They say never share a secret. Sometimes though, it’s the only thing to do.

Jess is looking forward to her night out clubbing with her best friend, but her anticipation turns to dismay when she realises the venue is a BDSM club not the disco she’d envisioned. After a disastrous experience with the lifestyle in her past, she’s adamant she wants nothing to do with it now.

David agreed to pick up his friend’s sister as a favour, and is surprised to find himself instantly attracted to the fiery Jess. The experienced Dom recognises Jess’ bluster for what it is—fear. There is no doubt in his mind that Jess is submissive, but getting her to accept that fact will take some doing.

David is determined to help her, but it is up to Jess to accept. When Jess does give in to her secret desires, can she truly let go and be the sub David is looking for, or will she hold onto her secrets?

At Diomhair you never know what will happen in the end.

I have never yearned for a kiss as much as the one between Jess and David. There is no doubt that Ms. McAllan knows how to build momentum. Furthermore, when the kiss did arrive it was all I had hoped for.

In general, this is how Secrets Shared develops. Little by little, the author unravels bits and pieces of Jess’s dark secret. Every little step made me want to learn more. I wasn’t the only one, David, the hero was also eager for more.

The connection between Jess and David is palpable from the start. Their talk, their banter, the way they act and react around each other is very well written and easily drew me into their heads.

David is my type of favorite hero: handsome, hard-headed, unable to give up, dominant, alpha and yet capable of laughing and enjoying life. Jess is his perfect counterpart: intelligent, beautiful, in control of her world, except when she’s with him. That change in attitude when David is around is what makes their Dom/sub relationship perfect. That, and the way Ms. McAllan describes their attraction and the sizzling sex that promptly ensues.

The story between David and Jess ends happily, but the author expertly delivers one more blow that has enticed me to read the next book in the series.

Secrets Shared is a well written spicy read with love, attraction and a little mystery, that you won’t be able to put down.

Chase and Ryder Freeman have sworn off women, apart from for one singular exception, sex. Meeting Emma they never expected for her to stir those old emotions, the ones they kept buried deep inside. Can these three finally overcome the hurt of their past or will they succumb to it?

Will Emma finally get what she always wanted by claiming her temporary men?

Grace Ryles continues her Grand Oak Springs series with Claiming Her Temporary Men. This book is a scorching hot menage story. I greatly enjoyed it from beginning to end.

As far as the plot goes it was a strong one. It had a great set-up. Chase and Ryder are two brothers who want to settle down with one woman to share. But they’ve been hurt before and aren’t looking to repeat past mistakes. Then into their lives comes sweet submissive Emma and she is exactly the kind of woman they need. They propose a month long fling of sexy times between the three of them. They have an instant attraction so Emma agrees to a no strings fling with the two sexy ranchers. Needless to say that it’s only a game for a little while before deeper feelings are involved for all three lovers. Too bad for them, but good for the reader, there is quite a bit of personal conflict there. A brooding Ryder held onto his reservations about the relationship, while Emma struggled with it on a different level. On the other hand, Chase was more than ready which caused some problems with Ryder. However, the most intense conflict came from the bit of suspense that Ryles threw in for good measure. There you have it ….. Emma is in danger and that’s where things got really interesting.

I will say that the characters had great chemistry. The pages were full of sexy loving that rivalled any I’ve been reading lately. I appreciated that since it’s usually what I’m looking for when picking up a menage story. This one featured some bold BDSM elements. There are plenty of M/F/M scenes, and other treats like anal, spanking and flogging. Still, the bones of the story was the romance part as the relationship turned from instant lust to lasting love.

Another important thing was the strong plot. It was well written, in fact, everything was perfect to me. That includes the lenth of the book, it’s substantial enough, with characters that are fleshed out to let the reader get involved with them and the story. It was fast paced with an easy flow. Lastly, It was an emotional story. I loved these three but they had some serious baggage, and that made the story a more compelling read.

