Seeing the way Owen keeps trying to find someone else to save her, endeared him to me all the more. He’s a hero who doesn’t think he deserves to be a hero.
Annalise isn’t ready to trust easily after her husband of only hours threw her overboard to rid himself of his wife so he could keep her dowry. There is something about Owen though that calls to her to trust him. He isn’t sure he’s the hero type and she sees him as an honorable, attractive and sweet man, even if he doesn’t talk much and keeps avoiding her.
There were many supporting characters that made this story work, without the healers to help Annalise and convincing Owen into staying to help, this wouldn’t have been the story it is. This is a story of two broken people finding each other fighting their demons together all while falling in love. I loved this story and will gladly read other stories by this author in the future.
