Her love will capture the ultimate treasure—his heart.
Diana Covington is a dutiful daughter with a boring future all mapped out for her. A shipping fortune and lush Jamaican estate that will someday be hers, a husband of her father’s choice. Romance and Caribbean adventure exist only in her dreams, in which the Black Spaniard, El Moreno, plays a starring role.

Until she is kidnapped by the evil pirate Marcus, and her girlish fantasies quickly turn to nightmares.

Alex Rawnsley’s dark Spanish looks makes him the perfect choice to take on the identity of El Moreno. His mission is to bring Marcus to justice, but his heart thirsts for blood. Vengeance for his brother’s murder is within his grasp when Diana’s kidnapping throws a hitch in his strategy.

Snatching her from Marcus’s clutches is easy enough, but what to do with her now? He cannot return her home lest she be taken again. He has no choice but to keep the distracting, innocent beauty aboard his ship. In his cabin. In his bed. The temptation to make her his own grows stronger by the hour…but opening his heart to love may forever close the door on his quest for revenge.

Pirates, damsels in distress, massive ships and tropical islands make the perfect setting for an amazing romance. This story is bursting with action, a beautiful well-to-do woman chased by a less than reputable guy refuses his advances, is kidnapped by one pirate and rescued by another. The sparks fly and romance ensues. Add in an outraged father, pirates with and without honor, a bit of intrigue, a Spanish barmaid, and a hunt for revenge and you have the perfect mix of excitement, romance, and a just plain good story.

The character development in Once a Mistress is good. The plot line is well done, flows nicely and with solid transitions. The settings are descriptive, vivid and accurate and the historical details are well done without any obvious inaccuracies. The book was originally published in 1999 by Avon books and it is a delight to see the book return with a new publisher.

Some stories are classic, they stick with you and sweep you off your feet. The storyline in this book moves smoothly without any wild details or crazy situations. The situations are close to reality and that makes the story all the more believable. You can see yourself on the ships, feel the salty wind and enjoy the romance that goes with being on the high seas and dealing with pirates, and tropical locations. There’s also something special about a girl growing up from the protected child/woman to a strong independent woman willing to fight for love and stand for what she believes in with a tall, dark, handsome man who gives up revenge for love.  Once a Mistress was a book I thoroughly enjoyed.

She thought she had a life—until being hunted shows her she’s never really lived.

Savage Australia, Book 2

Jacqueline Huddart has spent her entire adult life on the run. Not from the law, or even a jealous lover. From herself—and what she is. That strategy works for her until a funeral demands she return to home ground, and her best friend disappears. Finding Delainie means Jackie must confront the truth…and accept the help of a mysterious, sexy-as-sin Texan.

Marshall Rourke isn’t the only one flying under the radar. He’s on an off-the-grid quest to track down a rogue ex-partner who hunts paranormal beings for the joy of the kill. Convincing the unexpectedly feisty Jackie to trust him isn’t easy, but there’s no better way to lure the hunter into the open than to dangle as unique a target as Jackie—the last Tasmanian Tiger shifter in existence.

Trouble is, Marshall hadn’t counted on Jackie’s brutal right cross. Or the fact that her simmering sexuality calls to his inner wolf on every imaginable level. And that the killer is about to use their desire to add them both to his trophy case…

Being hunted is never good. But when you are the last of a species long thought extinct, you will do whatever it takes to survive.

Jackie Huddart is a Tasmanian tiger, or thylacine, the last of her kind. When the evil hunting her takes her best friend captive to lure her in, Jackie meets someone she can’t resist, and neither can her inner animal.

Marshall Rourke is the last of his kind as well, and all his plans to use Jackie to draw his ex-partner, Daevad Einar, out in the open fly out the window when he meets her. But both agree that they must find Delanie before they can deal with what is between them, no matter how hot it gets. What neither realizes is that they are up against a being more evil than either can imagine, one who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. And what he wants is Jackie and Marshall on his wall as trophies. Can Jackie find her friend and stay alive to be with Marshall? Can Marshall come to terms with finding his mate? And just what is Marshall, anyway?

Lexxie Couper has written a fast paced story, filled with danger, action and hot romance. Medications means treatment of the problem, and supplements are enhancers of sexual buy pill viagra health and are not made for treatment or curing any problem. I love the characters in this one, and the local color that Ms. Couper uses to give a feel for her land. Once I started this, I could not put it down. The story pulled me in and had me anxious to see how they beat Daevad Einar, and how they handled the heat building between them as well. The quick buildup of heat between Jackie and Marshall was fantastic, and I loved that, even in the midst of the search for Delanie, the only way they could prevent their inner selves from taking over was a bout of hot and steamy sex to take the edge off.

