In Strategy Quest: The Executive Guide for Finding Business Opportunities, you will learn how to achieve the strategic mindset necessary to create and decide on the business opportunities that will put you ahead of your competition.

Using the psychology of personality type, you will understand how to make the shift to this growth mindset. In Strategy Quest, you will learn that the strategic mindset is composed of Strategic Intuition and Strategic Thinking. Strategic Intuition creates strategic visions and concepts, while strategic thinking decides if these are genuinely strategic and the right choice for your business.

Strategy Quest uses business examples to show what the strategic mindset is and isn’t. The book also equips you with the tools that you will need for your Strategy Quest and shows you how to overcome the obstacle that you might encounter.

People often use the words goal and objective interchangeably; yet, when it comes to finding strategic opportunities, it is very helpful to distinguish between the two. Objectives are usually SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-based). Goals are vague and qualitative and thus, allow for the divergent exploration of information and experiences. Divergent exploration is necessary for you to employ your introverted strategic intuition (NiS). Business objectives are convergent and rely on the deployment of Te or Ti.

Establishing Needs-Based Goals

Although a goal is vague, it can’t be so abstract that it fails to provide a starting point for exploration. Creating a strategic goal requires finding the right level of constraints, such that it is neither too vague nor too specific. A goal stated as, “finding an opportunity to gain ground or distance on competitors” is too vague to start you on your Vision Quest. A goal such as “improve our customer service” is too narrow to be strategic because it references a business function. An effective goal is constrained to the minimum extent possible while still providing direction.

Suppose that I gave you an empty canvas and asked you to paint. You will likely ask, “What do you want me to paint?” Your goal is too vague to know how to start. If I asked you to paint a car, I have constrained your choice of subject. If I asked you to paint something representing the abstract word transportation, your choice of subject is much broader. An effective goal contains an abstract need.

Abstract words are intangible. Consider that the word love is both an abstract word and a need. Although we can’t see it or measure it, we recognize it symbolically; for example, with a heart. Giving someone a gift is an action that can demonstrate love. When we feel love emotionally, we might express our feelings with a hug, for example. There are many different scenes you could paint if your subject is love.

To show how an abstract, needs-based goal can broaden our thinking about a problem, consider someone who has had their house broken into by a burglar who picked the front door lock. A tactical-thinking type would likely see the lock as his tangible problem and conclude that a better one was required. However, if he viewed the problem in terms of an abstract need, he might consider the goal of improving security. Since “security” is an abstract word, he can consider a broader range of information. Rather than simply researching locks, the person might also consider installing a security system, getting a dog, or moving to a better neighborhood.

Nature Is Unlimited Broadcasting Station: Flowers She Wore on Her Feet by Bertha and Edward Mkwelele – Exclusive Excerpt and Giveaway

‘Flowers she wore on her feet’.

This is the story of an extraordinary girl and young woman with a brilliant mind, a heart of gold, and who is gone too soon. Neema was a priceless gift to us. Neema was an extraordinary young woman, with joy and wisdom, and remarkably profound and greater understanding about herself and others. She taught us everything worth knowing about life and love, everything about what it means to be a best friend. Neema, outlook for future is something about this book. Neema would have wanted the world to hear the voice of children and young people, girls and young people in particularly young women around the world, their walking sound when they walk wearing their beautiful flowers on their feet. Meaning that those girls and young women around the world have worked hard the same way Neema did, searching for their favorite flowers and they were able to see them and finally finding their ways to broadcast them, and therefore, finding their unique values. This is what Neema would have wanted the world to hear from children and young people saying that we go out and we’re asking for help and support, they will wear flower on their feet because they worked hard to get see them and therefore they can now see themselves, and therefore , the walk by itself is a voice and a cry for help and they are saying help us because we would like to contribute to the world and we’re read and we know what we love and what we want to do and what we’re loving doing and we just want opportunities to let us equip with knowledge and skills then we will all be ready and set to contribute to the world we live in our own unique way happily.

Enjoy an Exclusive Excerpt

She would also watch TV, sit on the computer, and do a little bit of music. Now let’s get to the point: Neema was a little girl, our first child, and a child like any other, and of course she went out to play like any child or did all the things that children do.

