin a good, solid working relationship (even if it was more or less in silence). The interplay between them made me smile.

If you want a book that’s got a balance of heart and heat, then you need to read Chemical Love. I give this book 3 cherries.

The only problem I saw was — this story was simply not long enough. The portions that focused on witches and their craft were beautifully written and well researched.

Shep’s back-story and his seemingly constant denial of his true nature seemed a bit out of nowhere, but it did not detract from the overall flow of the plot.

Blood of the Moon is a short story, but packs a lot of larger than life characters into its plot and subplots. I think Ms. O’Donnell had an interesting premise and storyline, but I really would’ve liked to see the story be longer considering the gravity of the characters. Otherwise, the story is well written, the dialog is well thought out and the tension between Shep and Gabe makes you want to read the next page to see if either of them will give in and stop being so stubborn.

Although this is a short story, I wanted more. I want to know what happens next. Still, the ending left me happy and satisfied. If you want a fun, short read, then you need to grab a copy of Virtually By Chance. I give it 4.5 cherries.
