Julia Lyle will have nothing to do with domineering men, no matter how tall, dark, and sexy. But Dom Marcus Cavendish will be satisfied with nothing less than collaring the fiercely independent Julia.

Nothing could have shocked her more…

Julia Lyle is invited to her best friend’s wedding and is stunned when Lana kneels to accept her husband’s collar. When Julia starts to object, firm, relentless hands land on her shoulders. The man behind her threatens to turn her over his knee if she interrupts. She’s outraged, but there’s no doubt he’s serious.

After the ceremony, he offers her a glimpse into her friend’s lifestyle, if she’s brave enough to accept.

Master Marcus Cavendish is everything she doesn’t want in a man—dominant, self-assured and arrogant. So why can’t she resist him?

Telling herself that learning about the lifestyle will make her a better friend, Julia agrees to submit to Master Marcus, but only for the evening. Firm and unrelenting in his handling of her, he introduces her to his tawse and the pleasure/pain of a spanking delivered by a competent Dom. The experience unnerves her, making her question everything she thought she knew about relationships, and his forced orgasms leave her shattered.

These feelings some time turns into guilt when men feel that they are unable to satisfy cheap viagra in usa find over here their partner Sexually This is a major problem for anti ED patients. No doubt the scene seduced her, and that makes her doubly determined to avoid him. She has fought hard for her freedom and vowed only to date nice men, and Master Marcus is anything but safe.

Marcus is undeterred. Julia is a natural sub. The way she responded to his touch, his voice, his punishment proved it. Now he has to convince her to yield to him, submitting to his tawse as she kneels to accept his collar.

Whatever I write, my review isn’t going to do Sierra Cartwright’s novel With this Collar justice. Well written and insanely hot, With this Collar, is the first book in the Mastered series (as a matter a fact if it didn’t say on the cover page that it was part of a series I never would have known) and kept me glued to the pages since page one.

The main character, Julia, is cast into the BDSM lifestyle when her best friend gets married to a Dom and like many people, she is filled with preconceived erroneous notions about what BDSM is. What I loved about Julia is that I could relate with her in a lot of ways. Her thoughts and internal dialogues feel real, as well as her search for “a nice guy” just because that’s the norm (and because her ex was a dominant ass).

The hero, Master Marcus is dreamy. He takes it upon himself to teach Julia how wrong she is about BDSM, and needless to say succeeds. Both sizzling and caring when he needs to be, he made me swoon and sigh along with Julia.

One of the things I liked best about this book was the way Cartwright had of explaining the BDSM lifestyle. Through Marcus and his “obsession” of talking through everything, the author not only walked Julia across different types of BDSM relationships, safe words, differences between subs and slaves but also myself as the reader. To boot, she managed to make all of that “talking” erotic and not dense or boring!

Beyond the BDSM, it is wonderful to see the romance that builds between the characters, as it does not differ in any way to any other romance. Like in any relationship, there are doubts and there is the fear to lose yourself in that love and that is clearly seen in the case of Julia. Furthermore, it is wonderful to watch the way the character’s evolve, especially Julia’s growth.

I’m definitely looking forward to the next installment in this Mastered series and will be rereading With This Collar while I wait, for it is a great scorching love story well worth reading at any time.

After her parents’ deaths, Evelyn Banks endured a living hell for nearly two years at the hands of her godfather’s son. She couldn’t tell anyone…not her brother, and certainly not the godfather who took them in.

Now she is twenty-five—and still trapped in silence. After all the time, no one would believe her. And any revelation of her shame could halt her godfather’s political aspirations. But what she can do is take her design firm to the next level with a project for her brother’s best friend. Handsome, sexy hotelier Vincent Hawk.

Vin has always had a thing for Evie, but kept his hands off out of respect for her brother. Now that they’re traveling together, though, keeping his distance is tearing him apart. Except every move he makes to get close is met with not just mere resistance, but with a fear-whitened face and trembling body.

Evie can’t deny she’s falling for Vin, but accepting their future means facing her past…a past that could destroy everyone she loves.

The story started off right away with Vincent and Evelyn dancing around each other, I admit I love friends to lovers’ books. Especially when there is the extra complication of heroine being the sister of the hero’s best friend, those stories always seem like they were fated to be together.

