Falling for her protector

For single mother Abby Bauman, a failed marriage and a troublesome ex are proof of love gone wrong. But once she’s caught up in danger and saved—twice—by take-charge detective Ethan James, she considers whether falling for a true-blue hero is worth the risk. Even now, after the rescue, he seems bent on continuing to protect her and her daughter. Why?

There’s more to Ethan’s determination to stay close than he’s telling her. But when she confronts him, he proves she’s more than a means to solve a case. That tempts Abby to take a second chance on trust—and love. Which might be the best choice she’s ever made.

There’s nothing better than a little adventure, suspense and romance all rolled into one story, and that’s what A Texas Hero has to offer.

I immediately liked Abby, and when she meets Ethan and he becomes her knight in shining armor, you can’t help but read on wondering how they’re going to get out of a very dangerous situation.

Ms. Warren did a wonderful job upping the suspense and danger at each step of the story and it had me reading faster to see how they’d handle the current predicament.

The secondary characters are wonderful too and very well-drawn. I especially enjoyed the scenes with Ethan’s father and daughter. Some of their lines were humorous, especially the words his father used for swearing so his granddaughter didn’t hear his bad language.

These were all people you cheered for and as this story is part of the Willow Creek, Texas series, I’ll certainly be looking for more books by Ms. Warren.

If you’re looking for a fun, suspenseful summer time read, this could be one for you.