Jackie is the kind of character I like. She is a strong and determined woman, loyal to her friend, and not afraid to go after the bad guy to save her. I also liked that she was able to recognize her destined mate when he showed up, but was able to set that aside during the search. I loved that it was Jackie who discovered just what Einar was, not Marshall.

Marshall is a terrific hero, although he starts out with an agenda to use Jackie as bait to catch Einar. Once he meets her, his plans fall apart, and I enjoyed how he quickly changes his tactics. He is strong and honest, and feels a lot of guilt over what his ex-partner did, even though it wasn’t his fault.

This is such a wonderful story, rich in emotion and fast paced action. I hope Ms. Couper continues to write in this world for many more books to come. I would love to visit this land down under again, with more of these delicious characters. Yes, Jackie and Marshall find their happy ever after, although it is touch and go for a while. What are Marshall, and Einar, you ask? You’ll have to read this one to find out.

Plagued by slipping grades and a budding criminal record, Mardie’s heading down a path of self-destruction she can’t seem to avoid. Unlike her perfect older brother Michael, who does everything right according to their father, Mardie can’t meet those high expectations. But when she discovers a girls’ boxing club at the gym, Mardie’s drawn in by the fighters’ fearlessness and strength. Having already lost her parents’ trust and shunned by her boyfriend and even her best friend, the ring is the only place left where no one judges her. Angry and hurt by the state of her life, Mardie can’t wait to start throwing punches. But her wise and patient trainer, Kitty, a former boxer who’s coached her share of troubled teen girls in the ring, shows Mardie that boxing isn’t just about fighting—it’s also about strategy and mental discipline—the things that make a fighter into a winner. Mardie begins to apply the lessons she’s learned in the ring to her battles at school and especially at home, where she finds she’s not the only one struggling for acceptance. And, as she trains for her upcoming championship bouts, Mardie hopes to find a way to make her parents proud. Filled with exciting sports action, The Ring is an inspiring story of a girl learning to believe in herself.

The image of a girl in a plain white tank top with a pair of tomato-red boxing gloves trimmed in satiny black–the simple title, The Ring, placed directly in the center of her chest. Simplistic yet somehow provocative; her arms are up, her chin is tucked to her chest, and though you can’t see her eyes, you can perceive her readiness to take on the world.

This was my first impression upon opening Bobbie Pyron’s inspiring and unforgettable coming of age story The Ring, and I’m delighted to report that much like the image that engaged my attention, I couldn’t put this fantastic tale of teen angst, love, forgiveness, acceptance, and learning to believe in yourself while getting comfortable in your own skin, down.

The troubled young woman presented in the beginning of The Ring is not a pretty sight, and at times, you won’t like our misunderstood heroine very much. Mardie isn’t perfect by any stretch. She’s selfish, she’s rude, and she’s hateful to those that love her most. But ultimately, that’s what makes her so real. Because really, what teenager doesn’t strike out at those closest to them in an effort to gain notice?

Are Mardie’s parents really so bad? No. But she truly believes that they are, to the extent that she continually lashes out and makes the entire family miserable. In her quest to eradicate the emptiness that is consuming her, Mardie attempts to drain away the happiness of those around her, even as the guilt of doing so devours her soul. The story isn’t always easy to read, especially when Mardie is at her worst. But there is a beauty in the darkness of the material, and by the end of the first page, I was transfixed.

By peeling off the taint that shrouds Mardie slowly, Ms. Pyron allows us to witness her gut-wrenching decline and consequent rebirth. The bitterness that blankets her is stripped away layer by layer, revealing an insecure girl who is desperate to be loved and praised. It is then that you learn Mardie’s choice of company and thoughtless actions are fueled by her intense desire to belong. In her journey to self-discovery, Mardie introduces the reader to a dazzling and memorable cast of characters. You’ll love Mardie, her parents, her brother, and the exceptional supporting cast that make The Ring so much more than your average uplifting tale. So many individual stories are entwined, and in a six-degree kind of way, come together perfectly at the story’s conclusion. I can’t reveal too much, but as I went into the story blind, I can honestly say I feel that is the best way to experience it.

This is only the beginning of a bright and amazing future in author Bobbie Pryon’s career. The Ring is a definite must read that no one should miss.

Power play…or duel to the death.

Faustin Brothers, Book 3

Mikhail Faustin is the prince of New York. His authority is absolute, his power unquestioned—and his heart is empty. The pain he carries inside leaves him with nothing to offer a mate. When he discovers that Alya Adad is not only his destined bride but also the source of his misery, his fate is sealed. He must claim the woman he despises most. Or die trying.

Alya Adad is the most powerful of her kind born in generations and a prince in her own right. She’s accountable to no man, certainly not to her first lover, Mikhail. Now he has the gall to not only invade her territory, but threaten to take her by force—for a prophecy she doesn’t believe in? She’ll kill him first.