Evelyn “Evie” Banks has a lot of baggage and a fear of intimacy that is well earned. I wept for her from the very beginning, and while I wept, I cheered her on to not let her past win, to go ahead and love Vincent that he was worth it. She was beautiful, sexy, curvy and so smart all things that I love to see in heroines, her past just made her seem more human, more real, someone I could relate to on a visceral level. It’s not often I meet a character that I relate so well to and connect to instantly, but Evie was just that type of character.

Vincent “Vin” Hawk is handsome, sexy, rich and so patient. He was the perfect hero and friend for Evie. Ms. Bennett does a great job of not making him too perfect, he is a man and he reacts like I imagine any man would react to Evie and her past. He’s patient and strong but even he has his breaking point. I loved him because, while he is the rich hero saving the day, he wasn’t one of those spoiled rich heroes who expect everything to be handed to him. He works hard to get what he wants and he wants Evie by his side forever, and I found myself sighing with pleasure over every move he makes while courting her. He’s the very sort of hero I love to fall in love with, and why I read romance.

This book does have a past history of abuse so I could see it being a trigger for someone who has suffered in their past, with that warning, I believe Evie and her past and every emotion she experiences because of it was written so beautifully that I walked the experience with her, I felt it all. That’s not a bad thing, occasionally difficult issues need to be addressed, and it gave this story just enough realism to engage me but still let me escape into this world. I highly recommend this book; it was sexy, sweet, emotional and kept me reading late into the night.

Falling asleep in a different bed every night has made it easy for Cain Black to forget his past. It’s been ten years since he packed his guitar and left Crystal Lake, Michigan, to chase his dreams. Now tragedy has forced him home again. And though Cain relishes the freedom of the road, one stolen moment with Maggie O’Rourke makes him wonder if he’s missing out on something bigger than fame.

For Maggie—single mother and newly settled in Crystal Lake—love is a luxury she just can’t afford. Sure, she appreciates the tall, dark and handsome looks of prodigal son Cain Black. But how long can she expect the notorious hellion to stay?

Guitarist & band front man Cain Black walks straight back into memory: a sad event brings him back to his home town after a decade away – back, in fact, to his old High School crowd.

There’s a bit of the ‘reunion’ type feeling…right up until he meets Maggie O’Rourke. Never let it be said that a rockstar can’t be interested in a maid…a stunning, gorgeous maid. Of course, there are impediments. She’s a single mom and a cautious one. There are also any number of jealousy issues – either about them, or about status, or about old personal stuff . But this book starts with the death of a hero, and somehow, the perceptions about what is really important, about friendships and people, remain true throughout. Both our main characters are tough enough to disregard opinion, and are nice enough people, individually, to see past a bunch of pointless gossip. There are, however, things one cannot ignore. A dark secret might end them after all…but the revelation is part of the story, and this is no spoiler!

I was intrigued at the start of this book. I sympathized with the small-town boy who no longer belongs, and admired the tough lady, making her own way. Events and the endlessly unexpected kept me turning the pages; as did the seduction scenes, which are amazingly intimate yet classily delivered. And by the end, you’ll see there are a number of ways to be a hero.

The Summer He Came Home is everything it should be, and meets every expectation. Fans of the contemporary romance will be delighted to discover the talented author, Juliana Stone: This book should go to the top of the must read pile.

Wishes are powerful things, if you belong to the MacClarity clan. You can ask Ernest for anything and he’ll make it come true, even though he’s been dead for nearly a hundred years. Puppy MacClarity doesn’t take the rumors about Ernest too seriously. But when he’s had enough of his teacher’s harassment, Puppy asks Ernest to take care of Miss Pritchett for him. Ernest does and family secrets start to surface like magic. During a summer filled with both fear and fun, Puppy begins to realize that Ernest isn’t the only special thing about his family, and their oddities aren’t just skin deep. Too bad he didn’t know sooner.

Every time I hear the name of this book, it makes me want to dance around the room and sing for a minute, I loved it! I mean – with crazy ravens, weird cats, a vengeful, spitting llama, genius older cousins, a boy named Puppy, mysterious moms and a protective ancestral ghost – what’s not to love?

