… Lee sat back in the leather armchair. She’d told him that all he had to do to get a damn good fucking was to stay in the chair until she decreed otherwise.

As he watched Daisy move around the living room Lee thought, not for the first time, how inappropriately named she was. The name suggested someone meek, gentle and childlike. It didn’t conjure the image of a tall, fit, fake blonde, who could get her rocks off simply by beating your arse until it glowed purple.

She was clearing the space in front of him. The coffee table had already been repositioned to the side of the chair, and the newspapers that usually lay all over the place had been stacked up. All the cushions he’d thrown off the sofa had been neatly placed back where they belonged.

‘You are going to reward me for watching you clean up?’ Lee was amused by this uncharacteristic fit of tidying.
Daisy gave him a stare that would have chilled a lesser man to the bone, but Lee had known her for a long time and all it did was increase the arousal of her promise to give him a good seeing-to.

‘Come off it, Daisy. You’re only doing the chores.’

Ignoring him, his partner brushed her hands together, and glancing at the increased floor space across the now uncluttered pale green carpet, left the room.

Lee’s imagination had already moved on to what reward he was going to get for being a good, patient boy. He wondered if he’d have to endure a spanking, or if she’d bind or gag him. Flickers of tense longing played in his stomach and stirred his groin.

Glancing at the clock on the corner of the bookcase, he listened to the quiet tick. It seemed to fill the room as he waited with growing impatience for Daisy’s return. He assumed she was fetching her sex toys, or perhaps changing into something less comfortable. It was with a sense of a surprise and unease, however, that Lee heard the front door open and the sound of muffled voices.

Despite only wearing a red T-shirt and some lightweight black combats, Lee suddenly felt rather hot as Daisy re-entered the lounge with company.

The warning glint in Daisy’s eyes confirmed that Lee should stay precisely where he was, his legs outstretched before him, his arms resting on the chair’s soft padded arms, his mouth shut.

His dark brown eyes moved from his lover to the girl with her. About 25 years old perhaps, with long ginger hair that hung in two perfectly tied pigtails. Slim, but with enough of a curve to catch the eye, her green gaze had a keen, eager to please gleam, that just hinted at mischief.

Lee swallowed very carefully. Daisy hadn’t, had she? Not really? He opened his mouth to ask her if he was right, or if his imagination was running away with him. No sound came out though. He didn’t want to risk her saying he was mistaken and ruining the fantasy that roller-coasted around his lust driven head.

The girl, without taking off either the boots or the long winter coat she wore, even though it was a warm summer’s day, answered his unspoken question, as she lowered her head and knelt on the cleared floor before Daisy; her mistress.

‘Oh my!’ His words were barely audible. Daisy either hadn’t heard them or had dismissed them as unimportant. Lee concentrated very hard on breathing; forcing himself to sit still and not lean forward in the chair….

Dreams are the perfect shelter for fantasies, safe havens to step inside without changing our daily lives. For Lark Braithwaite, all that is about to change. During the last six months, Lark has dreamt of a mysterious Irish lover who knows what she wants and gives her exactly what she needs. In her waking life in busy London, things aren’t as ideal as her long-term relationship with her controlling fiancé Charles has hit a dry spell.

When Lark is called home to Oregon for her father’s funeral, she comes face to face with the demons from her past, but she never expects to meet her dream lover in the flesh. Niall O’Hagan steps straight out of her fantasies and into her life, and the powerful connection they share rocks her foundation. Although she’s dealing with the bitterness of her fiancé’s betrayal and his jealousy, Niall soon stirs Lark’s awareness of her superficial existence and reawakens her sexuality….and her soul.

FROM PUBLISHER’S WEEKLY: “Howard (The Longer They Last) explores the concept of fated love in this skillfully woven contemporary erotic romance. Lark Braithwaite, an American in London, is living with her British fiancé, Charles Chase, when she starts dreaming of a sexy mystery man with an Irish brogue. After Lark gets word that her estranged father has died and she returns to her Oregon hometown for the funeral, she meets the dream man in the flesh: he’s her parents’ widowed lawyer, Niall O’Hagan. Lark quickly falls in love with Niall, struggling to decide whether she should follow her heart or the commitment she’s made to her fiancé-a decision that gets easier when Charles shows his true and ugly colors… Explicit sex scenes crackle with heat, and Howard’s characters invite readers to come in and get lost on the pages with them as the plot hurtles toward a shocking, but not unbelievable, climax involving Lark’s father’s past and her future. Erotic romance fans will devour Howard’s suspenseful and heart-filled story.”