She was a little bit shy—she was confident, but shy. Yes, that’s right. More seriously, her family and friends would describe her as easygoing, a good listener, a word-player and an extraordinary person who nicknamed herself “unbroken-divine.” Neema was the kind of girl who would go out and grab the world by the lapels. She grew up having her mind set, and believed that you alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anybody.

Neema would hope to laugh as much as I cry, to get her work done and try to love everyone and have the courage to accept the love in return. We believe that Neema would have been able to tell us what she feels about the world today. She would say, “I feel very hopeful, very expectant. I’m looking forward to it.”

Beautifully, as the only daughter in the family, Neema got all the attention and grew up to impress core values she created herself. She was pretty much on the happy side of life, carrying a positive attitude as much as she could. She was always using her favourite saying: “This is what I am happy doing,” but like all children and teenagers Neema had her own “days of.” That means she had some sad days or frustrated days or depressed days. Neema would run to her mom and daddy and talk to them because she was close with them. They were affectionate. She also had few friends at home during school holidays and at school during school time. She was quick to reach out to her friends and talk to them as well. She made her school term as enjoyable as she possibly could, and thought of the next time she would go home for school holidays.

If you could have one paranormal ability, what would it be?

Psychometry, the ability to read information from objects.

What is one thing your readers would be most surprised to learn about you?

I always wanted to have a singing voice and a second career as a musician.

When writing descriptions of your hero/ine, what feature do you start with?

Their physical characteristics in relation to their surroundings. I want the reader to be able to visualize in their mind’s eye what the character looks like as the majority of person-to-person communication is visual.

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

I have to fight my panster tendencies when writing about actual events.

Did you learn anything from writing this book? If so, what?

That is such a broad question. In my battle book journals as I completed an event, we often conducted an After-Action-Review. Visually this process could be likened to a football team reviewing play tapes to discuss team & individual responsibilities. The process we followed in war and training was to first discuss what was supposed to happen. Then discuss what did happen and how we might improve.

The story of America’s longest war is complicated and difficult to convey, unless you were there. Dennis Woods was there. By following his stories in Iraq and Afghanistan, we can sense the enormity of his combat experiences. Originally written for his daughter, Black Flag Journals is taken from the author’s nine battle book journals. It covers his time from the fall of the Twin Towers through his last combat tour.

Black Flag Journals contains not just stories from the first war of the new century, but a day-by-day record of events that other veterans may use to relate their own experiences. All who enjoy real life stories, and followers of history will connect with this first person account of America’s longest war.

The flight we were on this morning was an ordinary, run-of-the-mill resupply operation. Its purpose was to service Afghanistan’s numerous small camps and bases. What it carried, though, was not ordinary or run-of-the-mill. What we were delivering was an unusual allotment of artillery ammunition and GELON mounts. Part of my mission on this trip was about to be completed. However, once in the air, I was given a new defensive challenge to solve.

The Goddess of Playfulness by Elliott Robertson – Guest Blog and Giveaway

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Elliott Robertson will be awarding a $15 Amazon or Barnes and Noble GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

The Goddess of Playfulness

What if the Goddess of Playfulness invites us to start with the question “What do you want?” To ask this to ourselves and to our partners and playmates.

What if the Goddess of Playfulness says, “It’s not play if anyone is compromising what they want. Or isn’t clear about what they want. I don’t approve of this.”

What if she wants us to answer the question “What kind of restaurant would you like to go to?” with candor? Even if you’d like to go to a Mexican restaurant but you’re not sure if the one you’re going with does.

What if the Goddess of Playfulness invites us to let go of our need to be right about everything? What if the addiction to being right (and fundamentalism) interferes with the lighthearted spirit of play? What if it makes the eternal river of joy within us less accessible?

What if when we are less attached to being right, we become more open to creativity, inventiveness, curiosity, exploration, and so forth? What if we are less likely to get stuck in the old patterns, the outworn behaviors, the dead-end streets that don’t lead to solutions when we are captured by the spirit of Play?