This family is completely dysfunctional but in the best possible way. The best part about this family, though, is that even though everyone is different, they all love and support each other no matter what, even when they don’t agree. While blood-related family is very important to all of them, they also pull others into their “pack” and consider them family. If anyone messes with someone in their pack, they will end up answering to all of them. The presence of unconditional love, acceptance and loyalty is never questioned by family or friends throughout the book and the kids all stick together like glue. Every teenager should get to experience this environment.

Initially, I wasn’t too sure about reading a book with a main character named Puppy. Then, I started reading it and found out that not only was it a nickname from his mom but it had also carried over to school, teachers and friends and it became even weirder. But somehow it worked. It gave the character a chance to rise above what you expect with a moniker like “Puppy”. Puppy is a lovable, easy-going typical teenager most of the time, but the protective man in him rises to the surface when needed. Puppy stumbles into some adventure (and trouble), with rest of the pack right there to help him, but ultimately there is a moment when it comes down to Puppy alone. In that moment, I think we see Puppy transition from the more innocent childhood days to his real journey to the person he will eventually become.

The pack spends the summer at what they all call “camp”, which is some rural family property with a lake, a creek and woods. With the ever-present ghost of Puppy’s ancestor, shown in very interesting and fun ways, and the question of exactly what it is the moms can do, there is an element of intrigue and mysticism that carries through the entire book. The plot moves along very smoothly and is, at times, fast-paced with some moments that kept me on the edge of my seat.

With two sets of twins, plus moms that are twins, and a multitude of friends and other people that make appearances in the book, it would be easy to start confusing characters but the author does an excellent job of making them all very individual. Even the animals become unique and memorable. This book is very well written, with enough twists and turns to keep my attention from beginning to end, including one incredibly late night.

One of the things that I loved is the song list at the beginning of the book. Throughout the book various characters (usually the moms) are singing different songs – which will end up being one of the songs from the list. I love music and it’s usually a big part of the lives of most of the teenagers that I know, so I love that this is included as a focal point and not just as a background element. In contrast, one thing I was slightly confused by was the elephant. Was it a way to give honor or invoke/evoke? I was just never really sure. I don’t want to say much more than that because I don’t want to give anything away.

There are a lot of lessons to be learned with this book, but not in an in-your-face kind of way. The lessons are subtle, which is perfect for young adults. It is fun, reads at the perfect pace, with mystery, intrigue and hilarious antics of some of the more zany members of the pack. I’ve read that this might be a series (not confirmed by any reliable sources) and I’m really hoping that they are right. I would love to spend some more time with this group. They were just a lot of fun and I was always anxious to see what sort of mess they were going to get themselves into next!

Then I giggle to myself, lock the bedroom door and dive in. That was my experience with Marie Macpherson’s The First Blast of the Trumpet, because…as the first line states, “There’s no rhyme nor reason to it. Your destiny is already laid doon.” At least mine was by opening the book.

I connected with the characters instantly and was pulled into the book from the opening scene. I loved the slightly awkward, historical language and found it added to the texture of the book. The multiple points of view included on most pages might cause some readers problems, but it did not give me pause. It brought to life characters whose time was limited but whose part in the story was essential. I found myself thinking of this book and the characters when I wasn’t reading—a true sign of a good book in my opinion.

If you like well researched, rich, historical stories full of the sights, sounds and scents of a past era, embroiling real people in the messy mélange of honest emotions and frequently misguided ambitions that make up human history, then this may well be the book for you. I certainly enjoyed it. Frankly, this is my preferred way of learning about the past. History through the eyes of those who lived it. Ms. Macpherson brought early 16th century Scotland to life and showed how the Battle of Flodden was truly the first blast of the trumpet that changed the course of Scottish history. I highly recommend The First Blast of the Trumpet.

Her parents and sister murdered, LeeAnn, who was born deaf, finds herself under the guardianship of her thieving step-uncle, William. Jacob was too late to save LeeAnn’s family from rogue vampires, but can he save her from William… and himself?

Following the death of her parents and younger sister at the hands of a group of fanged, red-eyed monsters, LeeAnn was forced to live with her step-uncle, William, and his not-so-friendly mother.

Jacob watched over LeeAnn since finding her the night of her family’s murder by rogue vampires. He’d failed his job as Watcher and hadn’t been able to save her family.

Because of this, we believe in viagra samples free the illusion of our chronological histories. The discovery of her step-uncle’s theft of her inheritance sends LeeAnn into flight to a world where the fanged creatures aren’t the only monsters she needs to fear.

