When a sexy veterinarian rescues a brooding attorney, the temperature rises…

Perfectly content saving animals at her clinic in a charming but run-down neighborhood, veterinarian Ellie Blevins slams into new landlord Jackson Kincaid, who plans to turn the local buildings into condos.

Hotshot defense attorney Jackson is intrigued by the feisty Ellie and gives her one month to convince him not to put his gentrification plans into progress. Attraction soon sizzles between them, but when Jackson makes his desires known, Ellie’s vulnerable heart doesn’t know what to think.
It also has a potential for a reversible lesion, which means it can evolve into a order cheap levitra cancer. But it cannot not treat a loss of sexual drive generic levitra online that occurs due to low testosterone hormone levels. Must be excluded canned food, sausages, smoked meat, animal fats, cabbage, dried beans, french fries, spicy foods (pepper, paprika, mustard). buy brand levitra Kamagra contains Sildenafil Citrate, and when it has been absorbed by your body, increases the flow of the blood cialis 25mg & thus, this leads for the restriction on the proper flow of the blood into the male reproductive system and makes it perfect for further use.
She wants to trust the sinfully handsome Jackson, just as he wants to gain her trust, but finding their way to love isn’t easy when her traumatic past and his criminal clients threaten to sabotage their relationship for good.

Can the enchanting veterinarian and the guarded attorney fight the ghosts of the past and build a new future?

“One single month to convince an angry lion not to eat her up?” I don’t normally open a review with a quote from the book but this line was brilliant and I was breathless from Ellie and Jackson’s first encounter. He wants to be her dragon slayer and she heals him in ways he never imagined possible.

My first impression of Ellie Blevins, besides loving that she obviously has a huge heart for animals, is of a feisty, hard working, I’m not afraid to stand up for myself, owner of her dreams. Jackson was used to speaking and seeing people jump through hoops. Ellie didn’t do hoops.

First impression of Jackson Kincaid: he may be all kinds of dark dangerous alpha male but it was going to be a delight to watch Ellie bring him down a notch or three. Not to make him less of man, just less of a jerk and actually more of a man. Ms. Ohlin didn’t disappoint. The fall of Jackson Kincaid was as hot as it was smooth and satisfying.

By the way, Jackson isn’t really a jerk, he just plays one really well when confronted with a beautiful, sassy vet determined to not lose what she loves. It took only a conversation with his best friend and dose of his back story for me to realize I was going to fall in lust with this book hero right along with Ellie. He calls her ‘Babe’ and I felt it right along with her. ‘Babe’ doesn’t work for me in every book. It works really well for Jackson and Ellie’s book.

Readers, this is one of those books. The kind that makes you feel a little swoony when you read it. The story flows well, the characters have well built, pull-at-your-heart-strings background stories, and just the right amount of tension that builds up to some explosive love making. I knew very early on that I would be looking for other books by this author if they all read this well.

Looking for a hot book on a cold night? Salvaging Love is the first in the Rescue Me series and I can see Duggan’s book building to be a wonderful followup.

Why I’m Donating 100% of BENEVOLENT’s Proceeds to Random Acts by Erin A. Jensen – Guest Blog and Giveaway

Why I’m Donating 100% of BENEVOLENT’s Proceeds to Random Acts

In the three years it took me to write my first book, only a handful of people knew about it. When I finished, the thought of actually sharing it with the world was terrifying. What if it was garbage? Thankfully my husband convinced me to send it off to be professionally reviewed.

While most people in my life had no idea I’d written a book, I was quietly gaining a following on Twitter because that’s what the experts say you should do. When a follower asked when Book Two of my series would come out, I thought it was strange since Book One wasn’t out yet. I told her the first book would be out in the fall and I was still writing the second. She said she’d just finished reading Book One, to review it for the Manhattan Book Review, and she loved it so much she couldn’t wait for Book Two. That was the confidence boost I needed to share my first story with the world.

Full of self-doubt as I was back then, part of me couldn’t help fantasizing about my future success, and I always dreamed of donating a portion of what I earned to charity to help make this world a better place.

Three years later, Dream Waters had earned the bronze medal for fantasy fiction in the 2018 Readers’ Favorite Book Awards. It received Honorable Mention for fantasy fiction in the 2018 Writer’s Digest Self-published ebook Awards. My books had hit the top of Amazon’s Bestseller lists on multiple continents, and people came up to me all the time to ask when my next book would be out. But my earnings didn’t quite live up to the fantasy. I couldn’t even afford to quit my day job. So how could I use my gift to help make the world a better place?