If the kiss had stayed careful and guarded, she might have continued to question it. But the blindfold disappeared. She’d fallen asleep. Her eyes flew open, and he was there. Oh, my God. He was there! Heated eyes watched her. Rakish dark hair fell over his forehead as he breathed hard, and the morning sun lit up the world behind him. She shuddered and took a deep breath to speak, but his hands moved to cup her face. He held still and closed his eyes as his lips took her mouth. Right then and there, she knew with crystal clarity this was real. This was the weight of a real man on top of her, clothed. He smelled citrusy and freshly laundered. What in the hell is this?

How did he get here? He was only her dream lover.

Or was he?

Confused beyond all comprehension, Lark didn’t have any time to contemplate a single thing. His lips delivered a breath-stealing, soul-shattering kiss, and then they were all over each other. This, ah, this she knew. Lark hooked her ankle over his, put a hand on his shoulder, and tried to rid him of his jacket as she drew him closer. She fisted his hair as he devoured her mouth. He tasted the same as her dream lover, and she put her tongue in his mouth to savor more of his tangy sweetness.

They both made noises they never had in her dreams, breathy gasps and blasts of air as their mouths met and separated as they sought new angles and depths to their passion.

He made a disgruntled sound as he tried to get more comfortable in the cradle of her hips over the hindrance of clothes. This wasn’t a dream. He nibbled on her lower lip as she opened her mouth to tell him to stop, but then he carried her away in the undercurrent of his large, warm hands, which caressed the skin of her stomach beneath her hoodie and T-shirt. She continued to accept his kisses but pawed her zipped-up sweat jacket. Okay, so she was still clothed. He was rock hard against her, and he ground his hips into her. A disbelieving grunt escaped his lips. Lark shivered at the jolt that went through her.

“Wh— Mmm. Whoa. Stop,” She managed against his mouth. She furrowed her eyebrows and scrutinized him as he breathed in and out. He braced himself on the weight of his hands above her, his bright green eyes bearing into hers. His face was the face of her dreams—the sensual bowed lips and cleft chin, the built body, and the thick hair. His hair… She blinked. His hair was cut at the nape and styled for a day at work. She glanced at his clothes.

“Um, why are you wearing a suit and tie this time?” She squinted against the sunlight. Please, God, let this be a dream. He moved his head and put her in shade.

When the Muse (Thankfully) Takes Control

Thank you for hosting me today on this stint of my Virtual Book Tour, promoting the new anthology from DCL Publications – Falling for You!

My story inclusion is called ‘My Name is Not Cupid’ and it follows an angel named Zeretha, who has been stripped of her powers and wings and sent to earth by God for one final assignment – to unite a Hollywood actor with the love of his life, and to prove the angel worthy of reclaiming her wings and abilities. Obviously, the title of the story is taken from the premise, and it leads into a hilarious romantic comedy with plenty of heart and soul.

This tale is incredibly different from my inclusions in the last two DCL anthologies. In Queens of Hearts, I told the story about a young gay man who won the title of Top Drag Queen, which made him question his life’s choices and seek out ways to become his happiest him. In the anthology The Greatest Gift of All, I shared the story about a young business woman in NYC who embarrasses herself in front of a good-looking guy in her work place and disappears to Tennessee to avoid him and New York’s winter snow – only for both obstacles to follow her home.
Aside from keeping the themes of comedy and romance prevalent in my work, everything I write takes on a different feel with different types of characters – all dependant on what Muse has visited me at that time. My muses know I write ‘splice of life’ fiction, and they have delivered some really fun, unusual, and intriguing characters to me so that I can share their stories.

The muses seem to know what they’re doing with me, and they guide my hand despite where my brain wants to take the story. For instance, Zeretha wasn’t originally set to go to Hollywood to complete her assignment. The angel was instead intended to quickly foil her last assignment and then try to ‘trick’ her way back into Heaven. Apparently, that wasn’t the story the muses wanted me to write, so instead of ‘Hijacking Heaven,’ we got ‘My Name is Not Cupid.’ Had the original idea came to fruition, we never would have gotten Mildred and Milton – a hilarious elderly couple and two of my most adored characters yet. Without them, I don’t think this story would have been nearly as funny and heart-warming as it is. My Muse new exactly what this story needed, and they guided my hand from what I thought I was creating to what was actually created.