Jacob breaks his vow to keep LeeAnn out of his world hunting bloodthirsty Rogues when he rescues her from William, but can he uphold his vow to keep her safe?

With complex, riveting characters and a dynamic plotline this story was mesmerizing. LeeAnna’s background story especially made the story intriguing. She has had to cope without her sense of hearing as well as dealing with the murder of her family at such a young age. Her sweet, innocent demeanor after this grave loss left her vulnerable to others, including other family.

Jacob had been protecting LeeAnn for longer than she realized. He spent most of his life protecting humans from the vampires that prey on them in the night, so protecting one more didn’t seem like a big deal. It shows how strong Jacob’s sense of honor and compassion is for people who don’t even know he exists. It was clear to me that Jacob held his honor above everything including himself. Even the way he interacted with the other watchers enforced this belief. It definitely warmed my heart to see the way he took LeeAnn under his wing when it was clear so had no one else to turn too. I was happy to see that they found one another because they both seemed to fill a void the other had without even realizing it themselves.

Williams, LeeAnn’s uncle really knows how to bite off more than he can chew.  Like many other misguided individuals, only his wants and needs matter. This is particularly displayed not only in the way he treats LeeAnn, but also his own mother. I was hoping he would get exactly what he deserves by the end of the story, but I have a feeling I have not seen the last of him.

I have been a long time fan of the Watcher Series. I have to say that this is one of my two favorite stories within the series. I think the author really found a way to strengthen the characters and heighten the tension in the plot by adding some really exciting reveals and twists. I would highly recommend this story to anyone who is looking for a great paranormal story to read, whether they are familiar with the series or not, but cause anyone can enjoy the incomparable story.

Should she kill him? Seduce him? Or both?

A Principatus story.

As an ex-succubus granted her soul by the Highest of Powers, Inari Chayse has spent the twenty years since her “rebirth” channeling her voracious sexual energy into kicking the asses of all malevolent paranormal beings.

Torn between the sex demon she was and the demon assassin she has become, she has no intention of complicating her life further. But when the vampire who pleasures her dreams walks into her paranormal strip club—and takes complete, humiliating command of her body—complicated doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Fifty years ago, Ezryn Navarr abdicated his trueborn throne to spare his people a bloody destruction. He never expected to find himself in a Sydney strip club, buried in the deliciously sensual body of the very divine assassin he’s been commanded to kill. The bigger surprise? Inari awakens something he thought long dead. His humanity.

As their tormented desires intertwine with a centuries-old battle of blood and power, redemption seems as unobtainable as love. The backlash will rock the entire vampire race, leading to their salvation…or their deaths.

When succubus Inari Chayse refuses an order to seduce and drain a very special target, she gets the attention of the Highest of Powers, and she becomes something she never expected. She is granted the status of Principatus, one of demon assassins working for the protection of humanity. For twenty years, she has ignored her passionate side, thinking that she must not give in, or she could lose her status as Principatus, but her dreams of a dark and alluring master vampire have her confused and on edge.

When the ghost of her sister visits her, she believes she is losing her mind. When she actually meets the vampire she has been dreaming of, it is a shock, both because he actually exists, and because of the unusual circumstances of their meeting. Ezryn Navarr is a master vampire, of royal blood and once the destined leader of the race, until the machinations of his twin caused a breech and Ezryn was passed over in favor of Haral. When Inari kills a rogue vampire preying on innocents, Haral orders Ezryn to destroy the Principatus, and gives him a deadline: kill her in four days, or Haral begins murdering vampires who supported Ezryn as the true heir. As Ezryn and Inari grow closer, both fight what is building between them, until time runs out and Ezryn must take a stand. Can a Master Vampire and a Principatus together stop the insanity of the vampire leader? Can Ezryn ever forget what he has learned about Inari and trust her again? Can there be a happy ending for two individuals so strong, yet so wounded?

Dark Embrace is the second of Lexxie Couper’s Principatus books, and is a dark and thrilling story of greed, lust envy and desire. The world Ms. Couper has created is an intriguing mix of supernatural beings living in the real world, side by side with humans in the modern locations around Sydney Australia, and a look at things that go bump in the night. I like this world, because I know there will always be something there to tempt me to the darker side, and yet, there is always a thread of wonder in Ms. Couper’s stories as well. The characters are compelling, with depth and feeling and passions.