What if the spirit of Play can help us overcome perfectionism? Surely Thomas Edison had some playfulness within him and some curiosity (they go hand in hand). If he didn’t, I’m no so sure he would have persisted in trying one different approach after another. He failed in his efforts to create a lightbulb over 40 times. Time after time, he didn’t let the “failure” stop him—he didn’t let the “this isn’t perfect” get in the way.

What if the spirit of Play can help us create new neural networks? If you’ve never done needlepoint before and you take it up, you’ll start creatin new neural networks. For those who are interested in creating a new world, instead of dismantling the old, the spirit of Play can help in many ways on many levels. And besides, what if we get more done and do a better job when we’re having fun?

Say Yes to Life provides you with seven keys to unconditional, abundant living. Each key opens a doorway to experiencing life as a gift.

This book will guide you to the depths of your heart where you long to celebrate life with a wholehearted “Yes!”

You will be led to a place of greater authenticity.
You will be encouraged to take joy in who you are.
Only willingness is needed to embrace yourself with gladness.
With your true Self in the driver’s seat and the ego in the back seat, life takes on a new vibrancy.

Now you are present to yourself, to your companions, and the cosmos. The mountaintop appears and beckons you into the fullness that has always been awaiting you.

Enjoy an Excerpt

Dear one, as you set forth on the new adventure offered by this book, give yourself permission to discover new facets of your multi-dimensionality. Allow yourself to vibrate on higher levels, closer to the mountaintop of joy without condition. Allow yourself to hear God say, “You are glorious!” Give yourself permission to say “Yes” whenever Source says “This is who you are.”

Never before has humanity lived in an age so ripe for transformation, happiness, harmony and cooperation.

Never before has the need for transformation been so apparent. Not that the need for transformation has never been so great; rather, the need has never been so visible. The darkness and impurities within the systems in our world are more visible and palpable today because we have entered an era of greater light.

Never before has the world been so prepared for a new arrangement of systems informed by integrity and compassion. Never before have so many people been poised for self-realization and the joy of living from integrity and authenticity.

This book is for those who long for the day when corruption will be replaced by the blossoming of goodness. It is written for those who want to see the flourishing of kindness throughout the world, through systems of commerce, governance, and medicine.

About the Author Elliott Robertson is a Happiness Coach. He holds an MA in Psychology and has been certified as a Happy for No Reason workshop facilitator. His articles have appeared in several magazines, including Science of Mind and Miracles Magazine.

It’s show night. You’ve bought tickets and are waiting with your friends. The lights drop. The darkness swells in anticipation. A collective cheer grows. A breath of silence. Then, that first chord screams from the > speakers. Lights flash to flood the stage, radiating as the concert comes to life.

We are there, too, in the dark under the show, behind it, and above it. > Each prop or cool trick, every costume or scene change requires the hidden help of someone behind the scenes. In a few hours, you will have gone home, but we will still be here, tearing it all down. We will pack up the gear, load up more than a dozen tractor trailers, and head out to the next city. Tomorrow, we will build the production again in a new building. We’ll greet another audience. We’ll put on another show.

From load in to load out, watch a production build toward show time. Hear true stories from the rock and roll roadies who’ve helped create the world’s biggest concert tours with interviews from dozens of touring technicians.

I can pick the roadies out of any crowd. A small army, surrounded by a sea of civilians, we tend to dress in uniform. Faces will be tired, maybe unshowered, 21 Hours Until Show Time 2and most likely wearing either a “Fuck Off” or “Fuck Yeah” defiance. Wear all black, always. That’s basic. We need to blend in, unseen backstage. Closed-toed shoes, preferably steel-toed boots. Cargo shorts or utility belt, even on nights off. Some will be missing chunks of fingers. Others may be missing full fingers. One I know will be missing an ear. Tattoos are a plus, worn as badges of honor, as are beards, mohawks, piercings and shaved heads. When in doubt, asking about these artistic identifiers always gets us talking. We walk in like we are taking over, and usually do. Our laminated backstage passes—discreet, yet purposefully visible to any who bother to look—grant us VIP access almost anywhere, including private clubs, closed liquor stores, and most likely, your hotel room, if we ask. We are not groupies. We are not fans. We are with the show. We are touring live entertainment technicians. We are roadies. If you go without pissing people off, you can stay. But out here, it is more than a job. It is a lifestyle. Like any community, there are certain rules you have to follow. Call it a pirate’s code, to self-govern the chaos. Some rules we’re told. Straightforward, and essential.

