Devon and Swan care deeply for each other and are willing to give becoming something more a try and the Briar Rose seems like the perfect place to give it a go. As neutral ground, if things go wrong, they should be able to put the whole thing behind them and go back to their lives as simply friends.

Can Devon, Peter, Swan, and Max become the blended family they yearn to be?

Devon and Peter, and Max and Swan were all happy in their pairings, their respective commitments. But Peter and Max had really thought they could make something special with all four of them together as a single unit. Matt and Adam run the Briar Rose together, and Adam has agreed that they’d help two couples spend a week and see if they could become a foursome. When it came to the crunch time, however, nerves abound for all of them. Can Devon, Peter, Max and Swan really make this work, blend their two families and make good, solid friendships something far deeper and more meaningful?

This is a smoking hot story, packed full of delightful, kinky sex and two really stunning relationship coming together as one. I really loved seeing the two main couples together first, finding their chemistry and having them set the tone. Then watching them come together as a foursome – with all the discussions, emotions and complexities that brought. I loved how nothing was really glossed over, at least not to my mind. Everyone’s goals were discussed, worries, what each of them wanted to achieve. Secrets were bared and honesty was integral to the blending process. This really read to me as how two groups of friends could enter into a foursome in a real way, deepen an intimate relationship and make something so highly complex work for all involved.

I loved how there was tons of sex – but more importantly there was strong love and a connection behind it all. At no stage did I feel like various characters were simply pairing off – or swapping over – to complete a check list of whom had been with whom. The author has done an amazing job of keeping the flow natural and wickedly logical. Each scene followed smoothly from the last, and the characters exploring and refining their relationships and boundaries was a delight to watch unfold.

I really enjoyed this book. Great sex, loving and interesting characters mingled in with an emotional and highly sensitive plotline have melded together for a wonderful book. I greedily devoured the entire novel in one sitting and am looking forward to immediately jumping back into it to catch all those small things one invariably misses upon first reading. A loving and emotional book that’s gone directly onto my keeper shelf. Highly recommended.

SWAT officer, Cole, can handle just about anything, until he rescues Brett—a man who makes him question all he’s ever believed about love.

As a member of the Las Vegas Police Department’s SWAT team, Cole has seen his fair share of danger, but he’s never taken a chance on love. He’s willing to have some fun when the mood strikes him, but he’s married to the job. Called in on a hostage situation, Cole is prepared for anything and everything…except for the brave and beautiful Brett.

Brett has been burned before, most recently by Officer Parker McLean. He’s hoping to settle down in Vegas, perhaps find someone he can build a life with. The last thing Brett’s looking for is another man in uniform. But when he meets Cole, there’s an attraction that can’t be denied. Still, he hadn’t expected to fall for the chiseled alpha.

What begins as nothing more than two people experiencing a great night together spirals into something far deeper. But will Brett be able to handle the stress that comes with having a lover who constantly puts his life in jeopardy? And can Cole risk his heart on an everyday hero, or will the job he knows so well remain his top priority?

As a member of the SWAT team for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Cole Silva has seen and done it all. He’s taken chances and risked everything – everything, that is, but his heart. So when he’s called to a hostage situation at the Fashion Show Mall on the Las Vegas Strip, he winds up with more than he bargained for in the form of Brett Langevin. Cole knows he can save Brett, but can he save himself from Brett’s charms?

Having remembered Brett from his brief appearance in Copping an Attitude, I was looking forward to getting to know him better. Parker, from book two, had liked Brett, but not enough to have had a committed relationship with him, and that always intrigues me. As it turns out, he’s probably the most normal, stable heroes in any of the Sin City Uniform books so far. Now, that’s not a bad thing either. I love a good boy-next-door sort of guy, especially when he’s paired with someone as unconventional as Cole. By the end of the book it was official – Brett is my favorite guy out of all the previous books to date. His character moves from indecisive and eager to please (even at the expense of his own happiness) to someone willing to make his own choices and mistakes. It was an experience watching him grow comfortable in his own skin.