Inari Chayse is a former succubus, now fighting for the Highest of Powers to eliminate evil and protect humanity. She is strong, dangerous, and very lonely. She feels guilty for the death of her sister Tianya at the hands of a demon, and she wants to avenge that death. I like Inari, with her sense of loyalty and her desire to protect humanity. I enjoyed watching as she believed she had lost her power as a Principatus, and learned how to integrate her two so different sides to become the true protector she was meant to be. I also enjoyed watching her confusion concerning Ezryn, a master vampire she should hate, but wants to love.

Ezryn Navarr, born and raised to assume the position of overlord of the vampire race once his father passes, is strong, loyal to friends and family and race, handsome and determined. When his twin, Haral, uses trickery and deceit to take the position that is rightfully Ezryn’s, he puts as much distance as he can between them. Until Haral makes mistakes, and shows how evil and depraved he truly is, Ezryn has ignored him, but now he has to act. Ordered to destroy the Principatus, he is determined to protect those his brother threatens until he meets Inari, then he is torn by his feelings. How can he kill the one woman who makes him feel alive? When he thinks Inari has betrayed him and lured him using her succubus powers, he is ready to destroy her. I like watching Ezryn come to terms with all that he has to do, and his tough decisions concerning his people, his friends and the evil his brother represents.

This story is strong and the passions are hot and extremely potent, and there is a sense of evil at times, mostly when Haral is present. The characters in this are all well crafted, and the presence of the first Principatus, Ven Watkins, was an added draw for me. There are several story threads here that are brought to a more than satisfactory conclusion, and the addition of Inari’s sister Tianya was intriguing: is she a ghost, or just a figment of Inari’s imagination? As a Lexxie Couper book, of course the sex is off the charts hot and frequent, and I was thoroughly satisfied by the way this story came to its conclusion. I look forward to more from this world, and hope that Ven gets his own story as well. This is for those who like their romance paranormal with a dark twist. But be aware that this one just could melt your ereader, or burn your fingers, so keep the ice close at hand.

When a wolf is hot for a witch, the sparks can be downright dangerous.

Heart’s Desire, Book 2

Zachary Beckett has finally done something right. He saved his brother’s life, and his reward is a ticket to Cleveland to train as a witch. Except every spell he casts wreaks havoc—until he’s banished to the children’s classroom.

At least his teacher is easy on the eyes. It isn’t long before the heat is rising, and it has nothing to do with a bubbling cauldron.

For young men, it is important to understand the greed factor here, in order to clarify the rules that have to be changed. viagra online Does the medicine work immediately after consumption? His blue eyes haunt her, his body is made for sin, and his magic? The less said about that the better. But Jo is determined to help him, even if she has to fight their mutual attraction, tooth and nail.

When Zach discovers he’s been operating under a hex, he and Jo come together in a blazing-hot ritual to break its hold and reveal Zach’s destiny to fight evil. But the old enemy who cast the spell won’t give up until every Beckett male is stripped of his mate. Which could leave Zach to howl in agony forever—and doom Jo to a fate worse than death.

Zachary Beckett is youngest of four brothers, and the one most likely to mess up. Born into a family of powerful wizards, Zach feels like he has always let his family down, being the weakest member of the family, with unpredictable magic. When his brother’s mate (did I mention the Beckett men are cursed to be wolves, too?) discovers why Zach’s magic goes wrong, he starts to feel a bit of hope. Seems Zach is not a wizard at all, but actually Lana tells him he is a witch, and a powerful one at that. When he is sent for witch training, he still has difficulty with control, and is finally put in a novice class taught by Johra Jo Yashodhar. Jo has no idea why Zach can’t control his magic, even Prince Roland is ready to bind his powers, but when evil threatens Zach’s family, a little research reveals that Zach is one of the rarest of witches, one of Hecate’s Own, chosen by the Goddess herself to fight evil magic and rogue warlocks. And Jo is his destined mate, causing all kinds of complications. When the evil stalking his family threatens Jo, Zach’s family unites to stop the Godwin’s at all costs, even accepting help from unexpected places. Can Zach keep Jo safe, after seeing visions of one possible fate for his mate? Can Jo accept Zach and his wolf into her life? Can they accept the help from one very powerful and unexpected ally?