I figured that out with the help of a socially awkward television angel. He inspired me to abandon the half-written fourth book in my series to write Benevolent. It all started when I sat down to write after watching an episode of Supernatural one night. I couldn’t get the show’s utterly endearing trench-coat-wearing angel out of my head. When something sticks in my brain like that, there’s usually a story there. Thinking maybe I’d write a future book about angels and demons, I pushed Book Four aside to search the internet and find out whether Castiel was an angel from the Bible. That online search took me down a winding path, to the Lost Books of the Bible and the story of the Watcher angels, then on to the actor who plays Castiel. I discovered Misha Collins is a real-life angel whose childhood experiences—with homelessness and the kindness of strangers—inspired him to become one of the most philanthropic individuals in Hollywood. Random Acts is the charity he co-founded.

My internet search eventually led to YouTube clips from Supernatural conventions. In one of them, Misha said fans often approach the actors at conventions to tell them Supernatural was the only thing that’d kept them going at a time when they thought about ending their life. In response to this, the Supernatural family Crisis Support Network was founded by Random Acts in partnership with other charities the show’s stars are involved with. Random Acts also funds many of the crisis responders’ training. In fact, Random Acts inspires and helps fund acts of kindness, both big and small, all over the world.

At first glance, my story about a Supernatural fan whose guardian angel appears to her in Castiel’s likeness—told from the main character’s deathbed perspective—weaves together lots of unrelated elements. So, let me connect the dots.

My angel research led to a website that said guardian angels are most active at the time of death, where they work to procure a peaceful death. This resonated with me because I’d sat at my grandfather’s bedside and held his hand while he took his last breath. That’s why I chose to tell the story from Abigail’s point-of-view at the end of her life, as she revisits the major moments. Those end-of-life scenes in Benevolent are heavily based on my experiences during my grandfather’s final days.

The fangirl element of the book was inspired by Misha’s story about Supernatural giving struggling souls something to hang onto. That resonated with me because television was my means of escape during a painful part of my young life.

Readers from all different stages of life have reached out to tell me how much they related to Benevolent’s main character. Younger readers see themselves in young Abigail, who felt isolated because she was bullied at school and took solace in watching Supernatural. Other readers saw themselves in Abigail as a young woman who made a few bad choices, because they’d taken a few questionable turns in their lives. Then there was the feedback I hadn’t expected from readers who’d lost a loved one. Two of them actually read Benevolent while a loved one was on hospice, and they said the story brought them a great deal of comfort. I can’t imagine any better compliment for my story to receive.

Although parts of Benevolent might bring readers to tears, the overall message is an uplifting celebration of life and kindness. Throughout the story, Abigail’s guardian angel assures her that she is precious and encourages her to seize every opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.

As the idea for this story formed in my mind, I realized this book was my opportunity to make a difference in the world. So I took a year off from my Dream Waters series to write Benevolent, knowing I wanted to donate every penny of its proceeds to Random Acts. It seemed fitting, since the charity’s founder had inspired me to push everything aside and do my part to make this world a better place.

A story about the purpose of life, the healing power of fandom, and the resilience of the human spirit.

Tormented by the in-crowd at school on a daily basis, there were two things that gave fifteen-year-old Abigail Perkins the strength to keep going—her best friend, Danny Cobb; and her favorite television show, Supernatural. But the night Danny’s mother calls to say that his battle with cancer is nearing its end, and the doctors don’t expect him to live through the night, even Supernatural can’t dull the ache in her heart.

Devastated by her impending loss and crushed that Danny’s mother won’t allow her to visit him one last time, Abigail crawls into bed and cries herself to sleep that night; and she wakes to find Supernatural’s most endearing angel standing at the foot of her bed.

Told from Abigail’s perspective as she nears the end of her long life and revisits the moments that defined it, this story was inspired by the deep connection that Supernatural fans feel with the show’s beloved characters, and the show’s miraculous ability to help its fans through troubled times.

I shuffled across the room with a heavy heart, crawled into bed and cried myself to sleep, aching in the knowledge that I’d most likely wake in a world that my friend no longer inhabited.

That was the first night that he ever came to me in a dream.

“Would you like to say your goodbyes now, Abigail?” a male voice inquired from the foot of my bed.

A deep male voice—rousing me from sleep in the middle of the night—probably should’ve terrified me, but it didn’t because this man’s voice was a familiar comfort.

I sat up and rubbed the sleep from my eyes, which was pointless since I was obviously still dreaming. There at the foot of my bed, stood my favorite television angel, dressed in a button-down shirt, crooked necktie, and that iconic trench coat of his. He was beautiful, flawless bone structure, stylishly mussed-up hair, and piercing blue eyes that looked far too wise to belong to this man at the peak of physical perfection.