About the Author:

Rachel Pfennig Hales has always loved show business. From theater as a child, to a brief stint in television production, she found her niche in live event production. Rachel was able to start her career touring around the world with the Black Eyed Peas, and then with Lynyrd Skynyrd. Now, she is the Client and Community Development Manager at Rock Lititz, helping with various touring rehearsals and building up the live event culture on campus. It seems like everyone’s talking about Bitcoin these days. Still, a lot of people just don’t get it. Or they assume Bitcoin is just for tech-savvy millennial guys or rich investors like Elon Musk.

As for women, many of us didn’t get a great financial education. Some of us shy away from conversations about money and investing especially if it has to do with the crazy world of cryptocurrencies.

What to do? Start with this brand new short, fun, and easy read,”Smart Bitches Buy Bitcoin: A Simple Guide for Women Who Want to Learn the Truth About Bitcoin and Control Their Financial Future.”

The book is designed to help women understand the current financial situation, why Bitcoin could be the life raft they need, and how to get started investing in it. Don’t leave your economic future to chance just because it seems scary or confusing and this is the perfect book to get you started.

Maybe the only thing that says “cool” more than celebrity endorsements are celebrity investments. Besides Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey, there are some big-name celebrities who have made the leap into crypto, including:

Snoop Dog, Mark Cuban, Kanye West, Hugh Laurie, Floyd Mayweather, Bill Gates, Jamie Foxx, Richard Branson, Ashton Kutcher, and Drew Carey.

Notice anything about this incredible list of leaders, celebrities, and generally smart people? You got it.

They’re all guys.

According to one brokerage study released in early 2021, women make up only 15 percent of Bitcoin traders. This must change, bitches, which is why we wrote this book.

The good news is things are starting to turn. Crypto buying platforms are reporting that investments by women are skyrocketing by double and triple-digit percentages.

And just as we were editing this manuscript, Paris Hilton was asked if she was invested in Bitcoin and she said, “Yes, I’m very, very excited about it, it’s definitely the future.”

Bitcoin as an investment was once thought of as a contrarian idea. It is fast becoming a consensus position.

And if you don’t think being invested Bitcoin is a good idea after reading this section, there’s nothing more we can do to help. As the saying goes, we can explain Bitcoin to you, but we can’t understand it for you.

About the Author:

Branden LaNette doesn’t look like a typical author but she has long ignored what she “should” do, say and look like. On her own at a very young age, Branden eventually found herself with the wrong guy, the wrong job, and a bleak future. The fairytale she was promised as a child never materialized.

Finally, Branden decided that she wanted something different for her life, and realized no one was going to do it for her. Prince charming wasn’t coming to save her—she’d have to save herself.

Step by step, decision by decision, through major trials and tribulations that would stop most people in their tracks, Branden learned how to turn heartbreak into happiness and self-judgement into inner joy.

Today, Branden LaNette is an entrepreneur, coach, speaker, wife, and stay-at-home Mom to six C-section babies (ages 1-16) and way too many f-ing pets. Somehow, however, she manages to juggle all of this effortlessly (a blatant lie) while pushing her way through the kinds of fear and self-doubts that whisper within all of us (totally true) to achieve her goals. Her most recent dream come true is this book, one that is destined to have a major impact on millions of women across the globe (or at least nine people in Michigan.)

Through it all, she has found her happiness, her joy, and more importantly, her voice.

YOUNG PLAYERS ON THE RISE IN BOSTON

Though none of them appear in my latest survey of the Bruins brightest stars, the following players may be featured in future volumes:

CHARLIE McAVOY
DEFENSE

He isn’t drawing frequent comparisons to Bobby Orr or Ray Bourque just yet, but McAvoy may be Boston’s defenseman of the future. In his 2017-’18 debut, he was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team. McAvoy has excellent speed, handles the puck well and is capable of laying devastating hits on opponents. In 2019-‘20, he reached a career-high of 27 assists—pretty impressive for a twenty-two year-old.

