Kissa Troy mistakenly believes she’s safe in her identity as Beth Smith. No one knows she’s a mountain cat shifter and hiding from the Catamounts, a dangerous shifter cult. One day, a sexy alpha wolf walks into her life. Shaking off a determined wolf isn’t easy. When she’s tracked down by the Catamounts, Kissa turns to the wolf for protection.
Wolves and mountain cats are natural enemies, but all it takes is one breath and Clay Thunder is hooked. The sex is hot. The attraction is undeniable. She may be a cat with trouble on her tail, but she’s the one.

Still. A wolf — and a mountain cat?

This short story is a real winner. It has action, suspense, a riveting plot and a hero and heroine that are awesome together.

Ms. McCall impressed me with this novelette. Each chapter is packed with a lot of information. The author used the minimum amount of words yet she still provided the emotional connection between a reader and her characters and I really got into the story. I didn’t feel cheated or shortchanged in any aspect of this tale. Ms. McCall truly knows her craft.

The one aspect that stood out for me was the suspense. I bet that if I could see myself in a mirror, I wouldn’t be surprised to see my eyes wide and my mouth hanging open. It really got intense a few times making this one of the fastest read stories in months. I enjoyed every second of it and couldn’t stop reading until I finished it, in one sitting. Amazing!

I liked how the author presented Kissa to a reader in the beginning. It successfully garnered my sympathy and interest. And yes, even though the mating scent ploy is used, I liked how Clay and Kissa interacted. It didn’t come across as trite, fast, gratuitous or pat. It was natural, believable and thoroughly entertaining and satisfying. I kept waiting for the characters to say or do the one thing that would trip up the whole story and it never happened. This was a complete joy to read.

I will point out my niggle about Dan. Considering who he was and what has happening to the people in the bar, I have no clue as to why he was not targeted by the bad guys, because he should have been. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad he wasn’t because he was a nice guy. He still was a perfectly good target and it never materialized. Considering how bloody efficient the bad guys turned out to be, that was a glaring oversight.

Since this is an erotic romance, it’d be remiss of me not to mention how delicious their sex scenes were. They were well done, well placed and were definitely a lot of fun to read. Clay and Kissa are wonderful together.

This review is a joy to write because I still have a happy buzz going on from reading Clay. This little gem is an easy recommend for all paranormal romance readers. Ms. McCall has written a keeper.

Jody’s won the masquerade costume competition for four years running. She should be a shoo-in for first place this year, as well, except that she’s being badly upstaged by a tentacle monster costume. Tara’s got to come to the rescue or it’ll be one miserable drive home. Besides, Jody’s a fantastic costumer, and she deserves all the attention she’s not getting. When Tara springs into action to divert the audience’s attention, the last thing she expects is a chance to experience some real live tentacle play herself!
Only problem is, her Tentacle Monster’s costume doesn’t come off. He’s really a shape shifting alien on the run from some real live alien bounty hunters dressed in what look like leftover eighties costumes from the set of Flash Gordon, and now Tara’s got to help him escape, or she could end up crated off to Zenon to stand trial for aiding and abetting a fugitive.

Where are the Men in Black when you need them, anyway?

Tara is attending a costume fan convention, and has been tasked with luring away a man in a fantastic tentacle costume who is stealing the thunder of her good friend. Always up for a challenge, Tara easily entices the man to follow her. As the elevator they are riding in is stopped, Mr. Tentacles, whose name is Juxtan, takes Tara on a whole ‘nother kind of ride. This boy is an alien on the run, and those tentacles sure feel real!

Tara comes off as brass and ballsy, but she’s really putting on a good face after her self-confidence took a dive. Juxtan is in a dangerous situation, but he finds himself wanting to play the hero for Tara, who has entranced him in a very short time. They have an explosive chemistry together, but have to outwit the villains before they can have any kind of future.

This was a very hot and sexy short story. Because of its length, the reader doesn’t really have time to become invested in the characters. They meet, there’s heat, and then the chase. It was amusing, and poked fun at comic conventions, and the people who attend them. I loved the heroic and sexy alien, and this story flowed along without a dull moment. For readers who are into sizzling sci-fi, this novella left me smiling. Don’t be surprised if you go looking for an alien of your own.