I blinked my eyes a few times to reboot my senses, but he still stood there waiting for an answer. “Castiel?” I muttered in a groggy whisper, “Am I dreaming?”

He smiled at me with more compassion than I’d ever witnessed in any human set of eyes. “Yes. You are, but that doesn’t make this any less real.”

“I’ve lost my mind,” I muttered as my eyes filled with tears. “My best friend is dying and I’m sitting on my bed, talking to a fictional angel.”

His brilliant blue eyes brimmed with sorrow as he shook his head. “You are talking to a real angel. I chose this form because the fictional angel is a comfort to you.”

I blinked my eyes a few more times, expecting him to be gone each time my eyelids lifted. “What?”

His apologetic frown did nothing to detract from his beauty. “There isn’t much time to explain, Abigail. Danny is not long for this world, and I know how much he means to you. His mother is wrong to deny you the opportunity to say goodbye.”

“How would we get there?” I muttered, ignoring the way my heart ached at the angel’s words. If I focused on that pain, I would fall apart, this dream would morph into something nightmarish, and I’d lose this imaginary chance to see my friend one last time. “I’m pretty sure I’m not allowed to leave the house with strange men who slip into my bedroom in the middle of the night.”

“I’m not a man,” he whispered as he touched a hand to my foot.

The instant he touched me, my room melted away and I found myself sitting on Danny’s hospital bed.

My eyes filled with tears at the sight of all the tubes and wires connected to my friend’s brittle body. I looked up and felt comforted by the angel’s presence.

“He can hear you,” the angel standing beside the bed whispered.

“Danny,” I croaked as I slid closer to him, “it’s me, Abigail.”

Top Ten Tuesday: Books On My Summer 2019 TBR

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

There are so many interesting books coming out this summer. How many of you are also hoping to read these titles? This week I decided to only count books that will be published this summer. If no release date is noted, that book has already been released.

1. In West Mills by De’Shawn Charles Winslow

The blurb said this was a good read for people who liked The Twelve Tribes of Hattie. Since I’m one of those folks, I’m hoping this tale about a possibly overly-ambitious do-gooder will be right up my alley.

2. Naturally Tan by Tan France

Queer Eye is one of my guilty pleasure shows, so I definitely want to read this memoir from one of the guys who works on it.

3. This Time Will Be Different by Misa Sugiura

I’m especially interested in the generational tensions in this story. The main character’s grandparents were sent to a Japanese internment camp during World War II, and that experience changed multiple generations of their family in different and sometimes contradictory ways.

4. The Grief Keeper by Alexandra Villasante

The references to the struggles that immigrants face was what first grabbed my attention from this blurb. My immigration story was quite different from this one, but I have empathy for everyone who moves from one country to the next.

5. The Best Lies by Sarah Lyu

Release date: July 2

This murder mystery sounds amazing. I especially like this genre when the killer might have been acting in self defence. The question of whether they’re telling the truth about this sort of thing makes me eager to figure out the truth.

You can buy filagra online in 25, 50 and 100mg doses, doctors recommend 100mg viagra prescription discover over here version depending on the overall health of an individual, who takes the medicine. One just needs to find out the levitra 60 mg reliable and reputed online store. On the other hand, you may feel ashamed in meeting with a doctor and discuss the erectile dysfunction, so, to order tadalafil 20mg generic just clicking on internet is an easiest way of getting the desired cialis. 6. The Marriage Clock by Zara Raheem

Arranged marriages aren’t part of the culture I grew up in, so I’m looking forward to seeing what Leila, the main character, thinks of them and if any of the dates she plans work out.

Release date: July 23

7. Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Release date: July 23

Imagine going on an adventure with the gods! I’d love to try that sort of experience. It sounds like the perfect jumping off point for a fantasy novel.

8. My Fate According to the Butterfly by Gail D. Villanueva

Release date: July 30

The preteen years are when a lot of kids begin to pick up on interpersonal tensions happening in their families that they might have overlooked at a younger age, so this could be a very good read.

9. The Downstairs Girl by Stacey Lee

Release date: August 13

I’m fascinated by the idea of someone who works as a maid by day and moonlights as an advice columnist. What makes this even more interesting is that the main character pretends to be someone she’s not in order to get that gig!

10. The Revolution of Birdie Randolph by Brandy Colbert

Release date: August 20

Everything about this book appeals to me, from the forbidden romance to seeing how the main character’s family will adjust when a relative who has a substance abuse problem moves back home.

She alone has the power to stop Maal, the dark god of Hael, from destroying her world. Can she trust her powers and guard her heart, or will she lose herself to the flames?

