Reviewed by AsterWhat’s a woman to do when she’s caught by a sexy man while spying on her boss having sexual relations then is offered more pleasure than she’s ever had before if she’ll only follow a simple rule—to act the part of their boss, a prostitute, while he plays her customer?
Lizzie Gould is a maid for a well-to-do woman and enjoys spying on her boss, who thinks nothing of bringing a different man home every night—unaware that her household staff know exactly what she’s up to. Lizzie has been watching for years, longing to act out some of the antics she’s learned…
Johnny Francis is a butler in the same household and has observed Lizzie watching their boss for months. He’s hankered after her since the first day he started working there and longs to give her pleasure instead of Lizzie using her own hand.
One day, Johnny can resist no longer and lets Lizzie know he’s in on her little secret. He offers to be the man of her dreams so she can replicate the wild acts she’s seen. Lizzie agrees, playing the part of a prostitute to his customer, and finds she enjoys being in charge… But Johnny isn’t who he seems. He’s only a butler there because he saw Lizzie and fell in love with her. Will she accept him once she finds out who he really is?
Working for the local prostitute in post-war London would raise even the strongest person’s libido, but for Lizzie Gould, watching her boss had become her favorite pastime.
Emmaline Childs has a new male visitor just about every night, and while her boss entertains, Lizzie takes pleasure watching through the keyhole; often pleasuring herself. Much to her embarrassment, however, she learns she’s not been alone during those times. Johnny Francis, the new butler in the household, has been secretly watching Lizzie and joining in the fun in his own way. After a short discussion, wrought with sexual tension, Johnny, who isn’t exactly what he seems, convinces Lizzie to act on her wildest fantasy. She puts herself in her boss’ shoes and becomes a lady of the evening; Johnny dutifully acting as her customer.
This was an entertaining short story. The writing was vibrant, and helped keep me in post-World War II England. Lizzie had a good heart, but was lonely and stuck in her position in life with little hope of escape. She was sassy, but smart, and seemed to know the appropriate times to speak and keep quiet.
Johnny was a little harder to peg. He was definitely love-struck, and a genuine man at heart, but other than his intense feelings for Lizzie, we didn’t get to see much of the rest of his personality. He was likable, but I would have liked to have gotten to know a little more about him.
As the book ended, I was happy for the couple and believed their feelings for each other. The beginning, however, it felt a little awkward. This may be because the first quarter of the story focused heavily on Emmaline and her “customer” for the evening, instead of the background of the relationship between Johnny and Lizzie. There was mention of how they interacted a little, and the reader knows the two are attracted to the other, but neither has told the other. To jump into a sexual act so quickly was physically hot, but I initially didn’t feel the connection between the two. After further conversations and time, however, the love they felt for each other began to emerge and they go their happily ever after.
I give credit to any author attempting to write in a foreign time or place, and Ms. Dae does it very well. If you’re looking for a fun, historical escape mixed with a love story, Minute Maid fits the bill.