Hecate’s Own is the second of Dana Marie Bell’s Heart’s Desire series, and set in a world both magical and dangerous. This is a well-crafted world, with multi-dimensional and charismatic characters. The Becketts are the good guys here, and are fighting the evil warlocks to stay alive. The fight from book one has gone undercover in this one, with the Godwins hiding until they are ready to strike. I love this world, where people use magic as easy as breathing, well all but Zach, that is. Ms. Bell has given Zach the role of underdog, always trying to prove himself, and making messes along the way. But there is also lots of humor here as well, to lighten the dark and dangerous threat.

Zachary Beckett is smart, handsome and tired of being the one who can do nothing right. In a family filled with strong magic, he feels like a failure, until Lana and her grandmother discover why Zach’s magic fails. I like Zach, he is adorable, and so hard on himself I couldn’t help feeling sorry for him at times. When he learns that Jo is his mate, he thinks he may have accidentally cast a love spell, and he wants her to become his mate voluntarily. I liked watching him come into his own, and learn how to use his gifts to protect family and friends. Watching as he realized Jo wasn’t under a spell and really cared for him was a delight.

Johra ‘Jo’ Yashodhar is one of the strongest witches of her generation, second in magic only to Prince Roland. She is smart, talented, and has a sarcastic edge to her wit that is a delight. I loved her early dialogs with Zach, when she believed he was the biggest menace to the magical community, and I loved that she was able to admit she was wrong when Zach’s true power was revealed. I loved that she didn’t just fall right into Zach’s arms, but let him take the time to convince her of his worth before she convinced him she wanted him.

There is a lot of magical danger in this one, both overt and a bit behind the scenes. The Godwins have continued to turn to evil, and have begun to practice the darkest of magic, including blood rites to increase their power. I found the family unity, with all of the Becketts uniting to stop the evil, to be a powerful thread throughout this story. I also liked that the other two Beckett men have learned who their mates are, though it could get complicated at times. The secondary characters, Annabelle, Prince Roland and Princess Arianna, and the Beckett men are all as well crafted as Zach and Jo, and the passion that builds steadily between them turns blazing hot when Zach finally claims Jo as his. I enjoyed the surprise of who became their ally in the fight against the Godwins, and hope to see her with a story in the future. This one is for all those who want some suspense and danger, and more than a little magic with their romance.

Twin detectives Ben and Chase Dawson have been sent to investigate an unusual murder at a resort owned by Julian Lodge. Julian wants them to protect the prime suspect, a young submissive who was the last person to see the victim alive. The job seems simple until Ben and Chase discover that the beautiful submissive they both desire has a dark past.

Natalie Buchanan came to the Willow Fork Tranquility Spa seeking sanctuary after escaping the clutches of a twisted sadist. Working as a massage therapist at the resort has given her a chance to heal as well as access to the spa’s secret dungeon. But when one of her regular clients ends up dead on her table, Natalie fears that the monster she once escaped has come back to claim her.

As Natalie rediscovers the beauty of BDSM with her twin Masters, all three will be forced to confront her past.

Kidnapped, caged and beaten…but not broken, not quite. This has been Natalie Buchanan’s reality for more months than she can count. Having been raised around the BDSM lifestyle her whole life lead her to search out her own Dom when she was ready. What she found instead was something so dark and sinister it almost took away her desire to live. If it hadn’t been for a certain Kitten and later the help of one very powerful Club owner, she might never have gained a second lease on life much less find the men who would bring her full circle and surround her with more love than she could fathom.

It would be a hard won HEA but, oh my goodness, I cried, laughed, cheered and rejoiced with every step towards the end of this fantastic story. Actually, I should change that to “the beginning” of an amazing love story. Everything Chase, Ben and Natalie go through from the first time they meet is leading up to when all three are able to firmly shove the past into its proper place and replace the nightmares with the possibilities and hope of a future together.

Do you get all gooey over the sexy brooding over-protective type of guy? I know I do. Let me introduce you to Chase Dawson. If you’ve ready most any of the last four or so Siren series books you’ve already met this hottie who has no mouth filter. He doesn’t think about what he’s going to say, he just says it and rarely, if ever, cares about who may be listening. He loves his twin brother, his computer, solving homicides and women. Those last two run a close race to tie for third place and sometimes his computer beats out his brother. Like any proper brooder, Chase has self-esteem issues. He and his brother put me in mind of a certain set of symbiotic Fae kings. Anyway, Chase’s issues don’t keep him from meeting and bedding plenty of lovely ladies but they keep him from making a real connection. That’s where having an identical wingman to tag team with comes in handy.