And I couldn’t be happier.

This Christmas season, I will take my readers back to Nashville with my first solo release – A Country Christmas Kiss. Get ready for cowboys, country music, and warm logs burning in the fireplace. The muses delivered this story to me early in the summer, and I’m super excited to share it with my fans. It is about a female country singer who is at the top of her career, but when Christmas arrives, she realizes that her career has become her life, and all she really wants is someone to spend the holiday with. Will a little Christmas magic happen, allowing the country singer to find her happiness? Well… I’m all about the happy! But to believe it and to feel it, you must read it.

One thing is certain about my muses – as long as I trust them, they don’t lead me wrong. I trust them to help me deliver my best work, and I’m so thankful for them. I’ve heard rumors of muses abandoning their authors in the past. So far, I’ve been fortunate, and I hope I stay that way. Maybe if I bribe my muses with fresh baked cookies, they’ll keep hanging around… Do bribes work on muses?

I’d like to extend thanks to my fellow authors in the Falling for You anthology – Adesanya and Jae El Foster. We make quite a team, as this anthology demonstrates. Thanks also to our editor Jean Watkins, whom we drove crazy in the process, and to publisher DCL and promotional vixens Goddess Fish Promotions for making this book tour happen. Thank you also, Long and Short Reviews, for including us. It takes a team to make something like this – the book and the tour – come together, so… thank you!

Her powers… she hadn’t tried her powers since landing here. Perhaps, she thought, they hadn’t been stripped after all. Crouching low, she began to run, and with a leap, she jumped into the air to fly. Instantly, she fell back down to the ground.

Okay. She couldn’t fly anymore. Perhaps she could still teleport. She looked at a tree across the lake and placed her focus on it. Then, with the tilt of the head that had always worked before, she attempted to materialize beside it. Yet, no matter how much she focused, she could not teleport.

Immortality was another trait that all angels shared, and so Zeretha began to climb the tallest tree she could find, getting about a third of the way up it. Then, she crawled out onto a sturdy branch and stood up straight on it. Without a second thought about it, she jumped from the tree and fell down hard to the ground.

It hurt like hell. She had a gash on her leg from a sharp rock and when she tried to stand, she felt the bone snap. In the worst pain she’d ever known, she collapsed back down to the ground.

“This is not funny!” she screamed through bleary eyes as she once again looked to the heavens. “I did not deserve this!”

“You broke your own leg,” she heard a voice tell her. “God didn’t make you jump from that tree.”

Looking over, she saw Titus – one of God’s impish assistants. Dressed in a suit and tie, he held a clipboard and made notes as he looked Zeretha over through the lenses of his glasses.

“You…” Zeretha groaned, and for a moment, she thought she’d rather deal with the pain of the broken ankle than with Titus.

“Yep, me… I’ve worked my entire existence trying to move up the ranks, and I get stuck following you around on Earth.” The tone of his voice was droll and he held a resting bitch face. “You think you’ve got it bad? You don’t have to follow you.”

“Then go home,” she told him, holding her ankle with both hands. “I’d rather deal with this than deal with you.”

“Okay,” he said, adding more notes to his clipboard. “Fine. But with that ankle, you won’t make it ten feet. Come morning, you’ll be breakfast for the bears.”

“Bears?”

“Big ones.”

Zeretha sighed and shook her head. The last thing she wanted was Titus’s help. He was a brown-nosing suck-up to God, and if she was to be perfectly honest, she detested him. He made the life of angels so much harder than it should have been. He was the one that noted failed good deeds, shirking duties, and anything else that could have caused angels to lose their wings.

I mounted the six shallow steps and faced the double front doors. Twin carriage lights cast a soft gleam over the brass plaque with its discrete lettering:

Club Hard

Private Members Only

I desperately wanted to run back down the steps, leap into my car, and drive home, but if I did, nothing would change, and I’d go back to dividing my time between working out, Candy Crush Saga, and the occasional night out with my friends. I might miss out on learning something about myself, something that could make a difference in my sex life. Worse, I might miss a chance at love.

I stayed, my feet rooted to the floor, but the insides of my hands were so damp, my finger slipped on the brass bell, setting off a short, discordant jangling. I winced as I rang it again properly this time. That certainly wouldn’t endear me to anyone.