In the land of Aewyr, the immortals stand as mankind’s last hope against Maal and his supernatural army of darkness, but the immortals have their limits. The kingdom of Ceredwyn watches and waits, praying for a savior. When eighteen-year-old Lakyn Trahearne annihilates a zuhl by immolating him, she’s not the only one stunned. Such power has never been granted by the gods, even to immortals. She’s young, and by all accounts, she’s human, and her powers are beyond comprehension. Ceredwyn may have found its champion.

The immortal Reuel is assigned to train Lakyn. He both infuriates and strengthens her, while everything about Lakyn stokes Reuel’s buried pain and rage. Still, he can’t stay away. Together, they are electric and explosive, a precarious combination given Lakyn’s unstable powers.

Nothing and no one have stopped Maal’s steady advance. But Lakyn’s powers have awakened, and love and loss are potent fuels within her. When Maal’s forces threaten the Ceredwyn royal family, Lakyn and Reuel must set aside their friction to protect the ones they love . . . If Lakyn can control the untamed powers within her and stand against the darkness that threatens them all.

Lakyn’s nightmares are about to become very real.

Lakyn’s has a good life. Even though she’s been touched by sorrow, she finds security in her loving, close knit family. When her nephew is born, Lakyn and her family are thrilled. Unfortunately, the moment Lakyn touches him, she has a terrible vision, and the nightmares that have plagued her for as long as she can remember, become more intense. Are they simply nightmares, or warnings?

When Lakyn’s family is attacked, her former life is ripped to pieces. The stories her mother used to tell her about immortals turn out to be true. Unfortunately, Maal and his army are very real as well. Lakyn barely has time to recover from tragedy before she begins training to control the power building within her. There are times when Lakyn just wants to run away and hide yet she keeps going. I admire her strength and determination. I like that Lakyn isn’t magically great at everything when her power manifests. Her training is gritty and realistic. I am curious as to why Lakyn never showed any sign of being different before her family was attacked. Did it take tragedy to unlock her power or was it simply the right time?

Lakyn and Reuel are a strange pair. I must admit I’m still not entirely comfortable with their love/hate relationship. Lakyn definitely set the tone from the first moment they met. She was harsh when Reuel was just trying to help. I completely understand she has been through a lot and her emotions are all over the place. However, she frequently speaks before thinking and hurts those around her. Often, Lakyn immediately regrets her outbursts and apologizes. However, she doesn’t seem able to apologize to Reuel. At least not very often. Reuel also becomes agitated and abrasive the more time he spends with Lakyn. One moment they love each other and the next they can barely stand to be in the same room. I found this confusing. When Reuel reveals a bit about his past, I began to understand his volatile mood swings, but Lakyn and Reuel still have a lot to sort out.

I’m intrigued by the gods, immortals, and forces they battle. Ms. Kirbo provided some of their history, but there is so much more I’d like to learn. I’m especially curious about Reuel. There is clearly something strange going on with his family. I hope my questions will be answered in the sequel!

I’m glad I read A Flame in the Night. The world Ms. Kirbo has created and the characters that inhabit it are thought provoking. I relish the opportunity to return to Aewyr to learn more!

Top Five Charades Titles by E.J. Russell – Guest Blog and Giveaway

Long and Short Reviews welcomes E.J. Russell who is celebrating the recent release of Mystic Man.

*****

Many thanks to Long and Short Reviews for inviting me to stop by today as part of the Mystic Man blog tour! Mystic Man is a contemporary novella set in Connecticut, part of Dreamspinner’s States of Love collection. To celebrate the release, at the end of the tour I’ll be giving away a $20 Amazon gift card and an ebook copy of Clickbait (another of my contemporary romantic comedies) to one lucky commenter.

Top 5 Charades Titles

When I was in graduate school, the co-chair of our department (Theater Administration) hosted a dinner at his home at the beginning of each year for the students in our program. He always included a parlor game as part of the evening’s festivities, and in my first year, my teachers and fellow students discovered one of my deep, dark secrets.

I’m a charades shark.

Part of this comes from working in a book store for years, so when the opposing team tried to pull one on us by giving us The Physician’s Desk Reference, I guessed it in about thirty seconds.

A second part comes from a long-standing fascination with the quirky and obscure. And the last part comes from strategy: when assigning titles to the other team, don’t give them easily acted words; when presenting to your own team, break things down into syllables, which are usually easier for people to grasp than the big picture (especially if the other team has a shark like me).

So although I’m giving away my best secrets here, I trust you to use them for evil, not good (at least when it comes to your next game of charades). Counting down from five…

5. The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind (book)

While there’s greater glory in stumping the opposing team with a short, obscure title with difficult to guess words, I’m rarely able to resist using this one. The first edition of this book came out in 1976, when I was working at the B. Dalton in Costa Mesa. I have no idea what it’s about—and the title doesn’t make it any clearer, which makes it perfect for charades.