Speaking of the very sweet and sexy twin brother, Ben would be a candidate for sainthood if it wasn’t for the fact that he really enjoys spanking women. Ben Dawson is the epitome of longsuffering. You’ve met Chase already. Wait until you meet his sister, Georgia, you’ll understand. His gentle caring side made me sigh but it was his uber alpha maleness that left me panting. Ben is the charmer of the two. Given a few minutes, he could charm rain from a clear sky. Yeah, he’s that good.

Together Ben and Chase push Natalie to become the woman she was meant to be before she fell into Hawk’s cage. The imagery Ms. Oak paints into the story gave such a clear and concise depiction of how much both Natalie and Kitten suffered at the hands of this mad man.

When this epic adventure starts Natalie has already began taking baby steps to regain a piece of herself. Her brightly colored hair and strategic piercings may seem silly or frivolous to some but it’s clear they are wins for her because she made the decisions to alter herself in ways that made her visible. Hawk went out of his way to make the women he kidnapped believe that they were less than human and didn’t deserve to be noticed. I don’t know if Natalie made the connection of “Cotton Candy” pink hair with a cry to be seen as a viable human on purpose or if it was more of a subconscious move but it certainly caught the attention of two honest to goodness heroes.

I’ve come to the conclusion that author Sophie Oak must have been a Domme in another life. Few authors enjoy torturing their characters as much as she does. What’s more, she’s turned her fan girls into bratty begging subs who hang on every word of her books as she puts her heroes and heroines through the wringer. We can’t get enough of the stories that come from her world building no matter if they’re set in Bliss, CO, Dallas, TX or on a completely different paranormal plane of existence. I told someone recently it’s very much like a giant puzzle and every story she writes adds a few more pieces. It’s pretty incredible how she manages to shift and move from one series to another and yet it seems like one seamless story when they’re read in order, including the paranormal.

Something else Ms. Oak did, that is a total win in my book, is how she has taken two characters that could have very easily been relegated forever to secondary character status without ever realizing their story potential and built them up to be two of the most anticipated books of the series. Logan was a laid back naive young sheriff’s deputy when we first met him in Three To Ride. Kitten made her first appearance and a very real impression on readers in Siren in Bloom. Readers were there to witness Logan’s loss of innocence to some Russian mafia men but we only got small glimpses of Kitten’s back story. Hold on to your hats because you learn A LOT about who Kitten was and how she came to be in Siren Unleashed. We also meet Logan’s future heroine. He’s gonna need some help for sure. This isn’t their stories but, man, Ms. Oaks sets then up to be one more wild ride. I can’t wait.

Siren Unleashed is a stand-alone story but there are so many reoccurring characters from the other books, I would strongly recommend reading them in order. Don’t let the terrific number of books in the two main and one side series keep you from reading this one. It has easily become my favorite story so far and I’m so excited to see what she gives us next. I feel like Oliver Twist, “please, ma’am, may we have some more?”. Pick up this latest Siren adventure or start at the beginning with Small Town Siren and work your way through Texas, Colorado and beyond but just don’t miss the ride.

Robin Goodfellow has met his match.

The Gray Court, Book 4

When the Black Queen kidnaps one of the White Queen’s nephews, Robin Goodfellow is sent to ensure that the young prince safely returns to the bosom of his family. True to his role as Oberon’s Hobgoblin, he is ready for anything…except meeting his truebond, the very delicious, very human Michaela Exton.

Michaela has dreamed about a flame-haired rogue named Robin Goodfellow since she was a little girl, but everyone knows Puck doesn’t really exist. In real life, it’s a dark-eyed man named Ringo who makes her heart beat faster.

She is closer to her dream man than she thinks, and nobody knows it better than Robin, who wears the guise of Ringo. But there’s competition for her love in the form of Lord Raven, who holds a secret that will rock the foundation of Robin’s world. As a Black Court delegate does the unthinkable, leaving an enraged, grief-stricken Robin hanging onto his humanity by a thread, only Michaela has the power to bring him back from the killing edge—if she survives.

