The law steps in, and the townsfolk are cross about somebody messing with one of their own.
But once the bad guy is put away, can TJ and Wacey make their place in this wild and eccentric town a permanent one?
TJ enjoyed being the Chief of such a small town. But things begin to heat up when Wacey – an ex from long ago – comes back home to heal after an accident. TJ and Wacey have a lot of pent-up history between them, but it looks like TJ isn’t the only one with Wacey in his sights. Can TJ work out what’s going on before it’s too late?
This is an interesting and fast-moving story that I really enjoyed. TJ and Wacey are both complex and interesting characters with a mountain of baggage and words left unsaid between them. I also particularly liked the wealth of secondary characters around them all in the small town. This gave a good layering effect to the story in my mind and there was no shortage of suspects, which kept me invested and eagerly turning the pages. It was clear to me fairly early on that someone had nefarious purposes toward Wacey, though I was equally delighted that the reasoning’s behind it weren’t simple. All too often in erotic/mystery stories I can clue in on the “bad guy” and their reasons far too early, but in this case there were so many characters and such a lot happening it took me a while to sort through it all – and that had me captivated and eager to read more.
I was particularly delighted by the honest and close relationship TJ had with his ex-wife. While I’m not sure how realistic it was, I feel the author did an amazing job in making it believable, caring and interesting. Personally, I found it refreshing and lovely that two people could be divorced but still remain friendly and companionable. TJ’s blossoming relationship with Wacey was also well written and I enjoyed following along as the two men reconnected. I can foresee a number of future books with Wacey’s large and rambunctious family, plus possibly other members of the small community.
With some great characters, an interesting and complex plot and some steamy hot sex, I found this to be a great book with plenty going for it. A good, long read I thoroughly enjoyed it and would happily read more by this author.