Gilly. Big, beautiful, smart-mouthed, one hell of a lady and oh, yeah — a werewolf who works on a faux-reality show. It’s a living. Warren. Die-hard cynic with the attitude and build of a Navy SEAL. Does not believe in the supernatural. He’s in for the surprise of his life. Dusty. A toned, muscled, devastatingly handsome teddy-bear of a guy. Loves to play games. Loves Gilly and Warren. He’s not prepared for what’s going to happen.

Together, the three of them are an unstoppable force. Sex, love and friendship rule the day and rock their world. That’s the way it’s always been. But they’re about to be put to the test. One night at a dance club plus one stranger in a ridiculous vampire costume equals a whole lot of trouble. Especially when the stranger turns out to be a real vampire. One who has some really nasty plans for Gilly, Warren and Dusty.

The problem with his plan? Gilly doesn’t take anything lying down, and she’s ready to kick some ass…

Gilly loves her men, that is unquestionable she demonstrates this in her willingness to both please them as well as do what it takes to get them back. It is sweet the way she cares for them, even when they do not know how truly much she protects them from the things that go bump in the night.

Gilly by far is the standout character in this story. She definitely brings a bright and at times dark aspect to the story. As it is told from her point of view, you get a lot of her quirky personality which I really appreciated. Even when her and her boys are facing possible death she still manages to keep her quick wit and smart mouth. She definitely keeps the story rolling and moving forward with plenty of entertainment.

Dusty and Warren’s characters felt a little flat at times on the other hand. They both had their own personalities. Dusty being the loveable and naive guy you just can’t help but to love. Warren very militant and logical and holding things together usually. I just would have liked to have seen a bit more about these characters as they made each character so different. They were a modern day odd couple, and seeing more of that would have made the ménage relationship felt more genuine and long lasting for me.

Dracula proves to Dusty and Warren that not only are vampires real, but they have more control over mortals and even werewolves than you can imagine. It is kind of scary how easily Dracula is able to take control over Dusty and Warren. Really makes me wonder if it is possible. This antagonistic conflict is a large part of the story, as Dracula easily makes them bend to his will and proves he can use them as puppets in any way he sees fit. I liked this element to the story, but other elements in the story felt a bit to clichéd to me and made it felt a bit disingenuous.

This story features sex, sex and more sex. There is no shortage of erotica here, and I loved it. I did label it forced as Dracula does force the parties to do sexual acts when they are under his spell, but it is done in a way that is tasteful for the genre and definitely not too much for this girl. Though I did cringe at a few of the acts wondering if it was painful, the characters seemed to enjoy themselves so how could I not enjoy it with them? I like my erotica with plenty of kink and eroticism so this was perfect for me.

I would say if you want a light, fun yet kinky story this will definitely fit the bill. It was definitely an easy read, and may even make you wish you can be mentally stimulated by a vampire or two yourself.

Later that night, the bear shifts into a tall, gorgeous ginger lover with the ability to make her forget everything except the passionate games he wants to play. Her teddy is the gift that keeps on giving!

Who knew an adorable stuffed bear could give you the best night of your life.

After a hectic and rough week in both her professional and personal life, Ellie visits her friend who works in the carnival. Little did she know that the cute and adorable teddy bear she won would give her what she craved.

This short story was passionate and sexy with a touch of shifters and magic. It had BDSM but a very, very light form of it that some readers will like. I liked Ellie. She was a hard-worker who needed a push to pursue what she wants in not only her personal life but her professional life as well.

The hero of this short story, this was an interesting twist on a paranormal. I’ll try to say this without spoiling it for other readers. I wanted to know more about the hero. Yes, there was some info that clued me into the hero but, I wanted to know more about this particular paranormal aspect of the whole story.

The premise caught my attention the storyline held it to the end. This book is perfect for any erotic lovers looking to unwind with a short and hot read.

Though part of an ongoing series of various authors, this short novella is totally standalone. Plot-wise, the main conflict is dealt with about halfway through the story. That kind of made the rest of the tale a bit redundant. But that’s okay.