Shifting from foot to foot, trying to keep the blood circulating in my toes, I looked around. Behind me, the gravel drive snaked away to a discreet carpark, and trees and shrubs created shadows within shadows. Autumn had finally reached London and in this exclusive part of it, crisp, clean air and earthy leaf mulch replaced the smell of fast food and exhaust.

I shifted again, starting to get irritated. If you were going to demand a woman wear nothing but a skirt that barely covered her butt, and a top that was little more than a bit of elastic bandage—on me it was ridiculous, if I sneezed, I’d pop out over the top—then you should damn well open the door promptly. Now, despite wearing my warmest coat over the absurd ensemble, there was a distinct draught zipping under my hem and freezing my exposed butt cheeks.

I lifted my finger to stab the bell again, and the door swung open.

Bloody hell. A real butler. I was no stranger to mansions with staff. Working as a bodyguard meant I saw the inside of a lot of wealthy homes, but so far, a liveried butler was a new one to me.

“Can I help you?”

I cleared my throat, wondering if there was any etiquette for addressing a butler, aware that my finger was still lurking in the vicinity of his eye. “Umm, I’m, ah, it’s Ms. Dainty. To see Mr. Dufort. I’m expected.”

He waved me through into a large marble-floored hall with a fire burning at one side. A wide, elegant staircase at the back curved away to the upper floors.

Other plausible reasons could be hesitation because of embarrassment and cost of the ED discount tadalafil medicines. Secondly, if the man is taking viagra purchase no prescription then he should consider the doctor or physician. “I’ll inform Mr. Dufort that you’re here, if you’d like to take a seat.” He indicated a collection of sofas and easy chairs huddled as if for warmth around the fireplace. I made a beeline for the heat.

“May I take your coat?”

I crossed my arms tightly. No way was I exposing my scantily clad self. “Ah, thanks, but I’m a bit cold.”

“I see my guest has arrived, Henry.”

I turned away from the fire to see Lucien Dufort crossing the hall toward me. The floor seemed to drop a few inches and I had to grab the back of a chair to steady myself as his delicious, rich chocolate voice with its faint French accent wound around me, setting my heart hammering.

A tall, elegant man, he moved toward me with predatory intent, covering the floor in loose, confident strides, but it was his eyes that held my gaze, dark eyes, sharp with intelligence and power. He wasn’t a handsome man. His narrow-bladed Gallic nose, inherited from his mother, was slightly overlarge for that, but his lips were sensual, and the mix of tenderness and lust in his expression as he looked at me sent electric tingles charging down my spine.

“Rose, welcome to Club Hard.” He lifted my hand and pressed a kiss to the back of it, his tongue flickering into the little hollow between my two smallest fingers, mimicking the act of sex. Normally, that would be an instant turn-off, but when Lucien did it, everything inside me melted. I tugged my hand free and shoved it into my coat pocket. This was bad. We hadn’t even started yet and my hormones were doing a happy dance.

“Your coat, ma petite.”

I undid the buttons reluctantly and he stripped it off my shoulders, giving it to Henry before indicating my feet. “Barefoot, please.”

I obeyed, steadying myself with one hand on Lucien’s forearm. I could have rested it there all day, enjoying the feel of thick bone and the flex of hard muscles, but I quickly unzipped my boots and gave them to Henry, who took them as solemnly as if I was handing him the crown jewels for safekeeping. He disappeared, taking my things with him, and I stood shivering, waiting for Lucien to say or do something. I shouldn’t have felt vulnerable. I fought with this amount of flesh on display, so it shouldn’t have bothered me, yet insecurity and apprehension crept hand-in-hand up my spine. “Lucien?”

He cupped my chin, his palm warm and sure, his thumb stroking my cheekbone in a gesture I found calming. “Tonight, you will address me as Monsieur, or Sir.” His words sank deep inside me, reaching a place I wasn’t aware existed. A place I didn’t want to believe existed. I stepped back, dislodging his hand.

Lucien’s cheek creased in amusement. “So, ma belle perle, the challenge begins. Are you ready?”

Fascinated, she launches herself into a whole new world with the two men. But is this just physical, or is their arrangement set to become something more?

Enjoy an Excerpt

Continuing to surreptitiously peer at the men over the rim of her glass, it hit her that this was the first time in months she’d looked at a man with interest, much less two men—and at the same time! She was ready to snatch her gaze away if one of them happened to glance at her, but it wasn’t surprising the pair had attracted her attention.

