Many years ago twin boys were stolen from the Duke of Warrington’s estate. The Duke’s son tried to find his children but he had a fatal accident and the children were never found.
Maximus and Lucius have arrived in London with their adoptive mother. At the theatre Maximus literally bumps into Sabina and falls instantly in love.
The book doesn’t dwell on the twins being found to be the lost heirs, it dwells on the sinister plot that spirited them away, and how the danger is still there. Sabina has her own problems with a mother who calls her the Cursed Heiress due to her different colour eyes. Marcus must keep watch on his twin who has been unstable since their arrival in London.
I enjoyed this book. The main characters were warm and believable. I liked the tension between Maximus and Sabina which didn’t seem at all forced. For once I wasn’t silently shouting at the hero and heroine to talk to each other. They did talk, but their reasons for not revealing all were understandable. This is an excellent regency book which I enjoyed reading.
