As I sat and read this book, I was faced with the fact that sometimes we are the ones who resist happiness and seek the drama in our lives. We sometimes are driven to sabotage what we have out of fear or out of guilt for some act in our past, and we seek to punish ourselves.
The subject of domestic abuse is one that is hard to deal with. Reading about women being abused who stay with their partner our fear or lack of courage is particularly painful.
This book deals with the aftershocks … how our children are affected by abuse or mental health problems in their parents.
Two beautiful adults, at the height of their chosen profession (Silver is a movie star and Kolby a professional surfer), meet for the second time in their lives and cannot deny the attraction they always feel for each other. Through one of the sexiest scenes I have ever read, they must come to grips with this attraction.
Only the fear she feels of entangling this nice man into the complications and drama in her life makes Silver try to avoid getting any closer to Kolby. He on the other hand, is so smitten with her; he cannot keep himself in check. He must pursue her, but takes a slow burn approach to seducing her in order to win her trust and affection. This makes for a beautiful courtship and a hot love story — one I thoroughly enjoyed.