Cole, on the other hand, I wasn’t so familiar with. It was mentioned that he appeared in the previous book, Justice Prevails, but I don’t remember him. His role was small, but the author is really good at introducing someone in an earlier book and bringing them around for their own story later, which is really what makes this series so addicting to me. Just when you think you’ve met everyone, there’s always someone else sneaking in the side door. Cole is definitely a harder, more difficult character to get to know. Ex-military as well as a current member of SWAT, he’s intense, focused, and pretty closed off emotionally. Because of this, he ticks me off a few times during the course of the story, but not enough to make me stop reading. His actions are expected to a point, but still ruffled my feathers a bit. Mostly because I was already partial to Brett in a lot of ways.

Held Hostage is, for me, the best book in this series to date. There are a couple of problematic areas, like the lack of actual help for Brett after he was held hostage, but within the confines of a short novella, I know that things do sometimes get left on the cutting board. That said the hostage situation itself is well done and intensely written, really drawing you in and holding your attention. I felt like there were moments where Cole was a jerk for no reason, but in retrospect, those times actually forced Brett to push past his insecurities and have necessary character growth. With each installment getting better and better, I’m anxious to see what Ms. Knight has in store for us with the next in this series.

Not all cages have bars.

The Wyverns Motorcycle Club has a reputation as fierce as its dragon emblem. Its enigmatic leader, Rogue Hellaby, has a police file so thick you could prop up a table with it. The qualifications for membership are a reckless disregard for authority and the attitude of a spitting cobra. But The Wyverns MC is not quite what it seems. All the riders have dubious histories in the military or the police—now they just serve and protect their own interests and those of Horatio Trap, the manipulative bastard who recruited them.

When Rogue receives an instruction to kidnap and hold hostage the son of a powerful drug lord, he doesn’t bat an eyelid. But Rogue has never had to deal with a captive like Orlando de la Pena. Orlando is furious—not because he’s being held prisoner, but because he’s prevented from partying at his favourite BDSM club. Rogue discovers that the only way to deal with Orlando is to become the Dom he so obviously needs. But Orlando’s father wants him back, and The Wyverns must face a battle that could cost them their lives.

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of mild BDSM.

Clear Blue Sky by Jenna Byrnes

Sky needs to leave Kansas and his abusive ex, Duke, behind. In Colorado, he ends up working at a bike shop where he meets Task, a member of the Rebel Riders. Sparks fly from the start, and an affair begins. But Duke wants Sky back, so he joins a rival motorcycle club, the Demon Outlaws, and starts picking fights with the Rebel Riders. A confrontation between the two clubs and the three men is inevitable.

The portrayal of Sky’s past abuse as the vivid memories haunt him, even to his nightmares, is shown rather well. These invisible and visible scars are carried for life. Nonetheless, Sky wants to put the past behind him and escape the bonds of violence that keep him from trusting people. Yet he wants to take the plunge and open up again. This complex characterization gave him believable depth, the mix of vulnerability and strength a compelling one.

Despite the hot-and-heavy moments between Sky and Task, there’s an underlying focus on talking things through about topics like honesty and trust. Those conversations gave these two men a reality check and added depth, since in essence this has that insta-love thing going on, so realism and depth were needed. Then again, this is a short story.

Task is the perfect bad-ass biker, tough and sharp on the outside, gentle and sweet on the inside. This tale is a mix of dialogue about learning to love again, action and suspense, and pure smoking hot sex. The balance between all these aspects is accomplished through a well-written story, and I highly recommend this.

Rogue is a member of the Wyverns Motorcycle club. His criminal record is extensive, and the club members are no strangers to crime. The club’s leader orders Rogue to kidnap Orlando, the son of a drug lord. But Orlando is feisty and unyielding. Rogue learns the only way to keep the kid down is by tying him up, BDSM style, and fuck the impudence right out of him.

This story was nothing like what I expected from the blurb. For one, the motorcycle club consists of gay guys who are actually trying to fix their past mistakes. Also, the leader of the club, Trap, is blackmailing the guys into doing jobs for him. Still, at the end of this quirky tale, we don’t get to know a lot about Orlando’s dad (his fate is a bit out there) or the mysterious Trap. So don’t go expecting everything to get tied up into a pretty little bow at the end.