The tailored business suits would draw the eye even on someone unremarkable. But on these two, the fine clothing was practically an orgasm for the gaze. They sat opposite each other, and their angle to her meant she had a view of both their profiles—lucky her.

The one to her right had very dark, almost black hair, with a bit of a curl to it, a long straight nose, a trimmed goatee and, if she wasn’t mistaken, deep blue eyes. It was hard to tell for sure from this distance and perspective.
The one on her left had lighter, shorter hair, stubble that by some magical feat still looked smart, and the most sinful lips she’d ever set eyes on. And speaking of eyes, she thought perhaps his were green. What she wouldn’t give to go and check both of them out close up, preferably naked.

Shocked at her own sudden lustful thoughts, she inhaled more than drank another sip of the juice. Unfortunately, it hit her throat all wrong and she almost slammed the glass down as she started to cough. She tried so hard to suppress the cough, eager not to draw attention to herself, that she made it worse. Snatching up the thick linen serviette from the table, she held it to her mouth as she spluttered in a most embarrassing manner, and tears began to roll down her cheeks. By now, she was sure the whole damn restaurant was staring at her, and she wished the tablecloths reached the floor, like the ones in the restaurant upstairs, so she could hide under the table until she regained her composure.

Swallowing repeatedly to try to soothe her irritated throat, she gasped as a gentle hand laid on her shoulder, which set her off all over again.

“Oh God,” came a voice. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to make you jump. I just wanted to make sure you were all right. See if I could help.”

Unable to speak, Fiona waved a hand to try to signal that she’d be okay, but unless the guy was a mind reader, he’d have no luck figuring that out. Blinking through the tears that marred her vision, her urge to hide underneath the table grew stronger. Christ, it was only the hottie with the blue eyes. And, if she wasn’t mistaken, his sexy friend with the green eyes was also hovering close by, concern etched into his handsome features.

Managing to drag in a breath, she huffed out, “Thank you.”

Just then, Jeremy arrived with a carafe of water, complete with ice, and poured her a glassful. “Here you go, Fiona. Drink this. Are you all right? Anything else I can get you?”

She picked up the glass and took a tiny sip of the freezing cold liquid, hoping it wouldn’t make her cough again. She seemed to have got a handle on it, though her now-sore throat wasn’t at all happy with her. After taking several more tiny sips, she let out a sigh of relief—it seemed her mortifying coughing bout was over. Then she moved on to bigger gulps, buying herself some time to think of something witty to say, anything to convince the three men looking at her that she wasn’t some kind of imbecile who couldn’t even manage a glass of juice without choking.

Unfortunately, her creative brain, which had been on fire up until she’d started lusting over the hotties, had taken its leave. So she decided to opt for the truth. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to disturb you. My juice just went down the wrong way, that’s all. I’m fine, really. I’ll just finish my drink and be on my way. Thank you for the water, Jeremy.” She aimed a weak smile in his direction.

Blue Eyes turned to Jeremy. “Yeah, thanks, buddy. If you need to get on, we’ll keep an eye on her for a bit, make sure she’s okay. Don’t worry.”

A little warily, Jeremy looked at the two men, then at Fiona. “Are you going to be all right, Fiona? Do you need me to call someone and let them know you’ll be late or anything?”

She shook her head. “Honestly, Jeremy, I’ll be fine. It was just a coughing fit, that’s all. No lasting damage, except maybe to my makeup. And no, nobody will be missing me yet. It’s fine. Thank you so much, though.”

“Just give me a wave if you need me,” he said, backing away.

“Will do.”

With that, he morphed from concerned acquaintance into efficient waiter in an instant and went back to looking after his tables and the patrons frequenting them.

Knowing she’d now have to address the two men who’d caused her blush-worthy incident in the first place, she took yet another huge gulp of the icy water, then dabbed at her face with the serviette. Putting it down, she turned to Blue Eyes, who still stood by her side, but had removed his hand from her shoulder, with a wide smile.

“I’m so sorry,” she said again. “Please excuse the state of me, I’m sure I must look terrible. Thank you so much, both of you, for coming to check on me, but I’m really fine. No Heimlich manoeuvre required. I’ll just finish my drink… drinks… and be on my way. Please feel free to go back to your meeting.”

Green Eyes stepped a little closer. “You look just fine, sweetheart, except for being a little flushed, but that’s no bad thing.” He shot an almost imperceptible glance at Blue Eyes, and Fiona had to wonder if she’d imagined it. And if not, what on earth did he mean by that, anyway?

