I really enjoyed the interaction between these two characters and the way Sara worked so hard to help Jack and he worked so hard to get her to fall in love with him as much as he already loves her. Sara could be a bit abrupt and a tiny bit abrasive but I honestly thought that it made her more real. With the way she’s been rejected and treated in the past, I would have been annoyed if she’d been perfect and unaffected instead she had very real human flaws that I enjoyed.

I definitely recommend this story and truly believe it could be read all by itself. It’s a great story from an author and I will make a habit to check out more from her in the future.

However, there was plenty of sizzle leading up to the first sex scene, making it well worth the wait.

The secondary characters were great too and didn’t seem thrown in there just for the sake of the plot. All the shape shifters were fun to read about. And there’s not just one or two of them, but many.

If you like shape shifters and lots of sexual tension, I think this might be a perfect book for you.

When her mentor Thanatos leaves on a mission, then vanishes without a trace, he takes her heart with him. She goes on to become an emotionless assassin, determined to care about no one or nothing. When she gets her new assignment, she comes face to face with the one man she could never get over. I liked Falynn for her pragmatic approach to life, but enjoyed watching her come back to life as she confronts Thanatos/Corvan, her target on this mission. I also liked that she was able to see past the dogma of the Galactic Union, and think for herself.

Corvan ‘Thanatos’ Jareth is a dangerous and intense individual, deadly to any he believes to be his enemy. But he has a gentle heart, and knows his last official mission was wrong, and so instead of killing his target, he rescued her, and has kept her safe and alive for three years. When Falynn confronts him in his new life, he knows he has to convince her to help him, because he never forgot how she felt in his arms, and in his heart. I liked seeing him seduce and then convince the woman he couldn’t forget to join by him to protect the child he rescued so long ago. I like Corvan for his strength of character, and I really enjoyed his special talents unique to his species.

There is action, danger and adventure in this one, and a struggle by Falynn’s android companion when the Galactic Union overrides Falynn’s programming, sending him on a destructive path toward the child Corvan has fought to keep safe. But there is also passion, love and, since this is a Lexxie Couper story, lots of screaming hot sexy action, especially when Corvan brings several of his temporal selves in to one place to bring pleasure to Falynn. After all, what woman wouldn’t want her man to be able to answer her every desire with only his touch? I recommend this for those who like adventure and passion, in a small spaceport called Mercy.

Okay, so I was excited about Jackson’s book. I loved the romance of the story. I liked that there was some family drama thrown in for the two of them and how they supported each other. I loved the steamy love scenes. The sexual chemistry was great, so the heat level was scorching. With some help from Jackson, Mia discovers that she is a naughty girl. There was nothing vanilla about the love scenes. Oh yeah, they were plenty dirty with lots of kinky stuff going on. They played around with some anal, spanking, toys and voyeurism. Yet, even as the relationship heats up, Jackson had to work hard to convince Mia that what they had was the real thing. The drama was intense, and helped to keep the reader in anticipation all the way until the ending.

So the plot was solid and it flowed just right. The conflict was good, with the family drama and personal problems for Jackson and Mia. It kept the story moving along at a fast pace. It was nice catching up with the characters from the previous books in the series. I enjoyed the chuckles when the crew got together. I have to put this out there too and hope that what I’m thinking is true. Just so you know …. a rowdy new crew came to town in this book. I was intrigued by these guys. Could a new series be just around the corner ? I hope so.

I enjoyed the heck out of this book. I sincerely think other readers will too. So I’ll be giving it a big recommendation.

As another installment in the Mastered series, like all others, For the Sub can be read as a standalone. Just like previous books in the series, this is another superb novel that hooked me from page one.

After the death of his wife, Master Niles is still not himself. Sure, he’s still part of the scene but his heart is not into it, until he meets Brandy. I liked Master Niles from page one. He’s intelligent, seductive, good looking and of course, dominant. However, his dominance is a little different. He doesn’t expect the sub to act like a perfect model, he wants more than just a pleasing answer, he wants honesty and truth in his encounters and he gets that from Brandy. As an added bonus, Niles knows how to treat animals (I think I sighed loudly more than once when he was interacting with Brandy’s pets).

Though there would be no story without Master Niles, I believe the star of the show is Brandy. She’s not what one would usually expect to see in a submissive (and I’m not the only one to think so, Niles thinks at one point: “She straddled him and tugged his T-shirt from his jeans. Eleanor would have never been so bold. At the Den, neither would Brandy. But here, her natural personality shone. He liked it—her—more and more.”).