I was expecting an erotic quickie, and that’s what I got. I didn’t need in-depth characters or a complex plotline. I wanted something hot and juicy to read, and that’s exactly what this tale delivers: Plenty of BDSM sex, with a variety of implements, positions, and techniques.

Warning for the faint of heart: There’s fisting and whipping.

All in all, a hot and heavy erotic quickie for those M/M readers with a penchant for BDSM and a cute couple that fits together perfectly.

2286: The North American Continent
Area once known as Upstate New York

In the aftermath of battle, Esterion, Ranger of the New Order, is looking for nothing more than a few moments’ peace. The last thing she expects is to be swept off her feet — literally — by a massive Blue Dragon who claims she’s his mate. Esterion knows nothing of the old ways — her mother’s seen to that — and she’s not about to be cowed into accepting Cerulean’s word that she’s the mate he’s been seeking for over 100 years. She certainly wasn’t searching for him!

But when her father, Pajja, shows up to rescue her, Esterion finds she’s not at all sure she wants to be rescued. Not when the stakes are higher than she’s ever bargained for, and the fate of Humanity hangs in the balance.

The end of the world…Shifter style!

Esterion is a ranger of the New Order. This means she’s a warrior, a soldier (not human) who fights to protect the humans and the world they live in. Esterion is the daughter of two powerful dragons. Her mother also fights to protect the humans whereas her father, who has an old world belief, prefers to not get involved in human business. However, with the Earth dying, the humans and dragons are going to have to pair up to protect humanity.

After years of searching for his mate, Cerulean finally finds her as the result of the outcome of a battle.

The first thing that I have to say would be that I didn’t read the first book of this series. There was a lot of the back story and initial facts of the book that were missing in this second book. For a reader who is interested in this book I would very much suggest to get the first book to completely understand the whole story.

Renegade is a very short story with an end of the world quality to it. However, the plot was not as developed as I would have liked. It felt like the main plot went missing halfway through. Though by the end I still wasn’t quite sure if the main plot was the Earth dying or the relationship between Esterion and Cerulean.

That being said, the sex between Esterion and Cerulean is hot. Very Hot! Never thought shifted dragon sex could be sexy! But it is both  sexy and passionate.  Anyone looking for a quick and hot dragon story should check out this book!

Prince Drexyl of Tourmalane is intent on collecting the bounty on the four Keshpan males on board the Lynten 12. What he doesn’t expect is to come face to face with his destined mate – a woman he’d thought didn’t exist. Having come from a world where women are extinct, Drexyl is completely enthralled with the tiny human female, and willing to do anything to keep her by his side. Even take on an entire ship of Tarnans by himself.

They say that love is blind, but in Lucie’s case, it’s literal. Blinded after an accident at the auction house, Lucie is fortunate to have a decent man purchase her anyway. Cael always made sure her basic needs are met. She had food, clothes, and shelter. Even though she knows he uses some of the other girls for carnal pleasure, he never attempts to touch her in any way that makes her feel uncomfortable. But her world is suddenly about to change when he agrees to give up ownership of her in exchange for passage on a spacecraft to a new planet and a new life for him.

It’s a time when females are scarce and several alien species are on the verge of extinction if they don’t find a way to replenish their numbers, human females have become a hot commodity. Only able to see vague shadows and forms, Lucie has a very limited ability to care for herself. Dependent upon the mercy of men seemingly desperate to have a woman in their bed, she can only hope none take advantage of her vulnerability.

To her surprise, it seems many of the males aboard the spacecraft have an interest in having her as their mate. She doesn’t understand why. Who could possibly want a woman who can’t see? One who can’t cook, sew, care for children, or do anything most mated women would do? Though many tell her she’s beautiful, she really can’t understand why they feel that way, unless they’re so desperate to have a woman they’re willing to take a blind one.

Not being one to wallow in self-pity, Lucie carries herself with as much pride and courage as she can muster. Feeling her way around the ship, she does what she can to limit the burden upon her fellow travelers. As a few of the men begin to make their interest in her more clear, Lucie starts to wonder if maybe she shouldn’t choose one of them to be her protector, among other things. Would that be so bad?

