Reviewed by FernHis forty-ninth birthday approaching, Ed is expecting nothing more than his usual stiff drink and an anonymous fuck in the back room of Yancy’s Crossings. What he never expected was to be picked up by two college students and taken for a ride that would change his life forever.
Ed is bearing down on turning forty-nine and even though he didn’t live the life of a virgin, it had been a long time since he’d shared more than a quickie in the back room of his favourite bar. Ryan and Kyle are both too young for Ed, and the three men initially get off on the wrong foot. But Ed has a burning need and both Kyle and Ryan are more than eager to indulge.

I found this to be an interesting and very explicit short story. In some respects this felt a little old-school to me, with Ed dwelling a fair bit on his increasing age, but also the way his regular bar was set up, with a designated back room for voyeurs or anyone willing and interested to share flesh and sex with each other within certain boundaries. While I found the descriptions of the scene interesting and a little eye-opening, it felt a bit to me like an older style of club or maybe even a speak-easy. I really enjoyed this, but feel some more modern readers might not find it quite to their tastes.
Even though Ed, Kyle and Ryan get off on the wrong foot they all can’t resist the need and attraction building between them. While it’s clear all three men are willing I was never quite certain that the friction between Ed and Kyle would sort itself out. Readers looking for a gentle or sweeter sort of story might not find this suits their needs – even though it’s not dwelled on too long, there is some serious history to Ryan revolving around abuse and pain that might not suit every reader’s tastes inside their erotic romance reading.
I found Ed, Kyle and Ryan were all interesting characters and while their interactions weren’t very traditional or straightforward there is plenty of threesome sex between them and loads of tension and chemistry that add well to the story and make it really stand out as different to my mind.
A little old-school and very hot and sexy, this is a good and solid short story that I feel should appeal to many readers looking for something harder and a little bit different.