As for Rogue and Orlando. Their interaction, in every sense, were the best parts of the story. Orlando is submissive but also a subtle, smart manipulator, definitely topping from the bottom. But Rogue sees through his shenanigans, which gives way to humor and funny moments, as both men try to gain the upper hand of the situation. And the kidnapping hadn’t actually even started yet!

Naturally, there’s a hailstorm of bullets toward the end and action-packed scenes. Overall, though, this tale delivers a wonderful complex dynamic of two people who find a true connection in a bad situation. The BDSM is mild but gives enough flare for drama and a background through which the main characters can work on their, um… frustrations. Not a bad story at all.

Biking Bad by Morticia Knight

Zero belongs to the Mojave Sidewinders, a gay MC club, and he knows how to take care of himself. Dylan is a wanna-be private eye who is searching for a missing young man and goes into Road Rage, the Sidewinders’ bar, all gung-ho, asking questions. Thankfully he’s saved from a beating by Zero. Their attraction is swift and burning hot, even though Dylan’s a virgin and Zero harbors secrets of his own.

Though at first Dylan and Zero seem like polar opposites, they have in fact a lot in common. Their pasts are rough, their lives hard and lonely, and they both have insecurity issues, they just deal with them differently. These similarities allow them to form a bond quickly, even though the risks in doing so exist. I thought their romance was sweet and and nice, and they’re both amiable, good men. Sure, at first Zero acts like a total jerk, but his tough exterior hides a heart of gold. And Dylan’s feistiness, despite his small stature, gets a thumbs-up from me.

Zero’s connection to the missing youth puts him in a position where he must decide which is more important: his MC club or Dylan. Another biker named Grim is the villain of the story, and his threats force Zero to choose sides. Illegal acitivies, guns ablazing, bar fights–this story’s got it all. The plotlines got a little confusing at times, so in that sense this was the weakest of the three stories. Nonetheless, well worth the read.

For each hand, she must reveal a bit about herself. And for each hand she wins, he’ll answer any question she asks. Joe has always had an interest in the little witch. She defies his expectations and surprises at every turn. The stakes are sky-high, for both of them. But on Halloween, the most powerful night of the year, which one will be the winner?

Bridget and Joe seem to have a magnetic pull towards each other, and it has nothing to do with the fact that she is a witch and he is a vampire. Hopefully, they can still manage to get some work done, since their lives may depend on it.

Bridget is a strong and capable women which is clear to me from the beginning. She has her things together, and has avoided Joe cause he can distract her in ways no man ever could. I absolutely adore this inner strength of hers, and so does Joe. This latest job however leaves her spinning in more ways than one, and she needs to keep it together if she wants to protect herself and the ones she love.

Joe comes off as your typical cocky vampire, yet there is more than what meets the eye with him. He seems to really have soft spot for Bridget which I like. I would have loved to have seen a bit more of a protective vampire instinct in him however. He clearly cares for those around him, and as the leader in the vampire community for that area I just felt he should have been more furious. He certainly seemed to have the ability to take control of Bridget in the bedroom, and care for her once they were done which left me smiling.

All-in-all I enjoyed the story. The plotline keep the story going. I did not even realize it was as long as it was, since it read so easily. I would definitely recommend it to someone, especially if the witch and vampire relationship intrigues you the way it did me. Not often you see these two unlikely creatures to get involved with each other which I appreciated. Add to it the antagonistic conflict and you got yourself a winner. I look forward to reaching a future installment of the Flush and Fevered Series.

Rumors had circulated for years in the Lexington area about horse breeders Brett, Colin and Donovan McGilley, especially about the activities that went on above their popular night club, Casey’s. Kayla Holden was at Casey’s to celebrate her twenty-sixth birthday and in the mood to do something wild and crazy and what could be wilder and crazier than enticing sexy, older Brett McGilley into inviting her upstairs for an up close and personal look at the sexual activities she had heard so much about. Even though Brett was attracted to Kayla, his taste for spanking and exhibitionism was not for someone so young and inexperienced. But Brett had no idea just how determined Kayla was to not only explore his sexual kinks, but to do so only with him.