To put it simply, this was a great read for me. I enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next one in the series.

The problem with being whisked away to a new life is that the troubles of the old one almost always travel with you.

There’s something to be said for reworking an old, traditional story for a new generation. I’d never heard of the legend that this one was loosely based on, so I didn’t have any preconceptions about what should happen next. The rewrite worked well, though, and it made me pretty curious to compare it to the original. To me this is a sign of a successful retelling.

I had a lot of trouble understanding the relationship between Talia and Vina. So much of it involved conflict and codependency that it dampened the chemistry I was expecting to find between them. Both characters were really interesting as individuals, but they didn’t work so together at all as a couple. It was hard to see why they were attracted to one another. Including more information about how they met and what they like about each other would have helped me understand why they’re a good match.

It took a while to fill in the gaps about when and where everything took place. During the first several chapters I wondered if it had a contemporary setting based on what certain characters said, but after a while I figured out that it does seem to take place in the past. What surprised me about this is that it actually works well with the overall dreamlike quality of the plot. Different sections were just as ambiguous about other topics, so leaving it up to the reader to discover these things was a smart move.

Taliasman is a good choice for fairy tale enthusiasts.

The battle for dominance threatens to drive them apart, and so does Sue’s pride as she decides whether she is ready to kneel to a man after many years on top.

I adore this series, and this is another unique and strong addition to the series. I’ve met Mistress Sue in previous books, but this time, this time it’s different because she meets a man who makes her want to submit at his feet.

Sue, has always been very much into the props that come with dominating men, while Dane is more into just into embracing the primal side. I liked this contrast of styles, and watching them have to work at finding a middle ground.

The only con was that I was used to Sue being this Mistress and watching her becoming a sub was a bit strange. I do feel like the author handled this pretty well, and a reader who picked up this book up as a first time read by Ms. Yssel wouldn’t have this same issue. This book can definitely be read as a stand alone.

I enjoyed being back on Bondage Ranch, and I do hope there are more stories set here in the future. The author is great at writing quick and light hearted BDSM, and I enjoy her skill with novella length stories that still have an emotional punch.

Billy and Montana are enjoying a party to celebrating the one year wedding anniversary of friends when marriage comes into the conversation. Billy is surprised to find that Montana doesn’t believe Billy wants to marry him. Such a surprising revelation leads to a deep and meaningful conversation between the two men, where they both are honest and discover new things about each other.

I really enjoyed how while Billy and Montana are in a committed, stable relationship, this shows that even the healthiest of relationships need work and constant vigilance. With the author showing the depth and communication needed to keep a relationship on an even keel, I found myself immersed in Billy’s commitment and thoughts. The sex was smoking hot and kinky enough to make me blush. Not for the faint of heart, but I really felt as if the love behind it all make it seem gentler, not as harsh as some other writers might have made it.

Once I realised what the title “put a ring on it” symbolized I had to laugh and laugh. I refuse to spoil the surprise, but I can’t help but feel it’s one of those titles where now, every time I hear the fairly common phrase this is what I will think back to. I’ve read a number of Sean Michael’s stories and he never fails to make me laugh, gasp and squirm. I find him an excellent author and always well worth the read. Recommended.

In the aftermath of a plague which brought civilization to its knees and left most of the world’s female population sterile, the few women who remain fertile have become a precious commodity. This book is listed as a dark read, and it is, but not too dark. A Dystopian world that is a bit warped where the natural order of things are not so natural. The upper class can’t seem to produce offspring, and they have a prevalent need for breeders.

I would think that in having the need for something, it would make someone treat it better. Not so much in this case. The breeders are treated worse than animals but yet without them… extinction of their race could be a real possibility.

In the outer rim of the colony it looks like breeding isn’t an issue, they have a decent way of life. But it’s also where the fight for food and medical supplies is constant. A leader of the village is given an offer he will be hard pressed not to accept. Rowan is a new and young breeder, something she always knew she would be. She’s horrified at the thought of being made to leave the colony to breed with a savage.