TRENT FREDERIC
CENTER

Born in St. Louis, Frederic played both football and hockey in high school. During his days at the University of Wisconsin, he was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year. He led the Badgers with 17 goals and 15 assists during his sophomore campaign. In 2018, he signed a contract with the Bruins. Called up for the first time in 2018, he has become a regular in the Boston lineup. A spirited player with great speed, the Bruins believe he may be destined for bigger and better things.

BRANDON CARLO
DEFENSE

A Colorado native, Carlo played for the University of Denver before aspiring to the NHL. Entering his fifth season with the Bruins, he has accrued a plus-58 rating so far. He is one of Boston’s top shot blockers. Solidly built at 6-foot-5, 215 pounds, he handles himself well on the ice. Though he doesn’t appear in the scoring column terribly often, he has elevated his offensive game over the past two seasons. He was twenty-four years-old at the start of the 2021 season.

MATT GRZELCYK
DEFENSE

Hailing from Massachusetts, Grzelcyk was a major star for Boston University, where he served as team captain in his junior and senior years. His overtime goal lifted the Terriers to their thirtieth Beanpot Tournament victory. Currently in his fourth full season with the B’s, Grzelcyk is a tireless grinder and is gradually finding his scoring touch. He had 20 points in 37 games with Boston during the 2021 regular season. He avoids the penalty box in spite of his physical play.

CONNOR CLIFTON
DEFENSE

Clifton grew up in Matawan, New Jersey. He attended Quinnipiac University, where he was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team during each of his four seasons. Originally drafted by the Coyotes, he was signed by the Bruins in May of 2018. He played his first full season with Boston in 2021, finishing among the team leaders in hits and blocked shots. In spite of his modest size (5-foot-11, 175 pounds), he plays a very physical game. He has received glowing praise for his “attack mentality.”

JEREMY SWAYMAN
GOALIE

Hailing from Anchorage, Alaska, Swayman helped the U.S. team to a Bronze Medal in the 2018 World Junior Championships. He spent three years at the University of Maine, where he was named to three consecutive All-Star teams. In 2020, he was among the most decorated college players, capturing Hockey East Goaltender of the Year and Player of the Year honors. He also won the Mike Richter Award, which is given to the NCAA’s top collegiate goalie. After his junior year of college, he was signed by the Bruins. In April of 2021, he was called to Boston to substitute for Jaroslav Halak, who tested positive for Covid-19. In 10 starts, Swayman compiled a 7-3 record with a 1.50 goals against average. His quick reflexes and superb puck-tracking skills have impressed coaches and teammates. Fans in Boston are already talking about him becoming the successor to future Hall of Famer Tuukka Rask.

JEREMY LAUZON
DEFENSE

Born in Val-d’Or, Quebec, Lauzon was selected by the Bruins in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Upon finishing his junior hockey career with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, he joined the Bruins’ minor league affiliate in Providence. As of 2021, he appears to have found a permanent home in the NHL. Lauzon is a big guy at 6-feet-2, 210 pounds and he hits hard. He doesn’t hesitate to block shots or trade punches with opponents if he is challenged. Extremely mobile on defense, he has an active stick and remarkable on-ice vision. Those qualities have earned him the respect of Bruins’ head coach Bruce Cassidy. At twenty-three years of age, he may have a very bright future ahead of him.

Among the “original six” NHL clubs to survive the Great Depression, the Boston Bruins have a vibrant history. Entering the 2020-’21 campaign, the team ranked fourth all-time with six Stanley Cup championships. Some of the most gifted players in NHL history have skated for the Bruins over the years. Best of the Bruins: Boston’s All-Time Great Players and Coaches tells the individual stories of the players and coaches who have helped make the Bruins perennial contenders for close to a century. Profiles of current players are included in this sweeping survey.

