This was the third “self-motivation” conference Graham had attended and he was determined it be his last. He might be a redneck ex-Marine who, as the only child – bastard though he was – had inherited a large company from his father. Graham is no longer sure he can change himself, but he’s willing to give this one last chance. Edward had brought himself up from nothing, building himself an empire and offering the skills he’d learned to those willing to pay for the privilege. Edward can see the potential in Graham and the chemistry sizzles between them both. The two men need each other for a variety of reasons, can they make it work?

I found this to be a fast-paced and interesting story. I loved how Edward and Graham were both so similar but still their own characters. While the sexual chemistry and tension was thick throughout the entire story, I enjoyed that there was still plenty of plot – Edward’s slightly crazy ex-lover and the stress of Graham wanting to prove something to the board of his father’s company. For such a short story there is plenty going on and the sizzling sex between Edward and Graham just adds a lovely bit of spice.

The whole ex-boyfriend plot was a little clichéd, but added a nice element of conflict into the story. I felt the real strength here, though, was in the addictive quality of Edward and Graham learning about each other and testing each other’s limits. Both men are used to being in charge, strong willed and determined. This could have turned into a chest-beating alpha style competition but I really loved how both men were willing to give when needed and both acknowledged that they could learn things from each other. The sex was smoking hot, but also had a tenderness to it that I felt added a lot of depth – Edward and Graham weren’t just hooking up or having a quick fling, they were falling in love and it was wonderful to read.

Fast paced and with two very interesting, complex characters this was a great short story.