Ms. Knight sets the scene and builds the tension to the point of being harsh and extreme. Readers who don’t enjoy feeling anxious for the characters might struggle with this one. On the other hand, for readers who want to be transported into the darkness, this is spot on.

Some parts were intense… the exams were humiliating but did just what they were intended to do, keep Rowan, and some extent the reader, off balance and down. But then Rowan thinks of rebelling against what was happening to her but her body seemed to crave and respond.

Silas worked hard at trying to keep detached, his feelings in check. All that was important was the safety of his family and people. Or so he kept telling himself. Since this is romance, I wanted (needed) to like Silas and his reasons for being a part of this. Ms. Knight gives him likability and even though it’s unconventional, the romance is believable.

This was a second book I’ve had the pleasure in reading from this author and I really enjoy her writing. This book was a decent length and so far seemed a stand-alone, which I love. It is a bit dark, a bit edgy and sci-fi to a point. I’d recommend it as a good read for those who look for gritty and not so neatly wrapped romance.

What would you do if the man you loved had a double?

That’s the challenge Elyse faces when a flying carpet lands her and her new djinn lover in the glorious city he calls home. Cade’s people need help recovering from a curse, but this isn’t the only problem they’ll have to fix. Cade’s trip to Elyse’s world created a duplicate of himself, a not-quite carbon copy who firmly believes he’s Cade’s superior.

The most fascinating aspect of this second story of the Djinn is the argument of nature versus nurture, of exploring how experiences in life shape a person and change them from who they are to who they could be. I realize the focus of The Double is on the continued romance between, Elyse and Cade, and now, Arcadius, but I couldn’t stop being fascinated by the differences and similarities between the two men who used to be one man.

The crux of Elyse’s relationship with Cade is trying to resist being interested in Arcadius too. Personally, I couldn’t see how she could realistically expect to be unaffected by the man. He is as Cade was when she first met him. There was something about him then, so Arcadius is like a condensed, purer form of Cade’s former self. Sound confusing? Guess that means this isn’t a standalone read. A reader really needs to read the first book to understand not only what I’m talking about in this review but to also understand the ramifications of the guy with the black tattoos. Very cool stuff.

Joseph’s character, although secondary, is a strong and pivotal plot stirrer. He isn’t what he used to be but he’s much, much better in some aspects. That creates new problems for him that only in this book was I able to understand just what is now at stake for him. It will be very interesting to see what happens next. His sub-story is just as fascinating and complex as the primary plot. And yet, he compliments Elyse and Cade extremely well.

The problem of one or two men to the one woman notwithstanding, The Double also provides a reader with a devious villain with a suspenseful plot that is nasty in nature. In the process of the heroine and heroes trying to solve the mystery before more people die, I learned some more facts about Elyse’s childhood. That cousin of hers was a harridan in the making, a dastardly twisted and self-centered little snot even back then who only got worse as she grew up. How much of that was nature and how much was nurture? With the father she had I’m of the mind that she had the worst of both and, I’m thinking she was doomed to be a prideful, evil, depraved woman. I think she got what she deserved but only time and Ms. Holly knows for sure.

As for the sex in this book, Ms. Holly pulled out all the stops and let the lust fly. Erotic romance readers should be plenty satisfied with the scope, the titillating complexity and the amount of sexy encounters between Elyse, Cade and eventually Arcadius too. There are emotional landmines to navigate, some of which are very unique to this particular book because of the split man/men. It’s a fascinating scenario but plenty hot too.

I remember the cliff hanger from the first book with regards to Elyse’s dad. I’m glad that was explored and explained in this novel. I liked his character. I also find interesting the author’s twisting of faith and religion between a fantasy world and the contemporary world. A few sentences in this tale were a bit hard for me to swallow, but it is a fantasy and fiction so I can’t begrudge an author exploring alternative scenarios to fit her fantastical characters.