4. “One Misty Moisty Morning” (song)

From Steeleye Span’s Parcel of Rogues album. The two center words are a definite struggle for most charaders who haven’t embraced the “sounds like” and “break down into syllables” strategy.

3. The Sex Life of the Polyp (movie)

If these are combined with Kamagra order cheap viagra or similar medicine. The muscles of it also are getting a huge flow of blood that makes relaxed of levitra 10mg the muscles. When a man is sexually aroused, the signals are sent to spinal cord and hartbuildersinc.com lowest prices viagra brain. viagra brand online Sullivan was a senior who played quarterback for Auburn. A 1928 short film written and performed by Robert Benchley. This is actually one of my Curmudgeonly Husband’s choices. He has a definite competitive charade-shark side too.

2. “Rhinocratic Oaths” (song)

By the Bonzo Dog Band, this song is impossible to explain. And nearly impossible to charadify as well—unless your team includes someone who’s a fan of sixties British surreal comedy groups.

1. The Valley of Gwangi (movie)

A 1969 movie featuring James Franciscus in possibly the worst movie makeup ever, with Ray Harryhausen dinosaur stop-motion animation. The movie’s tag line? “Cowboys battle monsters in the lost world of Forbidden Valley.” A classic.

So if you were challenged to a cutthroat game of charades today, what title would you choose to confound your opponents?

When a series of personal crises prompt risk-averse research librarian Aaron Templeton to apply for a job on the other side of the country, nobody is more surprised than he is. He nearly runs home before the final interview except for one little problem: he has no home anymore. He put his condo on the market before he left California and it’s already sold. Only an encounter with free-spirited Connecticut native Cody Brown at the Mystic Seaport Museum staves off Aaron’s incipient panic attack.

Cody loves nothing better than introducing newcomers to the great features of his beloved home state, and when the newbie in question is a rumpled professorial type with the saddest blue eyes on the planet? Score! The attraction between the two men deepens as they explore Cody’s favorite spots, but when difficulties arise and Aaron’s insecurities threaten to overwhelm him, will Cody’s love be enough to keep him in Mystic?

About the Author:E.J. Russell–grace, mother of three, recovering actor–writes romance in a rainbow of flavors. Count on high snark, low angst and happy endings.

Reality? Eh, not so much.

She’s married to Curmudgeonly Husband, a man who cares even less about sports than she does. Luckily, C.H. also loves to cook, or all three of their children (Lovely Daughter and Darling Sons A and B) would have survived on nothing but Cheerios, beef jerky, and Satsuma mandarins (the extent of E.J.’s culinary skill set).

E.J. lives in rural Oregon, enjoys visits from her wonderful adult children, and indulges in good books, red wine, and the occasional hyperbole.

Ewan Mostyn thinks a job as a duke’s daughter’s bodyguard will be easy—but Lady Lorraine has a few tricks up her sleeve that spark an undeniable passion

Fiercely loyal to his friends and comrades, Ewan Mostyn is the toughest in a group of younger sons of nobility who met as soldiers and are now trying desperately to settle back into peaceful Society. Ewan trusts his brawn more than his brains, but when he’s offered a job watching the Duke of Ridlington’s stubbornly independent daughter, he finds both are challenged.

Lady Lorraine wants none of her father’s high-handed ways, and she’ll do everything in her power to avoid her distressingly attractive bodyguard—until she lands herself in real trouble. Lorraine begins to see Ewan’s protectiveness in a new light, and she can only hope that her stoic guardian will do for her what he’s always done—fight for what he loves.

Enjoy an Excerpt

When Ewan Mostyn is waylaid by Prinny, Lady Loraine uses the distraction to escape from her bodyguard’s watchful eye.

The next time Ewan saw Rafe he would give him a black eye. Whatever had possessed Beaumont to tell the prince regent so many damned tales about the exploits of The Expendables? About half of them were mostly true and the other half were truly fiction. Each had a kernel of fact—a location where the men had encountered trouble or a strategy they had used to outwit the frogs—but Ewan could hardly spend all night untangling Rafe’s embellishments.

As it was, he was uninteresting enough that the regent finally sought other amusements, but it took a good half hour for the prince to tire of Ewan’s one word answers. In all that time, Ewan barely kept his tone or his manner civil. Where the hell had Lady Lorraine gone? With a victorious smile, she’d melted away into the fawning sycophants that comprised the regent’s entourage. Ewan had been powerless to stop her, and now he’d been separated from her quite long enough for any number of men, not the least of which was his cousin, to abduct, harass, or ruin her.

