Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday! Spring is just around the corner, and this week’s topic is Spring Cleaning Freebie. I decided to do my list in two parts. The first part are books I’d like to clean off my tbr by reading them. The second part are books I no longer want to keep and want to clean off my shelves by giving them away. Let’s get to the list!
Books to Clean Off My TBR by Reading them
My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows-I absolutely loved My Lady Jane, but I have yet to read this book!
Under the Greenwood Tree by Thomas Hardy-I love classics and this one has been sitting on my shelves for too long. I need to make time to read it.
I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith-Another classic I desperately need to read.
Silence Fallen (Mercy Thompson #10) by Patricia Briggs-This is one of my favorite series, but I’ve fallen behind and need to get caught back up.
Death of Kings (The Last Kingdom #6) by Bernard Cornwell-Another favorite series I need to continue reading.

The Tombs of Atuan (Earthsea Cycle #2) by Ursula K LeGuin-I really enjoyed A Wizard of Earthsea and read it several times, but I’ve never continued on in the series!
Books I No Longer Want to Keep
Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper #1) by Kerri Maniscalco-I enjoyed this book, but it isn’t a favorite. (more on that below) I’m thinking of donating it to my local bookstore.
Hunting Prince Dracula (Stalking Jack the Ripper #2) by Kerri Maniscalco-As I mentioned above, I enjoyed the first book in the series. I bought the second book and started reading it, but really had a hard time getting into it and ended up putting it aside. I haven’t really felt the need to pick it up again and am considering donating it. If you’ve read it, do you think I should give it another try?
Nine Elms (Kate Marshall #1) by Robert Bryndza-This book has a compelling plot and main character, but its a little too dark for me.
The Other Mrs. by Mary Kubica-Another suspense that is just a little too dark for me.
What do you think? How did you approach the Spring Cleaning Freebie?
I Capture the Castle is great – very easy read for a classic!
Good to know! I think it sounds really interesting.

Earthsea is also on my TBR, but I always forget about it until I see someone else mention it, so this is a good reminder haha! Approaching this list in two ways is a good idea, I just did ten I’m kicking off my TBR list!
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed my list. 🙂

I liked Hunting Prince Dracula, but it wasn’t my favourite book in that series.

I’ve seen some conflicting reviews for Stalking Jack the Ripper, so you’re not alone. I hope you enjoy all of the books you’ve chosen to keep 🙂
Good to know I’m not alone! I’ve heard a lot of people love the series. Like I said, i liked the first book, but just couldn’t get into the second.

I haven’t read Kubica but have been thinking of trying her stuff. Briggs’ series I’m way behind on!

I’m sure it’s the torment of all avid readers and book lovers…which books to keep and which to part with. Great list. Good luck getting to your TBR.

Awesome list! You should absolutely continue reading the Bernard Cornwell series – I finished it in 2020 and only regret that I can’t read it for the first time (again).
I love that series too. I definitely need to get back into it!

I have The Other Mrs. waiting on my Kindle, and the only reason I haven’t gotten around to it yet is because it’s been a while since I’ve wanted to dive into anything THAT dark, so I can completely understand tossing it.
Glad to know I’m not alone! I think I’m more of a cozy mystery person rather than a dark suspense.
Thanks so much for visiting and commenting. 🙂
Good luck reading your books long on the TBR.
Thanks!

I felt the same about SJTR but I really want to give Kerri Maniscalco another go.
You’ll have to let me know what you think if you give the series another try. I’m still on the fence about it!

They are on the long side, but I’ve loved all the ones I’ve read!

I loved one of Robert Bryndza’s other novels, so I’m sorry that Nine Elms wasn’t for you. That being said I really love dark stories, so your decision to unhaul it has made me decide to pick it up soon!
I hope you enjoy it!