A Tourmalane warrior and son of the king, Dryxel is desperate to find a mate. Like other races, his is destined for extinction. But when it came to Tourmalane reproduction, he couldn’t just settle on any woman, only a true mate would produce children. From the moment he invades the Tarnan ship and finds Lucie stumbling down the hall, he knows she’s the one.

Like any warrior, Dryxel is headstrong and determined to get what he wants. He would have gladly fought off the Tarnan men, even on their ship and sorely outnumbered, but he wouldn’t risk Lucie’s safety. When he hears how they refer to her as being ill, and then watches as they recklessly shove her aside in an effort to get to him, he nearly goes crazy with rage. But there’s nothing he can do but let them capture him and hope for a way to escape back to his ship with Lucie in tow. Even if it causes a war between the Tarnan and Tourmalane races, he refuses to go without her.

Ms. Coulter Smith has penned an interesting world where it seems human females are on everyone’s must have list. While some races, like the Keshpans, use them for personal slaves and outlets for pleasure, there are others who would gladly fall to the ground and kiss the dirt from their feet. I really enjoyed Lucie’s character. While described by others in the story as beautiful, she’s certainly not perfect. She knows her limitations but doesn’t sit around feeling sorry for herself. Dryxel is like most warriors—big, strong, handsome, bull-headed—he’s a typical alpha male. It’s the way he treats Lucie as an equal, despite her restricted vision, that really boosts his appeal. I found the level of Lucie’s experience when it came to sex, compared to Dryxel’s lack of experience, a nice change. She wasn’t some scared little virgin. Blind or not, she knew what she wanted and proceeded to show Dryxel exactly what to do. As with any Science fiction/fantasy novel, there were some odd characteristics about Tourmalane men and procreation. In any other story, it would have seemed too far out there, but given the setting, it’s acceptable.

Probably one of the things that hindered my enthrallment of this story was the speed in which Lucie and Dryxel were decidedly in love with each other. I believe in lust at first sight, like at first sight, definite interest at first sight, and can even accept some pretty strong feelings toward someone within a short time span, but I just can’t swallow being “in love” within a day. Maybe I just take the word too literal, but true love only comes after a bit of time getting to know each other.

Aside from my own personal opinions and preferences, it was a decent story that certainly didn’t feel like a waste of my time. I don’t think I’ve read anything thus far that portrayed one of the characters as having a disability that would impact their life the way Lucie’s blindness does, and so the saving grace for this book was the author’s choice of characteristics for her characters. There’s a fine line for reviewers between being objective and nit-picking. Sometimes it’s hard to see the beauty of a story when you’re too busy fussing about things that you would have written differently. All in all, I enjoyed Cherished, and am glad to have read it.

Crippled without his Shadow Self, Richard must protect Amber from the darkness of her past.

For the first time in his life, Richard’s Shadow Self has abandoned him. Worse, a rogue Hunter has it imprisoned. Growing progressively weaker, Richard must protect Angel Falls from mysterious goings-on in the woods, convince Amber she’s his soul-mate, and reunite with his Shadow Self. But when Amber’s past catches up to her, he might not have the strength to be her protector.

My Protector Part 2 picks up where part one leaves off with Amber and Richard in Angel Falls on a robbery call. They end up not really investigating the robbery but instead sharing their past life events and current feelings. Richard confesses his feelings and desire for Amber and it seems the robbery was forgotten, and finding his shadow wolf wasn’t a priority.

The author has a talent and skill for writing however the story wasn’t the best plot wise. It has potential and the idea behind the plot idea intrigued me, but wasn’t fully investigated.  Instead, the main plot seemed more based on Amber and Richard mating, with bits of Amber’s prior marriage and the skin hunters just thrown in to add some additional filling.

I was frustrated, too, with Amber.  Her low self-esteem about her body was a mood killer. Richard is ready to mate and she continuously wants to point out that her breast aren’t firm, that she has stretch marks and that her underwear doesn’t match.

I have nothing negative to say about the author’s skill, however.  It is obvious the author has many entertaining stories to tell, but to me this story needs more structural development. I’d absolutely be willing to give more of her work a try.