Ewan looked for her among the dancers first. That was where she should have been. She had promised dances to no less than a flock of men, and Ewan had anticipated standing about the entire night, watching her twirl and flutter her lashes.

He stood on the side of the dance floor and studied the dancers, looking for her. He’d barely been there a moment before a man stepped in front of him. With a growl, Ewan glared at him.

“You are Ewan Mostyn, are you not?” the man asked, his face breaking into a smile that showed his crooked teeth. He had dark hair, a long nose, and small eyes.

Ewan inclined his head.

“Lord Basil Dottinger.” The man bowed. “We were at school together.”

Ewan merely stared at him. He’d gone to school when he was seven. He’d been there only a year before he was sent home. The excuse had been fighting, but all the boys fought at school. Everyone knew the real reason Ewan was expelled: he was unteachable.

“Do you remember me? We sat at the same table for meals.”

Ewan shook his head.

“Well, you wouldn’t. You didn’t stay long. Did your parents enroll you in another school?”

“No,” Ewan said. Heat prickled the back of his neck. The old humiliation washed over him again. This was why he avoided social engagements. He would never measure up to what the son of an earl should be. He was a dolt and a failure at so many things that came easily to other boys. And now he must stand here and have it thrown in his face. And he couldn’t even punch the man because the bloody Prince Regent would scream and faint at the sight of blood.

“Why not?” Lord Basil asked, but Ewan did not miss the sly smile on his lips. He knew why not. They all did.

“Go away.” Ewan turned his attention back to the dance floor and ignored Lord Basil. After a few more seemingly innocent questions that received no response, the man did go away. He retreated to a spot within earshot of Ewan and made jests to his friends at Ewan’s expense.

“Was he as much a dolt as you remember?”

“He can barely string two words together.”

“Poor fellow. I heard his father disowned him.”

“He’s only here tonight because the Duke of Ridlington paid Prinny to receive him.”

Ewan stiffened. That wasn’t true, was it? He felt his breath grow short, and the heat that burned his neck washed over his face. He wanted to storm out or to turn and fling each man through one of the windows. As he could do neither, he took a deep breath and balled all the pain into a tight knot.

Control. Restraint. Those traits had kept him alive in the war. This was just a different sort of battle.

Ewan forced his attention back to the dance floor. He could not waste his time with these petty men and their small worlds. Who the devil cared if they whispered about him or if Ridlington paid the Regent to receive him? He was here for a purpose, and at the moment, he couldn’t find her.

Lady Lorraine was not on the dance floor, where she should have been, and he was obliged to seek her elsewhere. He tried the area set aside for supper room and that for cards with no luck. If she’d had any sort of compassion at all, she would have taken up residence in the supper room where all sorts of delicacies had been laid out to refresh famished guests before the actual meal commenced sometime in the middle of the night or wee hours of the morning. But Ewan had only enough time to snatch a biscuit and a glass of champagne, which he downed like water, before he had to search elsewhere.

And the elsewhere was obviously to be one of three locations—the lawns, the house itself, or the ladies’ retiring room. Heaven help her if she had allowed Francis or any other man to take her to the back of the house. If the chit got herself ruined on his watch he would throttle her.

Ewan couldn’t search the ladies’ retiring room by himself, so he opted to begin searching the lawns. He stepped out onto the terrace where he’d last spoken with her, walked its length quickly and swore when he did not spot her. She was in the damn house, and now he would have to murder whichever man had led her there.

He’d turned to do just that when the breeze carried the sound of a light, tinkling laugh his way.

Ewan turned back and peered out into the dark shadows cast by trees whose branches blew gently in the wind. The night was cold, and the prince had obviously thought the guests would prefer to stay close to the warmth of the conservatory and the myriad entertainments therein because other than the sconces lining the building and the path back to the house, he had not ordered any other means of light for the lawn or park. Consequently, Ewan could see nothing but tree trunks, the stubby shadows of bushes, and the vague outline of topiaries a little further away. Surely, Lady Lorraine would not have ventured into the gloomy, cold night. She had been wearing a flimsy white dress that bared her neck and enough of her bosom to force him to look away before he looked closer. The sleeves had been little puffs and her gold wrap was so insubstantial that he wondered why she bothered with it at all.

The laughter he’d heard might have come from any woman who had sought privacy with her lover in the shadows, but Ewan had to be certain it was not his charge. He would rather apologize to the couple for interrupting their tryst than to the Duke of Ridlington for losing his daughter.

A client dying on her massage table is traumatic enough for Kate Matthews, but when the police declare that death a murder, life becomes more painful for her as she is cast as the major suspect.