Brandy’s personality is something I loved about this story. She is a character that has a life beyond BDSM. She has a budding business, knows all about tomatoes and has pets. A heroine with a soft heart, Brandy was not only unusual in that sense; she was also experienced in the scene. Unlike other novels in which the woman wants to experiment with BDSM or has submissive tendencies and is just waiting for the right Dom to appear, Brandy was a professional submissive that knew what she wanted and how she wanted it at all times. She was the one in control. She was more than a submissive. She was her own person outside of the bedroom and inside; and even in the sizzling hot sex scenes, I could see that degree of control that every submissive has over his or her Dom. Of course, Niles saw it too, and the bond that grows between them at every passing page goes beyond the sex.

It is worth mentioning, that unlike previous books in the Mastered series, I felt that there was no explicit talking through everything occurring in the BDSM scene. Perhaps, because none of the characters were new to it or because Cartwright predicted that readers might already know the basics, we were dunked right into the world of Dominance and submission. Albeit, I found the kinkiness in this story is of a much lesser degree than others in the series. For the Sub was a sweeter novel (yet still very erotic).

Though the ending seemed a little rushed, this is another great read by Sierra Cartwright. I can hardly wait for the next book in the series (finally, Damien’s story is coming)!

I would have perhaps liked a little mention of Charles – as we were in Elena’s head to begin with – before he actually appeared. I felt I was getting to know her and then suddenly there was this massive fact of a man she’d been dreaming about for years suddenly jumping onto the page the same time he did. But that’s a minor quibble because Charles’ character was bright and vivid and I soon found myself quite taken with him.

I enjoyed how the author handled her heroine’s wariness of the whole BDSM lifestyle. Hot For Him is only a short story, so there isn’t masses of details and scenes, but what there is works just fine. The writing is competent, the story perfectly satisfying and if you’re looking for a rich guy who likes to introduce girls to the delights of submitting then this might just be the story for you.

The sizzling chemistry between Toni and Jessica made me read this tale twice. Both characters are instantly drawn to one another, and their growing attraction made it hard for me to tear my eyes away from the plot. What made me like them even more was all of the differences between Jessica and Toni that the author points out as their adventures unfolds.

It would have been helpful to have a more thorough explanation of why Jessica initially decides to try the spell given that she doesn’t believe in magic. A novella or novel would have allowed for more time to explore why her mind changed on this issue, but including such information in a short story was a little extraneous due to how quickly Jessica changes her mind on the subject.

Ms. Starke has a very smooth writing style that is a real pleasure to read. She knows how to create snappy, playful dialogue that propels the plot forward, and her descriptions were so vivid that I felt as if I was experiencing this story firsthand. The background information in particular make me wish for a sequel. While I don’t know if the author is planning to revisit these characters I’d be quite interested in hearing more from them in the future.

Captive Pleasures is a good choice for anyone in the mood for a short, hot romp. I would especially recommend it for readers trying to stay warm this cold, lonely winter.

The relationship between Sasha and her best friend, Beth, is the linchpin of this tale. Their conversations create some of the most memorable moments of this piece. They truly seem to know one another extremely well, and I learned quite a bit about both characters by observing how they behave when they’re together.

I had a hard time understanding why Sasha remains in a relationship with a man who has so many negative qualities. Geoff is immature, selfish, and lazy, and he is written in such a way that it’s difficult for me to think of anything positive to say about him. It would have been nice to see the side of him that initially attracted Sasha in order to understand why they’ve remained together for so many years.

The sex scenes are lighthearted and playful. The BDSM elements don’t show up in every encounter, and when they do appear they are fairly tame. I especially enjoyed Sasha’s dreams that occasionally appear in italics before new chapters. They appear just often enough to whet my appetite for what Sasha hopes she will find if her mission is successful.

During the first half of the book I kept wishing I knew more about The Phantom’s origins. What Sasha discovers propels the plot forward, and while I would have liked to learn more I understand why the author made certain decisions about what she did and did not include in this particular subplot. It would be really interesting to read a sequel to this story, though, and I hope Ms. Leveret considers writing it.

The Phantom is a good choice for anyone in the mood for a mixed genre story that is as erotic as it is entertaining.