Being sheriff of a small but unusual town has lots of perks. Richard knows just about everyone in town by name. He gets free coffee at the Planet Quest café. And he gets to spend as much time as he wants with Amber Grieves. The woman he desires above all others.
Amber is everything he always wanted in a mate — she is strong, kind, the perfect mother and ferocious in a fight… but still he finds himself firmly friendzoned, much to his and his shadow-wolf’s dismay.

For Richard is not any ordinary man. He is a Shadow Walker, a born shapeshifer who’s spent his life on the run from hunters who want to wipe him out.

When strange phone calls bring up memories of a dark past that rocks Amber’s soul and strange happenings begin in the woods, Richard might not live long enough to convince Amber to give love a try with the one man who wants to protect her above all others — even if he can’t protect himself.

Sheriff Richard Strong is a Shadow Walker and a frequent customer of Planet Quest cafe’. His frequent visits at the cafe aren’t just for the coffee. The whole town knows that Richard has his eyes set on Amber Graves, a waitress that works there. Will Richard or his shadow win the daily battle pushing him to open up to Amber or will his desire for her remain hidden?

I enjoyed the author’s imagination and writing style. The characters were brought to life with emotions and the author’s expressions of their feelings made them seem real. The emotions and feelings of struggling to express one’s feelings to a love interest, not to mention the fear of opening up your heart to new love because of past hurt.

The hidden attraction between Richard and Amber cause them both to enjoy self-sexual bliss which makes for hot adult scenes and sizzling bedroom descriptions. During the voyeurism of Richard’s wolf shadow he got an eye full of Amber during her heated passion.

I enjoyed the story but didn’t quite understand how the sheriff got a call regarding a robbery in Camp Jolly Times and then Amber volunteers to go along with him. Some how during this trip Richard’s conversation causes Amber to run away. While basking in the sun on a rock Amber starts to daydream. Her vision some what lost me. I am not sure if it’s just a dream of her prior relationship with Todd Ritter or if it’s actual events that happened. I was even more complex when Richard finds Amber and starts to reveal in depth a long version of himself and his skin walker history. They were out on a robbery call but all this talking and getting to know one another transpired. This just seemed like an odd time to bond.

The author did a nice set-up in part one. Both Amber and Richard have a past that seems to keep them bound from opening up and letting go to see what the present offers. Amber has a past abusive relationship that the author touches on and now she is receiving obscene phone calls. Also, Richard starts to open up to Amber about his heritage. Part one is left open ended, hopefully part two will give more depth into their past and if there is hope for their future.

I was delighted with part one and I look forward to reading part two to see how the author continues with the story.

Meliana has denied her powers as a witch because she’d rather fit into society. She doesn’t want to stand out, but a woman with blue hair and the power to work magic doesn’t necessarily blend in. She got the cat in an attempt to be normal, but this kitty has a secret and it’s guaranteed to surprise.

I liked this short story. It was a fast read, very short, but I enjoyed every page.

First of all, the story is set in a world where most people are aware of magical beings like witches, shifters and the like. Not surprisingly, there are a few radicals hanging around to stir up trouble.

Meliana, our heroine, is a witch. The story begins when her grandmother, a powerful matriarch witch, gifts her with a kitten that Meli names Chaos. The tricky witch assures Meli that he is a normal kitty cat, and tells her that they will set each other free. Fast forward two years and a broken heart before Meli wakes up to find a sexy stranger in her bed. He clues her into the truth. His name is Adrian and he is her magical shifter mate.

There was some conflict that livened things up in this short story. Meli has been beaten down by the people closest to her, so she has trouble accepting that Adrian’s love. She thinks that he’ll only end up breaking her heart and moving on. She keeps trying to push him away, until it’s almost too late.

Mostly, I liked this story. It was fast paced and fun to read. I liked the characters, easily connecting with them. While I enjoyed it, I felt that it could’ve been better with a stronger plot. Specifically, I had some unresolved questions about the villains and how their plans were thwarted. Also, I would’ve liked more background on Meli, because it was obvious that her life had not been easy. My main complaint is that I wanted more. Not bad for a short book though.

This was my first time reading this particular author. I enjoyed it, and look forward to reading more of her books in the future.