Yasmin and Balu were introduced in this tale and they added to the plot conflict on various levels. I suspect that readers will see more of them in a future story. As for this novel, the happy ever after for Elyse and her men is getting closer. There were definite steps taken to make me believe it will happen soon, but Ms. Holly is a masterful storyteller so I’ll wait and see what happens next. There are still some missing people that have to be accounted for, one of which is the insane female who caused the entire ruckus in the first place. This series is addictive.

The Double should not be missed by anyone who read the first book, The Guardian. If fans thought that one was exciting, this one bumped it up a notch. There is a pivotal scene with a special book that almost turns the tide in a different and expected direction. I was biting my nails at that part. But Ms. Holly knows her readers and I am thrilled she chose what she did as the outcome. I’m a happy reader. I would definitely recommend this novel to everyone who read The Guardian but caution new readers – there will be parts that won’t make sense unless the first book is read. It’s worth checking out so they can get the full WOW factor of this one.

Fortune Cookies Are Better In Bed: Evan is unpacking the Chinese takeout he’s about to share with his work and life partner, John. Dealing every day with the “weird” – vampires, werewolves and the like – makes it difficult to explain things like budget expenditures to the Powers That Be. Still, the two men enjoy their work and wouldn’t have it any other way. What initially starts out as a bit of playful, dominating fun turns into a potentially embarrassing scenario as both men are taken by surprise.

Fun and lighthearted, I found this to be a laugh-out-loud funny story with a sexy, deeply satisfying ending.

Chinese Fire Drill: John and Evan are late picking up their third lover – Gabrielle. Stuck in traffic, Evan and John start by celebrating the end of a long week with a bang. When Gabrielle gets into it, heat explodes between them all.

A smoking hot read that will definitely have me distracted next time I’m stuck in traffic!

Naughty: Mandatory Fun: At a schmoozing party full of various government agencies, Gabrielle, John and Evan try to inject a bit of fun into the annual affair. Dodging frosty ex-lovers and networking with colleagues, it’s a party with many undercurrents – most of the them intriguingly sexy. Finishing the night with Brie, the foursome thoroughly enjoy their night of “Mandatory Fun”.

This is a great collection of seriously sexy stories. Due to the short length I found myself sometimes falling behind, trying to catch up to the various changes in dynamic between the relationships. I’d have enjoyed a little more depth to some of the explanations of the boundaries and settings of John and Evan’s relationship, but this didn’t lessen my enjoyment of their antics. While John and Evan are the main pairing, they have a committed threesome with Gabrielle and all three of them are open to the other possibilities.

Smoking hot, this is a fun, humorous group of stories that I really enjoyed. Recommended.

This is a fun, fast paced short story that I really enjoyed. Even though the plot is fairly straightforward – PA lusts after boss, who returns that regard and they hook up after a long period of desiring each other – I still found this to be fairly fresh. Both men move very quickly with each other once they confess their desire. Some readers might have liked a bit more foreplay to drag the tension and chemistry, but I found myself caught up in Martin and Byron’s longing. They’d both already waited so long, why continue to deny themselves?

The sex is smoking hot. I enjoyed the slight hint of BDSM and would have really liked a bit more depth to this side of their blossoming relationship. While there was talk of various BDSM elements they never actually got there “on screen”. The sex was hot and descriptive, and I enjoyed it, but think after their talking I would have found more satisfaction had it been darker, or less rushed – more how they talked to each other and built their desire up. The happy ending was, however, delightful and made my romantic side sigh with happiness. A good, short story that I greatly enjoyed.

Their love may be seen as sinful by some but the men truly love each other and that love will not be denied.

With well rounded characters and a good storyline H. C. Brown does a good job of bringing the reader into Alano and Degare’s story. I enjoyed my visit to this world and found the story flying by and over before I even realized it.