Colin McGilley had fallen for his best friend’s wife, Olivia Hammond, the moment he met her and when Doug asked him to help gift her with a ménage on her birthday, he couldn’t resist. The next three years, Colin carried the guilt of Doug’s sudden death that next day while Olivia struggled with grief. But Olivia’s need to find another Master to give her what she so badly craved sent her to Colin, this time asking more from him than friendship.

Donovan McGilley has struggled with his quick temper ever since his rescue from the Iraqi’s seven years ago, his worry over preferring rough sex keeping him from seeking a relationship outside of the few women who liked sex hard and usually with two men at their private club. But when veterinarian, Anna Kingston saves one of his beloved mares and he see signs of abuse on her body, he simply couldn’t turn her down when she approaches him to explore the sexual fantasies that had led to ending her marriage.

The story is a very cleverly written in the way that it tells the love story of the three brothers all in a single book. It took some time for the main plot to really develop but then it takes center stage in the third brother, Donovan’s, story. This trilogy had a little bit of a suspense feel to it but not enough to be categorized as one.

All three brothers are different in style and what they like, though their love for horses is one thing that is common between them. Each brothers has their own conflict to resolve within the book.

Brett is attracted to a woman half his age. But with a failed marriage under his belt he does not want subject an ‘innocent’ to his brand of kink or sex. However, Kayla is not willing to take no for an answer.

Colin is a Dom who is in love with his departed best friend’s wife who happens to be be a submissive. After years mourning for her husband and Dom she wants to get back into the scene. She wants a Dom. But not just any Dom, she wants Colin. But Colin has guilt that could break apart their relationship and Olivia as well. Colin’s relationship with Olivia was at first complicated to understand. His guilt over something that happened was understandable but it conflicted with his desire for Olivia. It was obvious early on to this reader how he truly felt about Olivia, even though she couldn’t see it. Not at first. It was wonderful to see their relationship evolve from acquaintances to lovers

When Donovan meets red-headed vet Anna, he knows that Anna has suffered abuse. He also feels something for her that he thought he never could. Together they learn to live and love. It was enlightening to see Donovan help Anna get over the abuse. Their relationship was fiery from the first scene. Donovan likes a lot harder sex than what a lot of females are willing to give. But in Anna he finds compatible in every possible way imaginable.

All three of these couples are so different but their chemistry was hot and spicy readers who enjoy a little more hardcore erotic romance should definitely give The McGilley Trilogy a read.

This sexy Englishman holds the key to her most secret and sensual desires, dangerous yearnings she’s kept locked away for years. Now she has a choice to make.

Ethan is only in Marrakesh for a few days, then he’ll be gone and she’ll never see him again. No one will ever know, so surely it will do no harm? Can she pass up this opportunity? And once she’s trusted him with her body, experienced all he can offer, will she be able to return to her old life? Or will the sensual chameleon need to reinvent herself once again to fit into his world?

An incident brought two people together from completely different lives, cultures and countries.

Set in Marrakesh, Morocco, Chameleon depicts a story about a woman and how she learns to love her submissive side. Fleur’s first marriage showed her a side of humanity that left her doubting herself and her needs but a meeting with tourist in the Marrakesh desert opens her life and allows her to heal. Fleur’s previous marriage left her body black and blue and her soul just as bruised.

Ethan Savage’s knows the first impression of what you see may not always be what you get. Ethan is a mining engineer and a Dom. He can normally pick out a submissive when he sees one but he never thought he’d see one in Marrakesh.

Ethan and Fleur’s relationship is based on trust. And that I think it’s one of the best thing about this story. Their relationship is sizzling, erotic and a passion that could burn the pages of my e-reader. Chameleon contains heavy BDSM play. Beginning readers to this genre should be aware that Ethan is serious about his role as a Dom. Pain and passion go hand in hand in this book.

That being said I also think that Chameleon is a great Contemporary Romance with BDSM as a major theme but the romance is there as well. The romantic aspect of this book is slow going but totally worth it at the end.

At the age of 11, Ana Villarreal suffered from unexplained blindness for over a week. During this time, a young man crept into her room, kissed her, and whispered words in her ear that sent a chill down her spine. Twelve years later, Ana is living in New York City, the youngest manager at her company, but work is all she has. She rushes home at night and locks herself in, afraid he is still out there, somewhere, looking for her.