“Yes,” his friend chipped in, moving around so that he, too, could look at her face. “You look great. We’ll be just over there if you need us, all right? Don’t you hesitate to call out or wave, okay?”

Fiona wished they’d stop making such a fuss. But they were just being polite, she supposed. So, fixing the smile back on her face, she said, “Thank you. And I will. I promise.”

She waited until they’d retaken their seats before she started to make preparations for leaving hers. She didn’t want to dash off straight away as that might concern them further and send Jeremy into a tizzy, so she acted as coolly and calmly as possible, finishing the water, then the juice, as she continued making notes on her tablet. Finally, feeling able to leave without raising any eyebrows, she got up and collected her things.

Her movement attracted the attention of Blue Eyes and Green Eyes, and she gave them both a smile and a nod before moving off. She didn’t see Jeremy, who must have been in the kitchen collecting something, so she made a mental note to thank him when she next saw him. That was the downside to posh material serviettes and electronic devices—it meant there was no paper or pen handy to scrawl him a little note with.

She wasn’t quite ready to head back to the PR & Marketing Suite yet, at least not until she’d fixed her no doubt ruined makeup—which would raise a few eyebrows and spawn some questions—so she decided she’d dash up to her room for a few minutes and sort herself out.

After pressing the button for the elevator, she swiped through some of the photos she’d taken on the tablet as she waited for it to arrive. A couple of minutes later, the car arrived with a ping and a swish of doors. She stepped in, pressed the number for her floor and moved back. Just as the doors began closing, she realised the table the two men had been sitting at was visible from her position.

They were still there, and she was glad no one could see or hear her reaction as she looked at them, only to find two pairs of very arresting eyes looking right back at her—with interest.

And, as her view of them grew narrower and narrower until only a sliver was left, Blue Eyes flashed her a positively wicked grin just before he disappeared altogether.

Clinging onto the brass handrail behind her to steady herself, Fiona willed herself to get a grip. She’d been having a really good day, right up until those two had somehow awakened her hormones and made her bloody fruit juice go down wrong. And the way they’d clearly been watching her… and that smile! Shaking her head, she wanted desperately to believe they were some kind of dodgy perverts who frequented hotel restaurants to prey on lone young women, but common sense and cold, hard facts told her that wasn’t the case.

For one, what had they done? Offered help, and concern. That was all. What had they gained? Nothing, except maybe peace of mind in knowing she was okay. Her tablet and phone were still in her possession, so they weren’t thieves. Dodgy folk didn’t spend time in The Portmannow Hotel. It just didn’t happen.

So if they weren’t dodgy perverts and were just two relatively young businessmen, why had they been watching her like that? Their expressions, the looks in their eyes, indicated something altogether different from innocent concern for her wellbeing. The smile Blue Eyes had thrown her had been nothing short of sinful. Lustful, even. One Lucifer himself would have been proud of.

God, was it possible that they… found her attractive?

She needed a fresh start…

ICU Nurse Sadie Montgomery moved to New Orleans after her entire world fell apart. The idea was borne of desperation as she sank further into a depression so deep and dark, she had stopped feeling. It isn’t until she crosses paths with Ram that she finally feels a spark of life return. The only problem is, she doesn’t want to be dependent upon anyone. The pain of losing it all is still too fresh. Not to mention, in Ram’s world, the women submit themselves body and soul.

He wasn’t looking for love…

Former Army Ranger, Ramsey O’Malley, is not looking for a long-term commitment from a woman beyond a scene or two at Club Underworld. He doesn’t have the time nor the inclination to begin something he cannot finish, not as a single dad with a thriving psychology practice. Except, he is drawn to his newest patient. She’s forbidden, like the apple in the garden of Eden, and all he wants to do it take a bite.

But they could not deny their desire…

When Sadie makes a surprise appearance at Club Underworld looking to take a walk on the wild side, Ram knows he cannot let another man have her. He wants to be the one to introduce her to submission. But can he convince her to submit to his brand of lovemaking? And will just one night be enough?

“Sadie,” a deep, rough, male voice said softly.