Brad Marchand

In spite of the team’s efforts to protect him, Marchand has repeatedly engaged in outrageous behavior on the ice. His most reprehensible acts include a low-bridge hit on Sami Salo of the Canucks that left the Vancouver defenseman with a concussion and a spearing penalty incurred for deliberately hitting Tampa Bay blue-liner Jake Dotchin in the crotch with his stick. Entering the 2019-‘20 campaign, Marchand had half a dozen suspensions to his credit in addition to multiple fines.

In spite of his incorrigible antics, Marchand has been an indispensible member of the Bruins top scoring line, which also features David Pastrnak and Patrice Bergeron. The trio, which has been dubbed “The Perfection Line” by sportswriters, averaged well over 200 points per year between 2016-’17 and 2019-’20. Marchand was the team’s top point producer in three of those seasons. Not only does he score goals in bunches, but he scores them in timely fashion. In November of 2019, he set a franchise record with his 26th short-handed goal. And by January of 2020, he had attained a rank of #6 among the Bruins all-time leaders in game-winning goals. His efforts earned him a pair of Seventh Player Awards in 2011 and 2016. But outside of Boston, he is largely viewed as a criminal.

Asked about his tarnished professional image, Marchand told a reporter: “It’s tough. I’ve tried for awhile now to get away from that role and I just can’t seem to escape it. I think obviously if you look back on the last few years, I’ve turned into a decent player and it’s tough to be branded with that name consistently. Obviously, it’s from my own doing but it’s tough to escape it. Devil’s advocate there, it’s what I had to do to get into the league so I’ll never say that I wouldn’t go back and play the same way.”

About the Author:A lifelong sports fan, Weeks has published several non-fiction books on the topic of baseball. Additionally, he has two novels to his credit–one of them a posthumous collaboration with his father. His latest project: Best of the Bruins: Boston’s All Time Great Players and Coaches, is due out in 2021.

Is your purpose only to pay the bills every month, raise a family, and then die? Or is there a bigger purpose? Do you take the responsibility to give something back to the universe at large, or to your source of existence from where you were given this life form? Is your purpose of life to help others?

It becomes very fascinating when you have the paradigm shift from reason to purpose. You suddenly start associating with people who have a similar purpose as you do in your life. You start understanding their purpose and how they are trying to fulfill this purpose, as they go forward in terms of understanding what nature is teaching them.

Now this new DESIRE in you to reach out to people, a feeling of giving to the universe, is actually a DESPERATE FIRE inside of you making you experience this paradigm shift.

Let us look at this newfound desire. It is like the light that you see before entering a tunnel. You only see the light that is required at that point in time. The indications which the universe gives you change in terms of your own physical surroundings. You only need to see the next few steps; you do not see the end of the tunnel. It is important for everyone, no matter which country, area city, or direction you’re coming from, to get into the tunnel. Understand that the process of seeking enlightenment is the same the world over (hence, the tunnel is the same for everyone). You have to come to a point of understanding your own self, with the help of taking small steps, in order to solve the mysteries as challenges that your life gives you. Every time you solve one problem in your life, the mystery of your journey gives you clarity towards the next step. In the process your own purpose starts becoming clearer.

The discovery of this new you will make your thoughts and your actions become completely focused on a different “purpose” of your life. Now you will not just do things out of the blue, but your actions will be more meaningful.

My Process Writing This Book About Animal Communication

The process as I communicated with each of the animals in this book ended up being quite different from conversations I’ve had in the past. Normally, a human reaches out to me with a request or an issue to discuss—anything from helping a dog understand the process of flying to questions about how an animal feels about cancer treatments. In these instances, it’s normally a back-and-forth conversation, and I’m connected more with their physical selves. We’re addressing their likes and dislikes, their needs, their preferences, et cetera. The messages in this book, however, were really them talking and me transcribing. My process was to quiet my mind, ground myself, tune in to each animal, and then introduce myself and explain what I was doing. Actually, I didn’t have to do much explaining at all. They seemed to already know what I was looking for. It was more of a “download” from them than anything. For these conversations, I was connected to their higher selves, not the physical, as well. So it wasn’t about what their bodies wanted or needed but what their souls wanted us to know and understand. It was also less about their individual personalities and focused on a much deeper connection with us all. Once the animals in this book started talking, I was just writing down everything they said verbatim. So if you see questions, it’s the animal asking the questions. And yes, it was done using pen and paper. It may take longer, but doing so seems to provide a deeper connection than typing on a computer or making an audio recording. But that’s just what feels right for me. As I was writing their words, it was very clear to me.

