Jenna Jenson’s spent her life wondering why she’s different. The only people who may help her find out have been lost to her since their mother’s death. When she’s attacked by a man whose supernatural abilities supersede her own, she’s rescued by the devastatingly handsome demon king, Lucas Thaler. While she’s inexplicably drawn to him, powers she never knew she possessed are unleashed, leading her to discover she’s part of a new breed of immortals who can either save or destroy life.

After a war in his demon plane and home, Lucas has dedicated his life to battling Malum Inmortalis, rogue immortals whose sole purpose is to rule immortals and mortals alike. As fate would have it, the hunt for these vile creatures leads him to her. Instantly, he recognizes her. She’s the woman he’s been waiting for, for centuries, the woman he’s been dreaming of for centuries—his fated mate.

Jenna is okay-ish with her life. It’s not the most exciting, but she can cope with that, so long as she has her best-friend Clyde. What would make her life perfect would be to find her missing sisters, but after yet another dead-end, that doesn’t look likely. In the blink of an eye, Jenna’s life changes in so many ways – with the sexy Lucas being number one.

Jenna is not a wilting wallflower, and it was fantastic to see her come into her own, with plenty of sass and attitude along the way. Some revelations shake Jenna, but her reactions were all completely plausible, and not over-the-top. Lucas tries, bless him, he really does. He want’s to be numero uno caveman, but there’s no way Jenna will allow that. I did love seeing Jenna rock his world.

This was an excellent introduction to the world of the Guardians, and I loved seeing the Demons in a positive light. You are given a hint into how the next story will go, as Jocelyn is rescued at the end of this one. A great ending to this story, and leaving you wanting to know more. Absolutely recommended by me.