None of this is what Kate expected from her move to the peaceful town of Santa Barbara. After a near-fatal heart attack, an early retirement from her Los Angeles law firm, and a change in careers, Kate envisioned a quiet life with her wife, Alicia, and their grown children.

Massages are supposed to be relaxing, not deadly.

The subplot involving Kate’s family was thought provoking. Not only did the ways in which she communicated with her wife and adult children give me valuable insight into her personality, it also fit in nicely with everything else that was going on in the plot. I especially enjoyed seeing how Kate reacted to conflict at home versus how she responded when something was hard to figure out in her case.

There were times when I had trouble keeping track of all of the characters because there were so many of them. This was something I especially noticed with characters who were only loosely connected to Kate or to the case she was trying to solve. They were mentioned so infrequently that it was easy for me to mix up their occupations and backstories. It would have been helpful to have fewer non-essential people to remember as I was trying to figure out what happened.

With that being said, the mystery itself was well done. The clues about what killed Kate’s client were shared regularly enough to keep me guessing just when I’d come up with yet another theory about who might have been responsible for it. I also liked seeing how the protagonist responded to the clues. She was intensely focused on solving this crime, and that made me more eager than ever to piece everything together before she did.

Give Going Coastal a try if you’re in the mood for a mystery that isn’t easy to unravel.

Madison Price is new to town, trying to build a life for herself as the Head Chef at Earl’s Diner. Needing to move into a second new home before she was ever fully settled was just a small setback – a positive one, if her gorgeous new landlord was any indication. But she and Nate came from entirely different worlds, so she resolved to keep her distance.

Nate Hawke was immediately smitten with his new renter. There was really only one problem: his family was still being targeted by an unknown, lightning powered enemy. Getting close to her would only endanger her; or so he thought before his enemy went ahead and burned Earl’s Diner to the ground anyway.

Now the chemistry between them is pulling them together, and Madison finds her biggest hang up has nothing to do with the fact that her new boyfriend can fly. She’s afraid they’re incompatible, and she’s more afraid that he won’t live long enough to prove her wrong.

Nate wants to keep his distance for Madison’s safety, but is she already a target?

If you are not familiar with cialis sale https://www.unica-web.com/archive/2013/competition/films2013.html erectile dysfunction, it is because of some certain reasons. Here is a look at some of the reasons why men neglect to satisfy her on the cialis 20mg no prescription https://unica-web.com/HONORARY-MEDALS/2014/simeon-simeonov-en.html bed. When Madison rented Nate’s guest house, she had no idea she was stepping into the middle of an ancient feud. Before she knows it, she finds herself the target of a lightning powered foe determined to make Nate, his family, and everyone they care about suffer. Nate never would have rented his house to Madison if he thought she’d be in danger, but now that she’s moved in, he can’t turn her away. Nate is determined to keep an eye on Madison, but can he really protect her from an enemy who doesn’t fight fair?

Madison’s warm and caring personality make it very easy to like her. She’s the kind of woman who reaches out to others when they are hurting. Madison has definitely had some hard times in her past, making it easy to empathize with others going through their own rough patches. Madison also has quite a bit of spunk about her. When she discovers the truth about Nate and the enemy family, she proves she’s no damsel in distress. She takes a few unnecessary risks that had me shaking my head, but Madison does prove to be quite capable of defending herself in a pinch. I found her use of a fire extinguisher particularly entertaining.

Nate is generally an easy going guy, but the thought of Madison being in danger has him all riled up. She works her way into his heart before he even realizes what is happening. At first, Madison and Nate think dating is a bad idea, especially with an enemy lurking in the shadows waiting to exploit any weakness in the Hawke family. However, Madison and Nate can’t fight their mutual attraction for long. I applaud their decision to move forward with their relationship. Not letting their enemy steal all the joy from their lives is a big victory in my opinion.

In the first book of the series, Deep Waters, very little is known about the enemy family, but I strongly suspected one of the secondary characters of being up to no good. My suspicions were proven true. Unfortunately, another character was not who they seemed and the betrayal rocks one of members of the Hawke family to their core.

Now that all the enemies have been revealed, I have questions about why this family is going after the Hawke family now. The lightning powered family could have attacked at any time, so why now? Are these families the only ones of their kind in existence now? Does the lightening family view this as some sort of final battle? I hope to find answers to my questions in other installments of the series.

Ms. Wulf crafted a very intense fight scene between the two opposing families near the end of the book that gave me goose bumps. Nate and his brothers have no experience with fighting, so I had no idea how it would turn out. Fortunately, the Hawke brothers are very smart and they come up with an excellent strategy before they engage their enemy. I enjoyed watching each brother wield their individual powers. They even manage to turn their enemy’s powers against them, but will it be enough? Will Nate and his family come out of the fight unscathed?