What They Want Us To Know: Messages of Hope, Meaning and Unity From the Animal Kingdom.

Have you ever wondered what animals would tell us if they could? This book will give you that chance to find out! By being able to receive downloaded messages from wild and domestic animals, Shawndra translates their messages for us. These animals have shared powerful messages of unity, connection and purpose, and steps that each of us are able to take to deepen the connection, find more meaning in our lives, and become the humans that the animals know we can be. You’ll hear messages from 12 different animals on what they want us to know in order to live a more profoundly amazing life. You’ll be given the opportunity to learn ways to be more compassionate, tolerant and heart-centered, to the animals and to each other.

HIPPO WAS THE FIRST TO open the door to what I could be, something that has made me more connected to my higher self than I ever thought possible. After Dr. Jeri Ryan had helped me communicate with my dog Joey, I took her animal communication class and Hippo was the first one that I connected with telepathically. I can still vividly remember how I felt when I tuned in to Hippo. It felt completely different from speaking to a human or even daydreaming. I was connected to something outside myself that I didn’t even know was there but that felt instantly familiar. It felt more real and genuine than most of the conversations I’ve had with humans. It felt clear, honest, kind, and deeper than what I was used to with most humans. And it happened in a matter of minutes, not months or years of building trust. While Joey was the catalyst to bring me to this moment, Hippo was the one who I listened to for the first time and who opened my heart to more awareness of this new path.

So how did grief change for me when Crystle passed away?

For the first week after she passed, our home was busy. It was filled with family as we prepared a celebration of life for Crystle. It was a good distraction, if I can use that expression. But at the same time, I was succumbing to a myriad of negative emotions.

I was becoming very angry. Why me? Or more importantly, why Crystle? Surely there was no more loving or gentler woman on this earth than Crystle. I was becoming angry with a God that I was not even sure existed. I lashed out at God anyway. I cursed him and told him he should have taken me. I told God that Crystle’s passing only proved what I had suspected: He was not real. “God is a fairytale,” I thought to myself, as if trying to goad Him into showing himself to me. My anger spilled over to others. I became angry with her physicians and the decisions they made for her medications and for her care. I lashed out at the insurance company as I began the process of making a claim. I was angry that I even had to endure this process. My anger would build until my emotions poured out in tears of hopelessness. The first time I called the insurance company I had to hang up because I was sobbing so hard, I could not make any intelligent sounds come from my being.

Then there was jealousy. I remember watching a couple walking hand in hand through the outlet mall, a place I would only ever be with Crystle. I wanted to walk up to them and shout, “Hey, my wife was taken from me. Do you know that?” I wanted everyone to feel sorry for me. Especially the happy couple! I wanted everyone to know my pain. If I could not have my wife to hold my hand, then everyone should share in my sadness.

I felt guilty. Why had I not had these intense feelings of grief when my father passed away? Did I not love him enough? Why had I not realized how my mother was hurting? Surely, she had faced the same pain when the live of her life left us. And to compound all my emotions, I felt guilty about my jealousy and anger.

This cocktail of emotions was bottled up inside of me. No wonder the sighs erupted from my soul so frequently during this time. I thought no one knew how I was feeling in those early days of grief. And I think it’s probably fair to say that there were some who do not know how I was feeling. But many understood. Many have walked in grief.

About the Author:I grew up in Canada’s east coast and moved to Toronto in my late teens. I was ready to sow my wild oats in the big city. But I met Crystle on a blind date and everything changed. I knew she was the love of my life. I have a business degree from the University of New Brunswick and I have worked in the information technology sector much of my working career. That hardly is credentials for an author, but life makes us all experts, even in areas we may prefer not to hold that title. When Crystle passed my life was forever changed. My grief was so overwhelming I felt I needed to share my story and if even one person is inspired to defeat grief then my writing career will be a success.
