Ian has wondered about Gomorrah, the seedy bar/sex club downtown, for years. Now that he’s single again, he decides to check it out. It can’t be that bad, can it? And surely all those rumors about vampires are bunk.

Nick’s a bouncer at Gomorrah, and when he sees Ian, he sees fresh meat. Or fresh blood, as the vampire patrons of the club will think. Trying to protect the younger man, Nick instead finds himself in a bit of a pickle involving the head of the local cadre, and the only way out is to get a lot closer to Ian than he ever intended.

Sometimes trying to find the thing you want can be the worst possible decision — when vampires are involved. But that doesn’t mean it’s all bad — in the case of Ian and Nick, it’s really good.

I like stories that take plot twists I didn’t expect. This is one of those tales. Elizabeth Jewell creates a situation where an emotionally wounded man finds not only a second chance, but the love of more than a lifetime. I felt like I was really there in the club with Ian and Nick. I only wish there’d been a bit more description. But I realize that this is a short story and there is only so much room for scene and world building. I liked Ian. He had emotional baggage and wasn’t sure if he was ready to love or be loved again. The reasons were valid and realistic which added to the story. I wanted to see him get what he deserved — someone to care about him. I could also appreciate his trepidation. He’d gotten in over his head and the reader can identify with him because who hasn’t made a decision and then realized maybe it wasn’t the right one?

Nick is a bit of an enigma. I wanted to get into his head more and find out what made him tick. Being that this story is told from Ian’s point of view, I wasn’t totally sure how attracted Nick even was to him or if it was a sense of taking care of him. But I loved how things came together at the end and I appreciated the decisions made. The story became more forceful and enjoyable.

If you want a story with a twist of kink and a whole lot of soul, then you need to read Gomorrah: Bonded. I give this story 4 cherries.

Dee has decided to go for what she wants as well, and what she wants is Iron. These two have so much in common; both are fighters and athletes, and Dee is one of very few to get past Iron’s façade of strong and silent strongman.

The devotion between the two brothers is amazing to see: as twins, there is a special connection and we see how much Rock means to his brother when Rock is poisoned in a fight. The things Iron does to secure the antidote for Rock are above and beyond brotherly love.

Do these two couples find a way to get off of Amazurn? Do they get their happy ever afters? I recommend that you read both Double Time books to get the whole story. Beware, this one is a darker read, but well worth it in the end.

This was an interesting story. I loved the role reversal Kate Hill gives in this story. The men do the housework, tend the homes and take many roles usually occupied by women in society. It was fun to watch Geri and Dee try to fit in, but still follow earth traditions.

Geri has some baggage, and I loved watching her battle to overcome her fears and let Rock into her life, and her heart. I love how she grew as a person, and finally was able to accept what Rock offered her.

Jeff was Katie’s rock in a time of turmoil. It really showed me how great of a couple these two could eventually be. It was clear from the beginning that Jeff wanted to protect Katie even if it was from her family. And when he wasn’t being her protector he was more than willing to jump into the lover role – appreciating a woman the way all men should treat their mates.

With Jeff raining dark kisses all over Katie, I cannot help but give this story 4 cherries, and if Jack is still available he can feel free and rain a few on me.

This anthology is jam packed with paranormal activity. From ghosts to vampires and shifters, to other things I can’t really explain, this story has something for any paranormal lover.

All of these stories had a nice plot and explosive sexual encounters. I was actually impressed on how much of a plot the authors were able to incorporate into the short stories. Whether it just be a strong romantic plot or a plot with an equally strong subplot these authors really did a great job making these erotic stories and not just sex scenes. With five different stories in this story anthology that is not a small feat.

Enter the Layer by Carlanime Bligh

Nisha had no idea of the power she wielded, but when she found out about them she was more than eager to test the theory on Slade and Bennet. The one thing that I did find uncomfortable was the fact that Slade and Bennet were brothers. I am usually all for a threesome, but this was the first I’ve read with siblings being the partners. This story was a nice quick read. Rayna was deeply in love with her best friend Adan and did not know how to tell him, but could not hold back her feelings any longer. What she didn’t know was that Adan harbored a deep secret that would change her mind and her heart. I have always believed that friends sometimes make the best lovers so this story hit home for me.

He was taken from her so quickly and so young her heart would not allow her to let him go. When she gets trapped at work after an earthquake the only thing she can do is think about how she would not be in that predicament had it not been for him leaving her. Except he has not completely left, because her heart cries out for him so loudly he is unable to move on. I would recommend you have a tissue with you when reading this story because you will be brought to tears.

Deep Feeling by Kira Stone

Since all of the other stories were M/F this M/M story was a nice surprising end to this anthology. Since the story is about a god and a vampire you knew it was going to be fun. Shane accidently found himself at the bottom of the ocean only to be rescued by Agoue. Agoue assumed Shane was a sacrifice sent to him and once he saw Shane, he had every intention of not only accepting his sacrifice but keeping him around for a long time. Since they both had a higher tolerance for pain than humans the sex got wild, crazy and oh so spicy. What a great ending.

Because of the various author’s abilities to incorporate good plots with some interesting characters in such short stories I rate this anthology a 3.5.

I could also see how that would finally make her snap and grab what pleasure she could with both hands before she had to go back to those expectations. I really enjoyed seeing her come out of her shell and let her inner goddess out. She thoroughly enjoyed every single thing Vito did to her. Lucky girl!

Vito Moretti is not a soft easy man. He’s a warrior to the bone and as such he has… harder… darker desires and needs. He’s perfectly content with the status quo: he travels around saving others from bad things, and on those travels he never has to worry about settling down or offending some female with his darker lusts. If she doesn’t like his… darker side, no worries, he’ll be gone in the morning. It actually bugged me enough that even though I finished the book and smiled, I had to backtrack and figure out if I’d missed something. Call me picky, but I love those details of how these things happen. Beyond that, the writing was beautiful, and flowed extremely well from one moment to the next.

Last Call: Classy Bitch was another fun foray into the world of the Last Call bar. The fairy godmothers were an interesting group of characters and I’d love to see more of them… judging by the way things were left, I might get my wish! While I was never sure who exactly set the godmothers on Vito and Margot, it didn’t really matter as the results were the same regardless. Hot sex, a beautiful beginning and a story that left me with a smile on my face. If you’ve never been introduced to Last Call, this story would be a good place to start… and even if you have, you know you want to visit again. Vito and Margot will make it worth your while… just leave your inhibitions at the door.

It left me feeling wonderful because Charlene was cherished and appreciated.

This story also had a nice plot. Linc was putting everything in jeopardy when he went with his gut and indulged in Charlene’s sweets. The last thing he wanted to do was to destroy their newly budding relationship. But how does a man keep the woman he wants happy and not upset the boss who is determined to evict her? I felt it was all handled admirably and I really enjoyed how it all worked out.

While this is a quickie, I will be reading Charly’s Chocolate Factory again when I need a pick me up.