Blown Away is a great addition to Ms. Wulf’s Elemental series. Madison and Nate’s story is fun and fast paced with just a dash of suspense. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

Set in the future in a society obsessed with perfection, 15 year old Morgan can’t help being a bit envious of her best friend, Summer. Summer is beautiful, rich and seems to have an effortlessly perfect life. Whereas Morgan isn’t so rich, or beautiful and her younger brother Josh has Down’s syndrome, which according to the government, and society in general, is a crime. They, along with another teenager Jamie whose sister, Holly, has also been kidnapped, uncover a sinister plot involving the kidnapping of disabled children and find themselves in terrible danger. Can they find Josh and Holly before it’s too late?

Fifteen-year-old Morgan envies her best friend, Summer, because Summer is beautiful and rich with great parents, while Morgan isn’t beautiful and her family depends on both her mother’s and her father’s jobs just to keep going. In addition, Morgan has a little brother, Josh, whom she loves, but who has Down’s Syndrome, something that is considered criminal in this futuristic society obsessed with physical perfection. But when Josh is kidnapped, Morgan, Summer, and their new friend Jamie work together to try to rescue Josh as well as Jamie’s sister, Holly.

Karen King has created a richly detailed society which is all too believable and definitely truly horrible. The government ministry keeps tabs on everyone, even supplying physical perfection surgery to the entire population at age sixteen. There is an E-center in everyone’s home which monitors their weight, sending reports to the doctor at the local medical center if anyone’s weight falls above or below the ideal. Morgan is a typical fifteen-year-old girl, worried about makeup and boys, but she truly loves her three-year-old brother. She is grateful to Summer for protecting her from a lot of the teasing at school by those who think that all disabled people should be institutionalized or worse. Morgan is smart and determined. I like the way she doesn’t allow her brother’s kidnapping to be minimized and swept under the carpet. I also like Summer, who could easily have walked away from her friend when Morgan’s brother was born, but she sticks by Morgan in spite of all the social pressure to do otherwise. And then there is Jamie, whose sister Holly has cerebral palsy and who was kidnapped a couple months before Josh. Jamie is a very lonely boy with great skills in technology. His mother died before Holly’s kidnapping and his father is grieving so badly that he has no time for Jamie.

These three young people are engaging and determined. They fight the system and do their best to solve the mystery of the disappearance of disabled children. They fight against tough challenges and they refuse to give up. I found myself caught up in their search, fighting along side them every step of the way, as the mystery surrounding the kidnappings deepens.

Perfect Summer is a real coming-of-age story with a heroic quest. Fans of fantasy will assuredly enjoy following Morgan and her friends as they race to find the kidnapped children. This is an action-packed adventure from start to finish.

Chancy Mallory is loyal to three things in her life: her horse Bowie, her parents and the Mallory Ranch.

Chancy is set on capturing a wild mustang colt to prove her worth to her father who believes the Mallory legacy died when he buried his three sons. When Nick Stone appears at the ranch, Chancy can’t fight the waves of change. She fears her father’s attentions are slipping out of her reach. And while before she thought only of horses and the ranch, her thoughts are now drifting to boys and kisses. Sweet kisses with Nick that is. Except he’s her rival, or is he?

Nick Stone wandered west to avoid the lackluster future his father devised for him inside a stuffy bank in Boston, not to fall in love. He craves the wide open spaces Oregon has to offer. Heʹs learned in his travels that he has a special gift with horses. Especially those that have been tossed aside by others: the rogues, and the unwanted. With this gift, he makes a name for himself at the Mallory Ranch and causes friction with the ranch owner’s daughter. Can he prove to Chancy he is a friend and not a foe? Can his gentle ways tame the ranch owner’s daughter’s wild heart?

To Tame a Wild Heart has a little of everything, historical, coming of age, first loves, and horses. I liked the main character Chancy from page one. She’s interesting, sort of a fish out of water for her time, and knows what she wants. It’s that drive of hers that keeps you turning the pages. And just when you think she might get everything she desires, Nick, the ranch hand shows up and seems to throw Chancy’s chances out the window.

You feel with her and along with her and then there’s the excitement has the little girl turns into a young lady and notices him for something besides being her rival.

I also liked Nick too. You felt like he had something to prove too, and he tried his best not to be an enemy to Chancy. Which sometimes made it hard to know who to cheer for.

This was a quick read and a fun one which I think would make perfect summer reading for any girl who likes horses and spunky characters.