Their battle for the upper hand is no-holds-barred…until she discovers the one thing his pride didn’t want her to know. That she still holds the key to his heart—and his innermost desires. And when a rival vampire clan strikes, letting her guard down is the only way to save him.

Warning: Contains explicit sex and violence, including violence between the hero and heroine. The sexual content includes but is not limited to bondage, blood play, and some rather creative uses for cling wrap. The author and her attorneys caution readers that the use of a taser to resolve relationship issues is a strategy best left in the realm of fiction.

If you like vampires with bite, you’ll love Damned by Blood, a story that manages to offer a unique twist on the paranormal. There is a deep and rich history here, and I enjoyed exploring it. This is the third in the Faustin Brothers series, but you’ll have no problem reading it as a standalone. Just be forewarned, you’ll want to explore the other brothers when you’ve finished with this one!

The hero, Mikhail, is as sexy as he is scary. A force so strong and powerful he is referred to as the Iceman. I enjoyed the battle waged within when he learns that the woman who ruined him years ago is his intended mate. Alya, on the other hand, is a heroine you’ll love to hate. She has her reasons for being so cold and detached, but it will take something other than force to snare her heart. The tension between them is the crux of the story, and takes center stage. But it should be said that this isn’t your average romance. The revulsion and animosity is very real, and the protagonists tear into one another on more than one occasion. That is the very reason the resolution is so important, and in my opinion, works beautifully.

The material itself is well written, and the plot fast-paced. You’ll finish this in one sitting easily. If you like your vampires tortured and your heroes hot, check out Damned by Blood.

Review: Dragon’s Dare

Dragon’s Dare
by Willa Okati

Noah’s watched the dragons for a long, long time now, and he’s not sure what he thinks about them. Are they monsters getting ready to plunder the Earth? Are they planning to help? Are they curious? He doesn’t ever think he’ll get a chance to find out…

…but he’s wrong.

When one of Noah’s fellow soldiers trades him to the dragons, Noah finds himself in the care and keeping of Zacharei, a dragon who’s most definitely only interested in finding out as much as he can about humans.

Specifically, Zacharei wants to know what sex between humans is all about. It’ll be a lesson neither of them ever forgets.

Humans are on the verge of extinction and Noah has been offered up as a sacrifice to the dragons by a so-called friend. The hope is that before they eat him, he can convince the dragons to help protect the humans. A rather daunting responsibility to carry on one person’s shoulders, wouldn’t you say? Tired of fighting the inevitable, Noah accepts his fate and tumbles into the dragons’ dimension. That’s when the fun begins.

Noah has little confidence that he can convince the dragons of anything and that this is basically a suicide mission. But his strong sense of duty compels him; if there is even a minute possibility of success prior to his demise, he will attempt to garner the dragons’ assistance for his dwindling race. Since he finds himself in this predicament, and in his mind death is imminent — and he is resigned to it — he is able to acquire a sense of calm that allows him to interact rationally with the first dragon he encounters on their side of reality. This serenity works well because allows their exchanges to proceed as they do, with curiosity and intrigue rather than the fear and apprehension that might have been expected in Noah’s situation.

The initial conversations between Noah and the dragon, Zacharei, are laced with teasing humor. While they converse, Zacharei is running his tongue over various parts of Noah’s body to see if he might be a tasty treat. Noah is somewhat concerned, but keeps his cool and answers Zacharei’s questions honestly, which is a good thing, since the dragon can smell his emotions, including lies. Zacharei is fascinated by the human and wishes to indulge his innate curiosity about the species. cheapest levitra They are able of giving extraordinary sex to their accomplices. And while walking may help relieve stress, it’s not going to improve ED. “You really need to work up a sweat and get your heart pumping to improve your cardiovascular health,” says Walker. viagra tablets australia I really enjoyed the characterization of Zacharei. He is portrayed as a fun-loving, intelligent being that is always seeking knowledge. His current cognitive — and physical — quest is human mating. He wants to experience it and he wants Noah to help him. The reader know that he has no intention of harming the human, but he uses subtle and witty threats about his ability to eat the man when he seems to object to Zacharei’s suggestions. His strategy works and he gets what he wants, and what he smells is what Noah wants as well. For anyone concerned — Zacharei does not mate with Noah as a dragon; he is a magical creature and transforms into a gorgeous human male. And as with the rest of the tale, there is levity and jesting during the lovemaking scenes which enhanced the lighthearted tone of the romance.

This story is a playful escapade with a creative twist toward the end. I did feel that it ended too abruptly; it did have a logical conclusion, but it would have been more satisfying to have an idea of how the future would look and their role in it. Perhaps a continuation is in the works? The storyline has possibilities for a sequel. I do recommend you try this unique and entertaining story. It promises to please and make you laugh.