Until she meets Damien through the company’s online help chat, and, eventually, asks him to call her. At first, he refuses to meet in person, claiming he’s a disfigured recluse who rarely leaves his house. When he finally allows Ana to visit him, she suspects the black surgical mask he wears to cover his “disfigurement” is a farce, but, still, she becomes obsessed with him. Even though she’s not allowed to see his face. Even though she must confront her fear of total darkness to be with him. Even though, in a moment of passion, he utters a sentence almost exactly like the one she heard in her bedroom 12 years ago.

Our instinct is to always protect ourselves from harm, even if those hurts are purely of the soul.

I was very skeptical when I read the synopsis. Now, I can say for sure that this novel is not for the faint of heart. Readers who enjoy erotic romance, but don’t enjoy extreme and dark erotic, will likely not enjoy this one. In the Dark mostly certainly qualifies as a dark erotic novel with an added mystery and suspense. The mystery and suspense is more about the past but it influences the present.

Ana’s past has never really left or rather she hasn’t been able to let go of it. She has a successful professional life. Even if certain aspects of her profession are affected by her past, she’s been able to build a successful career. Her personal life is a whole other matter.

Damien had a rough life thanks to his crazy mother. He is a self-proclaimed hermit because of a disfigurement that occurred when he was a child. He never goes out, but because of his intelligence he has money and time. He can do anything he wants. It made it a little unbelievable for me that in all these years he never really went anywhere. But being an only child may have made it a lot easier to feel comfortable without needing companionship.

Damien and Ana’s past made them who they are and it’s also what makes them a great couple. They understand each other a lot better than anyone else would have. Damien’s disfigurement makes him a lover of the safety that the darkness provides while Ana’s encounter with a stranger as a child, makes her fear the darkness and what it holds.

Ms. Sinclair did a great job with the plot. But I think the characters are not that easy to understand. For example, Damien is very, very adamant that Ana will hate him and even be repulsed with him when she sees his face. It became a little repetitious. Likewise, when Ana was asked about what else happened with her when she was a child, she was adamant that nothing happened. Her denial of what triggered her issues with the dark was a little over the top. It was refreshing when she finally admits to the reason behind her very legitimate fears.

Ana and Damien’s relationship started out through online chatting. I think that played a big part in not only getting them together but also in their trust with each other. They had time to bond outside of their ‘normal’ world. The mystery and suspense had me hooked right until the end.

Gunther Duchene aka “Gunny” and Macalister Jones aka “Mac” have overcome the obstacles of coming out and retiring from serving more than twenty years as Marines. Their exit ceremony is behind them, their wedding vows are made, and now it’s time for the honeymoon. What better way to kick off their marriage than enjoying the retirement gift Mac gave Gunny? With the leather pants and collar packed, it’s off to New York City and the Guards of Folsom club to celebrate—BDSM style.

Gunny has expressed to his husband, Mac, his desire to explore some leather fetish clubs. Obligingly, Mac buys Gunny some leather pants, a leather shirt and a gorgeous leather collar. Mac doesn’t want there to be any confusion who his lover belongs to. A work opportunity lets both men go to DC, so Mac decides it’s high time he and Gunny finally took their honeymoon, and New York has a bunch of leather clubs Mac is eager to introduce Gunny to. The two men have seen years of combat together, but now they’re retired, it’s time to focus on each other, and Mac has plenty of plans in that department.

Despite the shorter length of this novel and the solid nature of Mac and Gunny’s relationship, I really enjoyed the new sparks the two men shared. Their love and commitment is clear to see, but seeing Gunny interact with Mac’s parents, and watching how Mac worked to bring Gunny’s leather fantasy to life was almost like seeing new aspects of the two men come together. I also really enjoyed how much of the club was described and explained. Because this is Mac and Gunny’s first time at the club, the descriptions are a lot more detailed and longer than other books I’ve read. This helped me get a really vivid picture in my head and gave the book more depth to me.

A fun, sexy romp of a book, I think this book would appeal to BDSM novices as well as those well used to their kink. There is nothing I found overtly dangerous or envelope pushing to scare off new readers – but still plenty of sizzle and spark between Mac and Gunny to have even the veterans of erotica whet their appetite. Recommended.