When Prince Evan Yates, the nephew of Gloriana, the Queen of the White Court, goes missing, she requests aid from Oberon, King of the Gray Court in rescuing him from his kidnappers. Oberon trusts his Hobgoblin, Robin Goodfellow, to do the job. After all, there is only one being more deadly in all of creation than Robin, and that is his King.

This is a political move by the Black Court, but the kidnapping is just a diversion for the real objective: find a way to destroy Robin and his Gray Court so that the Black can assume power once and for all. This is something that Robin is determined to stop, but like all good intentions, complications arise, this time in the persona of one delightful and off center woman, Michaela Exton. All her life, Michaela has been in love with Robin Goodfellow, never once believing he could be real. When Robin goes undercover at the Fairy Con where the negotiations are underway for the return of the victim, Michaela meets Robin, disguised as a man named Ringo Midori, and is drawn to him. Robin recognizes her as his truebond mate, but finds he has unexpected competition for her attention from the most dangerous representative of the Black Court, Lord Raven MacSweeney, the Fear Dearc.

But things are not all they appear to be, and as Robin/Ringo falls under the delight of finding his truebond mate, things begin to spiral out of control in more ways than could be imagined. Can Robin win his fair lady’s hand, while trying to find Prince Evan, and uncover the true reason behind the Black Queen’s trickery? When tragedy strikes, will Robin survive, or will he cause total devastation in his madness?

The Hob is Dana Marie Bell’s fourth entry into the Gray Court series, and is an excellent addition. The world here, as always with Ms. Bell, is extremely well defined, and the characters are all larger than life. This is an imaginative and humorous look behind the scenes at a fantasy convention, as seen through the eyes of the ‘real’ beings, and I enjoyed the irony of it all. There is a darker edge to this, with multiple plot lines running through it, and questions as to who can be trusted throughout the story. Make no mistake, in spite of all the side trips, this is Robin and Michaela’s story, and one of the funniest and most tragic of the series yet.

Michaela Exton is unusual, with a streak of impetuousness and a total disregard for propriety. She is smart, determined and off the wall silly at times, but her devotion to her small patients at the hospital where she works is nothing less than a mama bear for her cubs. She is sassy, and has no internal filters to stop her from saying the most absurd things at times. Her total dedication to Robin Goodfellow, defending her imaginary lover to all her friends, is delightful, especially once she meets the real thing. Once she discovers that all the creatures she believed were imaginary are, in fact, as real as she is, she accepts with an open mind and an open heart. She doesn’t understand how she can love Robin Goodfellow, yet want Ringo too, until he reveals all to her in one night of passion like none she’s known before. I love Michaela, with her funky orange Jeep, her strength of character, and her courage in the face of it all.

Robin Goodfellow AKA The Hob, Oberon’s Hobgoblin, Puck or a myriad of other titles, is the strong, dangerous and extremely lonely man, watching as his friends and acquaintances meet their bonded mates, leaving him ever more alone. Robin is handsome, strong, and extremely loyal to those he surrounds himself with. But he is also lonely, and his dreams of a mate, just one person to be with have been with him a long time. When he meets Michaela, he is stunned to recognize her as the woman from his recent and very hot dreams, and realizes she is meant to be his. I love Robin, for his sense of loyalty, and his total devotion to those he calls friend., and of course, he is totally hot. I loved watching as he fell under the spell of this tiny human woman, and the things he did to win her.

This story is a bit more complex than most of the gray Court Books. There is the usual political posturing from the Black Court, especially from the Malmayne Clan. But there is the side issue of the kidnapping of Prince Evan, the murders around Philadelphia by the Water Horse, or each uisge, and the mystery of Raven MacSweeney’s presence at the negotiations. I loved that Ms. Bell brings in the characters from all the previous books, giving us a look at what is happening with everyone. I enjoyed watching as Ms. Bell subtly wove each of the threads into one marvelous tapestry of love, passion, loss, reunion and a touch of revenge, for a spectacular conclusion to Robin and Michaela’s tale. My one complaint…Ms. Bell has learned the art of the tease, and has left us with a cliffhanger of an ending for the next Gray Court book. I recommend this for those who want to laugh, cry, and fall in love with a rascal named Puck and the woman who steals his heart.
