This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone. If a reader really wants to get to know this series and all the characters in it, I highly recommend reading them all.

I was introduced to Torch in the first book. My initial impression was his power. That power is on display in this story and in addition to that, I was able to see his softer side as well. I liked it.

When Isabella was first given to Torch, the expectation was she would return. She did not and he did not go after her. But this showed a more understanding Torch to me that was very much endearing–he’s not a beast, but a man. The author did wonderful job of showing the different sides of not just Torch, but Isabella as well.

Additionally, the chemistry between them was off the charts and seeing the relationship develop from a kind of insta-lust to something more was absolutely great. There were mentions of kidnapping and nude scenes of underage children but not more than that. This might be a trigger to some readers, so that’s a note to beware.

I would have loved to see what had happened to Isabella’s Dad and their story as well. The author kept me intrigued, so kudos for that.