She shifted her head and discovered Doctor Luc sitting in one of the breakroom chairs, his elbows resting on his knees as he faced her. Doctor Luc was one of the hottest doctors at Saint Mary’s Hospital, standing over six feet tall, with the build of a professional baseball player, his chestnut hair trimmed short, tanned skin, and eyes the color of the sea at sunset. All the women in the hospital were hot for the single doctor who unfortunately had a strict policy about not dating co-workers. As it was, his thick, dark brows and forehead were scrunched with concern, the corners of his mouth turned down in a frown.

“What happened?” Sadie wanted to play it off like she had merely fainted and hadn’t a clue. It wasn’t that she had hidden her PTSD from human resources, but she had downplayed the severity of her condition. If they discovered that she could have attacks that incapacitated her, they would remove her from the job. If she didn’t have her job, she had nothing. No anchor to keep her sane.

“That’s what I would like to know, Sadie. One minute you were fine, and the next, you were unresponsive. Your face went ghost white, then you issued a blood curdling scream, and fainted. Your vitals are good. I checked. Otherwise, I would have you in a hospital bed and not the breakroom.”

She winced as she sat up, woozy from the attack. They always left her hollowed out and unsteady. Typically, the best medicine was to crawl back into bed and sleep it off. But she had hours left to go in her shift.

“How long was I out?” She glossed over the screaming and unresponsiveness.

“Not long, fifteen minutes or so. What happened back there?” Luc pressed, not backing down. The man was like a dog after a bone. It was what made him an excellent doctor.

“It’s no big deal. I’m fine now,” she said, although she wasn’t, not by a long shot.

“Bullshit. You are not leaving this room until you explain what happened back there. I will not have anyone treating patients when I don’t know what the fuck happened, or potentially put a patient at risk. Your only option is to explain, or I will have to get HR involved,” Luc demanded, his face stern.

From the set of his jaw, she knew the man would not be budging from his stance anytime soon. She caved. What choice did she have? None. “Human resources already know about my diagnosis. I have post-traumatic stress disorder that stems from a serious car accident I was in two years ago. The majority of my episodes are manageable. I am able to pull myself back from the edge before they get too overwhelming. Back there, the accident victim tripped all my danger attack imminent sensors before I could get a handle on them. You see, I’m like the victim’s little girl. I was the only one to walk away from the accident.”

“Jesus Christ, Sadie. I’m sorry. I didn’t know. Who did you lose?” Luc’s sympathy was almost her undoing. Because behind the sympathy was always pity. Sadie loathed the pity. Bad things happened. There was no rhyme or reason to it. They could happen to anyone at any time. And she was still here, fighting to keep her head above water most days, but she was doing it.

But his sympathy had her fighting back tears. Sadie nodded. He deserved the truth.

I dropped the towel and reached for my panties.

“You’ve lost weight.”

I screamed and grabbed my tee, bringing it up to cover me. My eyes darted to the bed where the voice had come from, finding Demon sitting up against the headboard with his long legs crossed at the ankles. Relief and anger vied for first place in my emotions, but anger won out.

“What the fuck, Demon?! What are you doing here? How did you get in?” I watched him like a hawk as he swung his legs over the side of the bed and rose to his feet. A few short steps and he was stopping in front of me. I forced myself to hold his sharp, assessing gaze.

His eyes dropped down the front of me, burning me with their intensity. “Get dressed. You’re going with me.”

His arrogance fueled my anger. “No. I’m not.” I so wanted to slip into my tee, feeling exposed in spite of the fact that I was holding the shirt against my body. He’d seen me naked before, but this situation felt far more intimate than when he’d watched as I’d tried to wash Roland off of me. His eyes hadn’t held that predatory, hungry look like they were now.

He took a threatening step closer. I took a step back, coming up against my dresser. I caught my breath, feeling a rush of heat envelop me. I did not want Demon; I didn’t want him to touch me. I hated him.

He leaned down close to my face.

“I caught you with our enemies, bitch. Considering the trouble we’ve had and the fact that you conveniently left the club right before all that shit went down, you look guilty as fuck.”

“You’re crazy!” I hissed. “My leaving had nothing to do with what happened at the clubhouse, or with your brothers. As for finding me with your enemies, they took me, asshole. One of those cages was mine!” I was trembling with emotion.

Something flickered in his eyes. “That may be, but there’s still too many unanswered questions right now. Until I get to the fucking truth you’ll be a guest of Desert Rebels.”

“Fuck you, Demon! Get out!”

“Maybe if you hadn’t run, I wouldn’t be here now,” he growled, so close to me I could feel his breath against my face.
